Where it gets controversial, so to speak, is when you start getting to the level of EMF that affects biological processes, particularly bacteria and mold, and then your nervous system itself. So, you know, even at low energy, these EMF can induce electrical impulses into our tissues. This is actually one of the ways the Earth's electromagnetic fields affect our biology. The waves that pulse at the Schumann forces that Pulse at about 7.83Hz, actually induce a alpha wave kind of activity in our tissues. And then the Earth's flux, which is about.04 to 0.8, it's actually tends to correlate with the same level frequency as your heart, your heart rate variability as the wave variable. So it's kind of interesting how these things actually affect our body's physiology in a positive way.
Electromagnetic fields, what is all the controversy about? Are they really a health concern and what you should know about them? That's what I want to talk about over the next several short 10 minute podcast sessions. We usually do these at the end of a week just to take a deep dive into topics that people have interest in. They've reached out to us and asked about patients in the clinic or whatnot. So if you have a question, something you'd like us to take a deep dive into, please, I'll put it in the comments below, wherever you follow us on social, and we'll start. So I think the first thing we talk about, electromagnetic fields, we have to define what electromagnetic fields are. Electromagnetic fields are invisible waves that are formed by energy sources that carry a magnetic impulse. So most people are familiar with how transformers work. You have a alternating current which usually comes out of your wall, AC current, and it goes through a coil. And as it pulses 60 times a second, which is the frequency at 60 hertz, it creates these pulsing electromagnetic fields. Now, if you have another coral right close by it, it'll actually pick up those pulsing electromagnetic fields. And so if the coral ratio is like say 1 to 10, 1 volt will turn to 10 volts, 1amp will turn into one tenth of an amp. This is basically how transformers work. So we've known about the idea of energy carrying electromagnetism for quite some time. It's how compasses work. The magma under the earth moves and creating an earth flux which actually has a resonance vibration of like 0.2 to 4.4 Hz, which is the reason why you'll see a compass, like what direction it goes. You'll see it actually the shakings from the Schumann forces, which are closer to 7.83Hz but that's a little off topic here. But the point is like we've known about this idea of electromagnetism, electro energy causing magnetic fields. This is not a new concept, a new idea. So what are the different kinds of electromagnetic energies? There are the high energy, medium energy and low energy electromagnetic fields that ranges from, you know, gamma rays coming from outer space, to radio waves, to microwaves, to the energy your body cells actually have. Our bodies actually have a resonance. The Earth has a resonance, actually electromagnetic resonance. So the devil actually is in the details when we start to talk about. So I want to talk about the different kinds of, different sources of electromagnetic fields just so you can kind of understand what we're talking about when we take a deep dive into it. The first thing are to think about your high energy ionizing electromagnetic fields. These are gamma radiation. Gamma waves come from outer space, come from the sun and devices on Earth, X rays, radiation coming from nuclear blasts or radon. Radon actually is a substance in the earth that breaks down, decays, and if you inhale it, it's actually the second most common cause of lung cancer in our country behind smoking. So these are all high energy forms of electromagnetic energy that over time can cause cancer, can break down DNA, and we've known about that for quite some time. And then you have your non ionizing radiation, these are your radio waves, microwaves, Wi Fi, cell phones, a bunch of these things. They're things that cannot break molecular bonds, so they can't actually affect molecules directly. Non ionizing versus radiation can actually break bonds. And actually one of the ways radiation is formed is by the ionizing form is through the breaking down of bonds like uranium breakdown, plutonium breakdown. So I'm going to talk about a few different nuances here. The point is to help you understand why there's controversy behind whether this is harmful or not harmful. So also Besides the ionizing versus ionizing, there's the intensity. You have high intensity EMF. Now historically we knew about this after World War II. Radio operators in World War II, actually when they get cold, they'd stand in front of the big radio domes, the radar things, and actually warm themselves up, warm their food up. It was the future, microwave of the future. Strangely enough, those individuals developed cancers 10, 15 years later related to the exposure. So we know that high intensity like that is bad. Well, how about cell towers? That is another form of the non ionizing high energy radio waves. But we know if you live within 100 meters of radio tower, that actually can be detrimental to your health. And the different cancers associated with that. So the intensity matters of both the source and proximity. If you have a cell tower 10 miles away, it's not really going to impact you.
