I'm good. I have no idea what you just said. Other than that, I'm all good.
So you're on my YouTube channel right now. So how do you feel? Yeah, good.
It's always good to speak in front of the audience that you guys have got over there. So yeah, hello everyone. I hope everyone's well. I'm stuck here in sunny Scotland. Well, it's not so sunny, but yeah, it's all good. Pleasure to be here.
Okay, so Greg, let's come on to questions. Right. So first question that is asked by so many of our viewers is that how is SEO going to change in 2020?
So everyone asks this, how is it going to change? I don't think it's going to change that much. I think it will be much more of the same, you know, good content, good links, good technical SEO. Fast-loading websites. I think it's going to be much more of the same. You know, there's no, there's no, the only real thing is things like natural language processing. You know, you can use Google's natural language processing tool to educate Google more about your pages and the kind of language you're using on your website. So I think You know, the small changes that happen all the time. And I think those are only going to help Google understand and read your website better. But you know, the grand, in the grand scheme of SEO, I don't see the, you know, the main parts of it changing too much. I think you've just got to make sure that you keep doing more of the same, good, genuine, hardworking effort. So that's in my opinion. I think people are always concerned around new technology or Google are going to release some big update or something like that. And it never does. You know, I think anything big is probably going to be years away.
So like people are always blaming SEO, that SEO is going to change. Blogging is about to die. So what do you think? Is blogging really dead?
Definitely not. You know, I think there's, in India, for example, if I take India as an example, there's so many young people who are hungry to learn, who are hungry to watch guides, tutorials, and understand things like affiliate marketing or how to write a blog or how to start a blog. So on a personal level, you probably read a lot of blogs on a day-to-day basis to continue learning about digital marketing. So, and everyone does, we all do it. The only thing is a lot of people also prefer to watch videos on YouTube or listen to podcasts. I think if you can merge that into your blog, and maybe use a little more video, then, you know, it's not that blogging's dead. You're just using a different way to blog. So for example, we're doing this right now, and obviously, you know, I'm answering questions to your audience who are going to, you know, find out some valuable tips here. Now, we have done, 5 years ago, we might have done a question and answers on your blog. Now you want to do a video because people respond better to the visual side. So I think blogging is not dead. I think you've just got to mix it up and make sure that you're capturing, because not everyone wants to watch a video. Not everyone wants to listen to a podcast. Some people still do prefer to read. So I think blogging is anything but dead. You've got to capture the wider audience.
Okay, great, great, great answer. So Craig, like so much of SEO Guru, is saying that, yeah, so much of ranking factor is coming. Like every day they're telling that new ranking factor are coming. They're like so much afraid. So what do you think? What are the top 3 factors of— according to you, what are the top 3 ranking factors that is most likely to be amazing? Like it depends. What are the top 3 ranking factors?
Top 3 ranking factors in my opinion would be links. I think links are the number one ranking factor. Content is number two. You can't rank without good content. And number three would be things like click-through rate and stuff like that. Because although you've got good content and good links, I think that only takes you so far. And then Right. It's the kind of user engagement side of things that will take you from the bottom end of page 1 up to the top end of page 1. So I think you've got to consider click-through rate on website, trying to get people on your, you know, your landing page. And I think if you do all 3 of those, then you won't be far wrong. And I think people over, you know, over-concern themselves with on-page stuff. And I'm not saying on-page is to do, just think that click-through rate, you know, some content and some links are the main things. Obviously internal linking and various other aspects of on-page SEO, whilst they're still quite important, I feel that you can still get results without doing too much of that.
Yeah, yeah, right.
Absolutely right.
So let's come on the links first. So what are the best methods that— so much— like there are so many hard ways to build links, right? So what are the easiest methods that we can build links and gain some authority?
I mean, at the end of the day, a link's a link. Somehow you need to get good quality, relevant links pointing to your website. So easy ways to do that would be, for example, to do an interview with a guy like you. You might give me a link back from your blog or your YouTube channel or whatever. Easy way to do it. You can do generic outreach. Lots of people are doing outreach using tools like BuzzStream, PitchBox, Mailshake, just reaching out to people and doing a bit of work, asking to collaborate with people or whatever it may be. On top of that, you know, there's loads of other strategies. PBNs, using expired domain names, buying links and tricking people into giving you links. There are endless amounts of ways to get links. The end result is you getting a high-quality link to your website. Now you don't have to cheat. You don't have to trick people. You can sometimes just be honest and say, like, I'll write an article for you if you give me a link back. You know, you can exchange your time. So it depends on your personality in the industry you're in. For example, some very competitive markets, you may have to cheat because everyone else is cheating and you need sheer volume. That's where people maybe implement private blog networks and expired domain names and things like that. But in most cases, you can get away with just doing outreach and trying to do things as best you possibly can. You don't need— I think there's a general misconception out there that everyone thinks you have to have 5,000 links. Sometimes 10 or 20 good quality, relevant links to see— really, don't have this figure in your head either that you need tens of thousands or you know, hundreds and just go about it that way. But as I say, you've got to go for the easiest things first. And the easiest things to do is to reach out, talk to your contacts, offer free content or an infographic or something that people are going to link to. Those are the easy ways. But other than that, it all becomes a bit more difficult.
