Your gut is a big interplay with your hormones. Why is that? Well, because your sex hormones, especially estrogen, are detoxified from your liver to your bile into your gut. Why do hormone treatments often fail and what you can do to know to kind of address that. So the question comes, what is something that really messes a lot of women up with the hormones and how can you address it where it's actually your gut? Now I know this is going to be surprising to many people, but your gut is a big interplay with your hormones. Why is that? Because your sex hormones, especially estrogen, are detoxified from your liver to your bile into your gut. If your gut is unhealthy, there are actually certain bacteria that release those hormones to be reabsorbed and actually give you a thing called estrogen dominance. If you're not, if your gut is not working appropriately, you don't have the right kind of fats in your system, you won't actually detoxify appropriately. And you can actually. There's a lot of information coming out about bacteria in your gut releasing things that actually affect adversely your, your neuroendocrine system, which is the nervous and hormonal system and how they work together. This comes down to the concept of a hormonal hierarchy and the things you need to address. And in the middle of this hierarchy is your gut. And so if your gut is off, it will affect your, your hormones. Well, like let's give some examples. Okay, great, great. One of the basic, biggest examples of early on with gut health affecting hormones is acne. A lot of young women get acne. There's an association with actually excessive amounts of testosterone. Hence some of the birth control pills and anti test anti androgens like spironolactone or actually a lot of people don't realize birth control pills actually lower young women's testosterone levels, which is one of the ways it impacts acne. But that's a, that's an early thing that people will know they have some estrogen issues. Pcos, polycystic ovarian syndrome. Lots of young women will have this painful periods, abnormal periods associated with pcos. This actually has a big part to do with your gut health and those of you that are familiar with metabolic syndrome. One of the expressions of metabolic syndrome, besides diabetes, besides cholesterol and gout, is actually pcos. So all of a sudden, now we see an association with your gut health and your hormones.

What are some other examples of fibroids union? Fibroids actually are part of estrogen dominance, also fibrocystic breast disease. So it's interesting how many young, young ladies I'll see with IBS gas bloating issues who also have tender breast, excessively tender breasts during their cycles. Fibrocystic breast issues. And on top of endometriosis, also uterine fibroids. And how common are these things? Ridiculously common. Actually, way too common. Too common. So what are a couple ideas? What are a couple of gut Three gut hacks you can start working on today that can actually help with your, with your hormones? Well, the first thing is you have to have a daily bowel movement. If you're not having a bowel movement every day, you can actually increase levels of strep, staph and yeast as well in your GI tract. And yeast actually drive estrogen dominance. So just having a daily bowel movement can help this. So what are some ways to have a daily bowel movement Increasing your fiber intake. Probiotics. One of the best sources of fiber to actually have a positive impact on hormone health is flaxseed. And that's a pretty easy thing to add in. The lignans actually help bind up estrogens and detoxify them better. So a daily bowel movement. What's something else you can do? The right kinds of healthy fats can actually help your liver detoxify, help decrease it. Kind of getting gum up. There's a thing you may have heard of called gallbladder sludge, which is related to actually small crystals forming in the bile. And a severe version of this is actually gall gallstones, which are very common and unfortunately in young ladies. So eating healthy forms of fats, especially phosphatidylcholine PC, that actually helps liquefy these, this, the sludge and crystal. It also helps detoxify your liver. One of the ways in which your liver takes things and gets them out is by turning things from being fat soluble to water soluble. And phospholipids, phosphatidylcholine actually especially helps with this. And it's a primary fat or phospholipid that's involved in, in, in the mucus in your GI tract, which is really important for, for gut health. So we talked about moving your bowels, we talked about some healthy fats, colorful foods, your reds, your oranges, your yellows, the, the yellow foods, these are actually prebiotics. These colors called polyphenols, actually feed healthy bacteria. So just eating more of these in your diet, this is your colorful rainbow type diet, can have a positive impact on your gut as well as on your, your, your hormones. The last thing I want to talk about is just eating hormone detoxifying foods. And this is things like cruciferous vegetables, arugula, broccoli type foods, Brussels sprouts. All these will actually help detoxify excessive amounts of estrogen.