Have you ever lost trust in your own body or in the doctors who were supposed to help you heal? It happens to millions of people who are stuck in the cycle of prescriptions and tests and more questions than answers. That's why Dr. Aaron Hartman wrote his new book Uncurable. As a physician and a parent, he's lived through the pain of being told there's nothing more we can do. But instead of accepting that, he built a new path, One that combines traditional and functional medicine to uncover what's really driving illness. Uncurable is more than a book. It's a roadmap to help you find the root causes your doctor might have missed, reactivate your body's natural healing systems, and and finally believe in what's possible. Again, if you've lost hope or trust in the system, this book will help you take back control. And then you have your ionizing we mentioned before. So you have the intensity for EMF of non ionizing, you have your ionizing and then you have your lower intensities that are not hot. When I say hot, they're not, they don't cause the breaking of bonds that break down DNA, but they are biologically active. And there's this thing called the Martin Pool hypothesis. And the theory is that these not hot but biologically active electromagnetic waves affect calcium channels and through that affect biological processes. So we've known that these lower energy things can potentially have a biological impact. But does it cause disease? We'll talk about that here shortly. And then there's also with tissues you have specific absorption rates. And so you might have a certain wave that's absorbed by higher intensity by say brain matter or bone matter. And a different wave might be, or source, a different wave might be absorbed a higher frequency by like your heart, your kidney. So there's also that specific absorption rate. All these things can impact whether an electromagnetic feels harmful or not harmful. And then the last aspect of radio waves, which is where I see lots of people, is how it, it's a stimulus to your nervous system. And this is where you go from the hard data, you know, nuclear breakdown, ionizing radiation to your non ionizing but high energy, which would be like your cell tower, radio towers. So we say, hey, we don't live by it. But where it gets controversial, so to speak, is when you start getting to the level of EMF that affects biological processes, particularly bacteria and mold. We'll get to that in a second. And then your nervous system itself. So, you know, even at low energy, these EMF can induce electrical impulses into our tissues. This is actually one of the ways the earth's electromagnetic fields affect our biology. The waves that pulse, the Schumann forces that Pulse at about 7.83Hz actually induce a alpha wave kind of activity in our tissues. And then the earth's flux, which is about.04 to 0.8, it's actually tends to correlate with the same level frequency as your heart, your heart rate variability as the wave variable. So it's kind of interesting how these things actually affect our body's physiology in a positive way. That's another controversy. You know, not controversy, but another topic is you can actually use these ways for as a source of therapy and treatment. And that which has been done. So the devil gets in the details. But what happens is with people who have POTS or dysautonomia or chronic fatigue or mcas or molder sears or vague exaggerated vagal reactions, their nervous system becomes hyper responsive to the environment. So these people can develop multiple chemical sensitivity, tilt syndrome, toxic induced loss of tolerance, smell sensitivities. They react to everything. They react in the three in this thing called a queasy, which is actually a test that can see if you have this, you know, tilt, toxic induced loss of tolerance. And it looks at three major realms. One is medication reactions, food reactions and chemical reactions. And if you have two or three, so perfumes, clean detergents, food or medications, you have two of those three, which also include supplements and fillers and things like that. I kind of put that in the medication category. Then you have about a 60 to 70% chance of having this thing anyway. People who have this, these things, their nervous system has a heightened sense of alertness or awareness. In those individuals, their nervous system can become activated, over activated and feel uneasy and electromagnetic field. And these are the people you tend to see developing electromagnetic sensitivity. Those are the individuals who feel sick when they're around cell towers. Not just cell towers, but like in a house with lots of WI fi. I've had some individuals who sell, they can tell when their cell phone's on and off because they kind of feel in their body. The analogy I give to people about how this is possible is when I actually pinch a nerve in my neck and if you ever pinch a nerve in your back? For years I saw patients, they'd come in, pinch a nerve in my back, they're in severe pain. And I kind of, I didn't ignore them per se, but I just were like, why are you complaining so much about a pinched nerve? It just didn't make sense to me until I did it myself. And when I did it, I was driving to work that morning, actually, I had to set up appointment to see a therapist to do some muscle release. I could literally feel the pebbles on the road as I was going over them, like through the tire in the steering column in my neck. I mean, it was exquisitely painful that when I slowed down at the stoplight, if I went over a crack in the road, I literally felt that in my neck. And that's the first time I wrapped my brain around the idea that if your nervous system is inflamed, your body becomes hyper acute or hyper aware to environmental stimuli. Well, we know this with shingles. You get shingles reactivation. Now the wind hurts your skin. We've seen this other neurological issues where you have a damage and all of a sudden the small stimuli, it's called allodynia, where things that aren't supposed to cause pain cause pain. And this is where a lot of people sit who have EMF sensitivity. Their nervous system has a heightened sense of alert and awareness. And now they're super sensitive to emf. The reason we have an issue with people have issues of understanding this is because they can't differentiate, you know, ionizing versus non ionizing. So that's radiation, you know, plutonium or whatever versus radio waves. And then you have high intensity versus low intensity. And then you have ones that have biological activity. So that's part of the, the nuances of this, of some of the controversy and misunderstanding. So I also thought, so hopefully this helps you understand EMF a little bit. I want to take some deeper dives into emf, how they can affect your health and ways you can mitigate it. But this first one was just hopefully helping you understand the different types of emf, how they can affect you, and why it might seem to some that electromagnetic fields might not have any health effects while they might. And while others can see it, plenty of that does. So next one, we'll kind of take a deeper dive into some other issues with emf. Take care. We'll talk to you soon.