Yeah, right. Sometimes 5 quality links are much better than like 1,000 low quality links, right?
Exactly.
Yeah, like if anyone gets links from entrepreneur.com, it is like crazy. Yeah, so many person, uh, authoritative person is only getting links from entrepreneur, Huffington Post, Forbes, but it is not easy for a normal person to get links from it. Yeah, right.
And you've got to, you know, you've got to be realistic with yourself, and no one can just walk in and get those links. Um, unless you've got a massive budget and you can afford to pay for them or something. But yeah, you've just got to get the best ones you possibly can and grow the ladder from there.
Yeah, let me tell you guys, Craig is also a great affiliate marketer and he's doing affiliate marketing like crazy. So Craig, can you give like 3 tips for affiliate marketing?
Affiliate marketing. 3 tips for affiliate marketing. Find a good niche. I've failed, I've made a lot of mistakes when it comes to affiliate marketing. Always find a product that's worth more than $100 per sale. Because I've got websites out there that sells products that are £20, £30, £40. On Amazon and the commissions are so low that it's just, it's never going to be great. And you know, you've got camera equipment, TVs, laptops, all of these things are £200, £300, £400, £500. And when you're getting a small commission, those commissions are a lot more worthwhile. So tip number 1 is pick the right niche, pick the right products to sell, go after high-value products. Don't go for the, the lower end of the market. Tip 2 is write content like hell. One of the biggest things you can do is go after a whole bunch of long-tail keywords. So everyone obsesses over like SEO software, whereas no one really searches for SEO software in reality. People are looking for, you know, cheap link building software or cheap content spinner or whatever it may be. So, you know, write a lot of content and aim for all of those long tail keywords. Because you can get a hell of a lot of traffic doing that. So that would be tip number 2. Tip number 3. Tip number 3 for affiliate marketing, don't leave all your eggs in one basket. Do not focus only on Amazon. For example, I do affiliate marketing, so I am a SEMrush affiliate. I have Amazon affiliate. I have SEO Autopilot affiliate. I've got hosting affiliates. I've got a whole bunch of different affiliate options. So I'm not relying on having 5 Amazon websites because if Amazon closed tomorrow or shut down their affiliate side of the business, I've still got my revenue from SEMrush or I've got an e-commerce website as well that generates money. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Make sure you've got 4 or 5 different revenue streams because The likes of Amazon have changed the affiliate commission that they pay out twice in the last few years. They've lowered it, lowered it to the point where it is now debatable whether there's a sustainable business model there, and any affiliate can do the same. So as I say, do not put your eggs in one basket. Make sure you've got multiple revenue streams. Because if you're all out in one niche and things go wrong, you could be out of business quicker than you get into it. So that would be my tips for affiliate marketing.
Yeah, so guys, Craig is telling that don't keep all eggs in same basket, right? Right, because jo aap ka basket hai, jo aap ka, these are the blogs, and vo alag hain hona chahiye, aap pe ek jaga hoga, to kuch nahi ho sakta. So aap iss chudhyan deji ki aap Multiple sites, affiliate marketing, Amazon affiliate, JVZoo, SMRush. So it depends, right? So Craig, like in affiliate marketing, this is a complete game of like niche. The better the niche, the more money you make, right? Like in health niche, there are so many competitions, so When normal people are choosing a niche, so what should they really focus on?
I would always suggest to anyone when they're picking a niche is, as I said, one, pick a product that sells for more than £100. I would also say that you would want to look for a niche that you might enjoy. So there's no point in writing thousands and thousands of words of content on something that you absolutely hate. So try, if you like sport, then you may want to look into, you know, golf affiliates or football affiliates or whatever it might be. So try and find something that you kind of enjoy. Because I think that makes the writing side of it much more enjoyable. I think it's a hard one. No one wants to put a lot of hard work in. You know, we all want to just make money online for doing very little work, but in the grand scheme of things, you have to, as they say, look for something that makes money, something that you enjoy doing. And I don't think that's a bad start to work in a niche that you're enjoying to some degree. It's very easy for me to sell and do affiliate in the SEO or digital marketing industry because I enjoy SEO. I talk about SEO all the time. So it's so easy for me to write about SEMrush or talk about SEMrush or whatever. Now, if I was selling I don't know, real estate or something, which I have no clue about. Would I do this? Would I have the same impact? Probably not. I think the tone of voice. So when I write, people can kind of tell that it comes from an authority, if you like. So I think those are things to take into consideration. I wouldn't take anything else into consideration, to be honest. I think you can overcomplicate things. As I said, it's different things for different people. If you had a big budget and you were outsourcing all the content, would it really matter whether you enjoyed the niche or not? Absolutely not. You don't have to care at that point. So I think if you're starting from scratch and you're going to be writing the content on your own, find a niche that you enjoy. Um, if not, I would just do it based on money.
Yeah, your interest and experience should be there.
Yeah.
