This is how you have the perfect morning to set yourself up for success in roofing sales. When I got started in the business, I didn't realize how much of what I did in my success was attributed to my preparation, to my mental game, and to how I started each and every day. And I know that there are a million and a half videos on YouTube dedicated to a morning routine and the perfect morning routine. And the reality is I've tried all the different morning routines and I'm just going to share with you what's worked for me. The common threads that have stitched through all of the different routines I've experimented with, from meditation to running, journaling, the cold plunge, all the things that people share with you. So I'm gonna grab a seat here and let's jump into it. If you're new, welcome or welcome back. If not. Hey, my name is Adam Bensman and everything that I'm doing here on my channel has taken a new shift to help roofing salespeople and companies get a first mover advantage in a very fast changing world that is roofing sales. So. So what I want to share with you are timeless strategies to help you have your best sales year ever. So let's rock and roll. And I'm looking, speaking of preparation, at my notes here. So number one on the list is no phone. Most people wake up and you're instantly in panic mode. You reach for your phone on the bedside table, you check it and you dive right into notifications and instantly your mind is spun up or you reach over, you grab your phone, you're on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or whatever is your platform of choice for distractionism. And your mind is being fed garbage from the minute you open your eyes. So one of the best habits that I got into is actually keeping my phone in a charging dock, not next to my end table. And yes, I got an old school alarm clock and it's been game changing for me. Number two on the list, fill your cup. It is very easy in roofing sales to fall into the trap of just work, work, work, work, work. And then before you know it, all you've ever done is work. And I know that there are people out there that are, that are like, hey, you should be working six days a week and work really hard. And that's, that's the name of the game. And I understand, like, strong work ethic is really important, but we need to do the things that fuel us first. And as my coach Devin Bandison says, and I'll never forget I was at one of his events, and he sits there and he grabs the teacup in a saucer and he fills it with water. And then he starts splashing it out and says, see, this is how most people serve people. They fill their cup, they give it to others. At the end of the day, they fill their cup back up. But he goes, I want to challenge you. I want to challenge you. And he starts. Starts pouring water into the cup, and it's overflowing all over the carpet. And I'm like. He's like, that's how you serve people. You serve people with your overflow. So each and every one of us has different things that we do that fills our cup. And for me, what fills my cup is silence. I wake up and I'll tell you my current routine, which I've shared. And if you've been a fan of the channel and you've watched my videos, you'll see that my routine has changed. But now my routine, I wake up and it varies on which order, but I'll make a cup of tea. I don't drink coffee anymore. I've gone, yes, coffee, no coffee. But anyway, I drink Matcha, and I'll grab a tea, and I'll sit down with my journal, and I'm either journaling thoughts or ideas. I have a gratitude journal, and I'm actually reading from it here. The three things I'm grateful for. Lost a pen. And then the two things that would make today extraordinary. The most important thing. And then my daily vitamin. My daily vitamin is a mindset technique used, and I shared some of this in my interview I did with Daeshaun Bryant on Head Trash. So I'll grab one of those things from my creative life document, and I'll focus on that for my mindset. So that's what fills my cup. And then I do a meditation. I meditate every morning, and occasionally thoughts will come up and I'll jump back in a journal. I like to do learning. I'll jump into a book or an audiobook or a podcast. I'll watch YouTube videos that fill me up. And I start my day by investing in myself so I can best serve others. So that's number two now. Number three on the list. This is my favorite. Earning learning. Okay, I gotta walk for this one. Earning learning. In roofing sales, we spend so much time behind the wheel, an immense amount of time behind the wheel. And for many of us, you can turn windshield time into learning time. And the reason that I'm going decided to walk for this One is, I know the way that my brain works. When I'm moving, I think more clearly. I have a standing desk. Now that I'm trapped. I'm jealous of you. You get to be out in the field doing what I'm doing. Right now I have a standing desk with a treadmill. But if I'm out for a walk, I've got earbuds in. I'm doing what I call earning learning. I'm investing in myself, in what I call million dollar skill sets. And if you don't believe me on this, I'm going to share with you what a million dollar skill set is. Imagine that you find just one thing that, like you're just listening to an audiobook or a podcast or you're tuning in on YouTube and you get this one skill, that one skill helps you close one more deal a week. If you had a $2,000 commission. And that one skill, like maybe it's overcoming an objection, something like, I have to talk to