What's up everybody? Adam Greenberg here, Virgin Radio Montreal. We have the one, the only, Max in the house. Lights Down Low, the song is, how you say, beautiful.
Messy.
Today we're gonna be playing a game called Lights Down Low. We're gonna put on this beautiful eye mask. You are gonna cover your eyes. Ooh, cozy. And while he has his eyes covered, we are going to be putting items in front of him and having them touch them, and then we're gonna see if you can guess what they are, and then that's gonna lead to a question.
You ready? I'm in, let's go, baby.
Here we go. All right, item number 1 is on the table. Oh yeah, that's me. Yeah, but that's not what we're talking about.
Oh, it's right here. There you go. Oh, I feel like it's like a little— it's like a mustache or something. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!
It's a mustache! You could throw that on.
Nice, man, nice. They're lovely. You nailed it. You don't really got the mustaches.
So I checked out your Instagram. Seems like your dad had a very powerful mustache.
You really went in. Oh man.
Oh, we went in. Oh, we went in.
Yo, his mustache was extremely—
So I want to know, what are the most meaningful words that you have ever seen come out of that beautiful mustached face from your dad?
I will have to go past the mustache era. Mm. Because recently, about 2 weeks ago, my dad is a little Jewish man, and I have a few tattoos, and a few years ago when I got them, he begged me not to get them, and, you know, but he's also an incredibly supportive father, and we were on FaceTime the other day, and he showed me he got my matching— No! My matching pitchfork tattoo, and this was one of the craziest moments of my life, thinking about mustache dad, and also, you know, this hero of mine. And it was incredibly special in that it was a moment where I realized this is something that he has been against his whole life and not into his whole life.
I'm Jewish as well, and like, for my dad to get a tattoo—
would blow your mind, right? People don't understand.
No, that's like the craziest thing.
People are like, "Oh, I have a matching tattoo with my parents." I'm like, "No, no, you don't understand. It's like this specific thing." So anyway, that was a very mind-blowing moment where He just said—
I'm actually like— Right?
Yeah, I'm so glad you're having this reaction. It doesn't come often. People are like, all right, you got a tattoo, like no big deal.
Mustache or no mustache, Dad, you are awesome.
You are a legend.
Wow, that's crazy. All right, next thing. Yep, it's on the table. Oh, there you go.
First piece. I know, I know by the feel. I don't even need to know.
I don't even need to know. Yo, you're on tour, it's November, you know, I wanted to make sure your lips are well protected in the winter. Thank you, baby. Your voice Your voice is crazy. Do you do anything specific to warm up before the shows?
Every day. I feel like my wife actually lost her voice this week.
She's gotta do the warm-ups with you, man.
I know, I'm telling her she's gotta do it.
So like, what's an example of a warm-up?
Kali yalla, Walla Walla. Yeah.
Loo, loo, loo, loo, loo, loo.
So those are just some of them. And then I do, yeah, you know, I'm just—
Yeah, a couple of those. Ooh, I don't have that move.
Just get—
Oh, I do!
Hey, you got it. There you go. There you go. Breathe into it.
Cover photo.
Is this a pony?
It is a pony. Man, yo, you're on fire right now.
I felt the long hair, I was like, "I wonder why it would be a pony." Yes!
With your group Party Pupils, you did the sickest cover of Pony. Thanks, man. Like, fire! I want to know what's next for Party Pupils.
Yeah, man. There's this one song that we've been working on for a long time. We play it in the shows and stuff, but it's called Sax, like a saxophone, on the Beach.
Nice.
And it's coming. It's been one of my favorite ones to play live. Oh, I feel it.
It's on the table. It is on the table.
Am I missing it?
Come a little closer.
Oh wait, oh, oh, okay. Oh, is it a— it's a ring because I'm married. Yeah, cool, tight.
I got married 2 weeks ago.
Congratulations, bro.
You're like the sweetest guy alive. The way you speak about your wife is the way I speak about my wife. Yeah, and she's your best friend.
Yep.
So Being only 2 weeks in, I wanted to know what's the best thing about marrying your best friend?
I love everything about it. I mean, the fact that you just know, it clicks. Yeah. It's like, that's what's, you know, whether people want to get married or not, being with that person when you know it, it's like, when you know it's not worth being with anyone else to not be with that person, I think that's the best thing ever. There it is. Ooh, okay. Oh, it's pickles. I could smell it.
Didn't even have to touch it.
I didn't even have to. I was actually gonna go in, but I was like, nope.
You could have one if you want, but you know.
I'll be honored. I'll eat a pickle. I was gonna say the F word, but I'm not gonna say that. I don't know what our language is.
There you go, there you go, he nailed it.
Oh, it's here. Oh, now, yeah, that's, that's some sort of hot dog.
That's hot.
Dang, I'm touching it.
Yeah, hang on, wait, before you touch the blindfold, wait, give me something else. No, yeah, here.
Oh, you're gonna help me? That's so nice of you. Oh, Schneider's, that's a thing. Oh, I feel it, something Something great. Oh, what is going on?
So yeah, y'all lost the string. Lost the string, but I wanted to know if you could give us a little ukulele acoustic.
Ukulele acoustic.
Lights Down Low.
See, with the 3 strings.
Yeah, 3 strings. Like, it's gonna be a challenge.
I'll do it with this. Yeah. Yeah, now I'm feeling your breathing slow. There we go, cut out that part. Or leave it, because we're all human.
