Adam Greenberg went viral after his friend Shawn Frank, who co-wrote The Chainsmokers' "Closer," shared a video that The Chainsmokers amplified. The clip landed him mentions on Jimmy Fallon and Ellen DeGeneres, and he's now turning 30 and getting married in October.
Wait, wait, wait! Before you scroll up, I have a fidget spinner. I have a fidget spinner. Stay. You're gonna want to be a part of this. The fidget spinner has nothing to do with this video. It was just a tactic to make you stay and get in on the opportunity of a lifetime. And today I am 30. Crazy. Unless you're watching this tomorrow, and then it's not my birthday anymore, but today is my birthday, and I want to try something, an awesome social media experiment. Have you ever been cruising through the internet and stumble upon something with like 300 views or something like that, and then the next day you look and you're like, oh my god, it's got a million views. Oh my god, the next day it has 10 million views. That's one of my friend Tyler Lemko's best claims to fame. Fame. He saw Gangnam Style when it was like 50,000 views and now it's 47,000 billion. I'm giving you that opportunity today. The title of this video is How I Became Famous, which is so crazy because this video is the reason I turned 30. It's my birthday and everyone saw this video and they were like, you know what, we're gonna do this guy a solid, we're gonna share this guy's video and he's gonna go viral and become famous. And we did that. I was a part of— you, you are a part of this. It is your fault that I am on Jimmy Fallon right now debuting my new song, "I Wanna Be Best Friends with Jimmy Fallon." Hold up, gotta smash that plane emoji. But that's all you get. That's all you get until you see me on Jimmy Fallon. Because the cool thing is I've been putting out videos and people have been sharing them and liking them and telling me they're great, but never did it get like from here to here to next level. Fortunately, I've got some friends that are pretty plugged in within the networks, and I've got a good friend, his name is Shawn Frank. He co-wrote Closer with the Chainsmokers. <LYRICS>So baby, pull me closer.</LYRICS> And he shared it on his page, and the Chainsmokers saw it, and they're like, oh, this is a big lovable character. I've seen some of his videos before. I'm gonna share it on our page. And then so many more people saw it. It went viral because of The Chainsmokers. Chainsmokers, thank you. Bless you. I can't thank you enough. And Chainsmokers, who have performed on Jimmy Fallon before, they were like, yo, Jim. Jim-A. Jam! Check out this guy's video. He should be on your show because he's mad jokes and he predicted the future. Hey Jimmy, wanna be my friend? Ahahaha. Justin Timberlake, you're gonna love it, you're gonna share it. Ellen wanted me on her show to perform the song "I Wanna Be Best Friends with Jimmy Fallon," but she made me change the words to "I Wanna Be Best Friends with Ellen DeGeneres," which is true because a goal of mine is to kiss Ellen on the mouth because she kisses all of her male friends who she is close friends with on the mouth. So Ellen, I'm coming for your lips. I mean that in the least creepy way possible. I understand that being this close has made it even creepier, but Ellen, I'm a sweetheart. I'm squatting in this position and it really hurts, but thanks to Alex Paul Fitness, I'm a little bit more in shape, and now he's a celebrity trainer. So thank you to everyone who shared this video. Part of the reason why I got this idea is because I was reading an article on Shopify about the fidget spinner and the viral world. So this is a social media experiment, and if this video did nothing and it just stayed, you know, amongst my little community of people, well then thank you to everyone who watches what I put out.