my wife about it. And it helps you get that deal. And you do that 50 weeks in a year, assuming you have two weeks of vacation, two weeks off or something, you know, well, guess what? All of a sudden you just, that's $100,000 of income attributed to one little golden nugget. And this is really what separates the people who are at the top of their game and those that do. Okay. And when you, when you, when. The way I can quantify that million dollar skill set, if you do that for 10 years and you find one skill set, that makes you 100 grand a year, it's a million dollar skill set. But that's just one. So all this compounds. So in your morning, whether it's out for a walk, doing dishes, doing a workout, I now have YouTube playing. When I do workouts, I'm learning. I have a audio book in or a podcast. So that's. Number three, is your earning learning. Number four, review your day. And I do this again. I'm holding my journal, I'm on a walk with it. This thing literally lives with me. So you're reviewing your day. I review my day on my calendar. I know what meetings are coming up and I have a game plan and it mentally prepares me for what I'm going to tackle. So when you're going to be out knocking doors, you're reviewing your day, what installs are coming up, where your leads are in the neighborhoods, what doors you're going to knock, how you're going to work, referrals. Okay, and then number five, five Daily goals. Now, this is different than what I've shared in the past. I used to be very single goal minded and I'd say things like, hey, I want to set a goal for the day. Like, I'm going to close a deal. One sale, two sales, whatever it is. And I realized that, at least for me, I like to check things off. So I feel like I'm winning because winning creates momentum. So I like to have five daily goals to seven. And I call it my daily flow list. So what I'll do is I write down my daily flow list and I'll put in all the things that are my mini goals. And they are not always all work. Like, if filling your cup might be working out, then on your flow list is working out. It could be signing that deal. Peggy. You've been working with Peggy. It could be getting a referral from a homeowner. It could be getting certain estimates out in the mail. Look at this. I see it more and more. No soliciting signs on homes. Yeah, and another one right across the street right there. This neighborhood must have been smashed last. Last year this area got totally torched with hail, hence these new roofs. And. Yeah, anyway, lots of new roofs in this neighborhood. But my point is, when you have that daily flow list, when you check them off, that gives you that dopamine hit and you feel like you're winning. And when you feel like you're winning, you keep winning. And success is momentum, at least to me. So that's number five. All right, number six. This one's my favorite. And that is visualization. And some people are going to criticize me and think it sounds hooky, but hear me out. And if, you know, if you can cite the book, because I can't remember which book I read this in, but there was a gentleman who was a prisoner of war and he was imprisoned for a very, very long time. And he loved playing golf. So while he was imprisoned, he played his favorite golf course in his head every day, visualizing his swing and going through it, everything down from walking between the holes. And then when he was finally released, the war was over. And I believe I could have swore it was World War II, but I don't remember if it was that or Vietnam War, any. Anyway, he ended up playing his very best golf game he'd ever played. And the reason for that is rehearsing it, because those repetitions count. So when you visualize yourself succeeding, when you visualize yourself being at the door and feeling confident and being confident you will be, you'll kill it. So visualization when you again putting this all together and then I'll hit number seven for you is again waking up with no phone. You got a clean mind. Number two is filling your cup. Number three is earning learning. Number four is reviewing your day. Five your daily goals and six visualizing in self talk. You're set up for success so you can jump right into number seven which is starting your day with your money making activities. I was inspired to do this by the way by Brian Tracy years ago in his book Eat that Frog which talks about doing the things that are big and that scare you first thing in the morning. So you gain success momentum and you tackle the most important thing. And that's a journaling exercise I do to this day is my mit, my most important thing. I do it right when I get up and I write down what's the most important thing and that's how I start my day. Every day is doing the most important thing. So even if it's early in the morning and you can't be out knocking doors, you can get your preparation in knowing where you're going to be, how you're going to work the neighborhood, doing role play. If you're, you know, it doesn't matter what your role is or what you're doing, when you know the most important thing, you either jump right into it or prepare for it. And there you go. That, in my opinion, is the magic morning for you to make crazy money in roofing sales. I hope it helps and I want to know from you what is the most important thing that you do to start your morning. Love to hear it in the comments below. And if you're new in roofing sales, jump into this very next video because I'm going to help you make your very first sale. We'll see you soon.
