Best Pitches For Roofing Sales (DON’T Take This FB Group’s Advice!)

Adam Bensman (the Roof Strategist) critiques poor door-to-door roofing sales advice from a Facebook group and presents a structured alternative: use a process (not a word-for-word script) that identifies the homeowner's scenario and presents the matching solution. He emphasizes addressing the homeowner's two immediate questions (who are you, what do you want), mirroring customer energy, being genuine, and using his SLAP formula and a "Pitching Matrix" to handle 11 distinct scenarios (and a taxonomy of 7 mindsets / 4 scenarios). He cites a case where a team using his system grew from $150,000/month to $700–900,000/month and directs viewers to related videos and contact CTAs (text/demo links) for deeper training.

What are the best pitches when selling at the door for both Storm and retail? It came up yet again in this Facebook group and it says new and roofing sales. What are some pitches for when knocking doors for retail and Storm? And what was shocking to me is the advice that this post created is some of the absolute worst sales advice I have ever heard in my entire life. And the problem is Storm. So many of these groups on Facebook, these industry groups, people are posting anonymously, people are chiming in, wanting to help. There's a new expert around every single corner. And half the time when these responses come up, because it's a free place that's unfiltered and unregulated, you have people who are completely unqualified to give advice. But for many of the bystanders who are engaging in these groups, you look at them, you say, oh, well, they're doing that. That must be great. That must be helpful. And we turn to these as, like the ultimate mentorship guide. Now, I'm going to share two responses that came up that I believe we were the absolute worst. So be incredibly cautious about who you turn to, what you turn to, and where you find advice, because if you listen to this advice, I promise you, it will truly destroy your sales. Period. Now, let's get started. Alright, welcome or welcome back. Adam Bensman here, the roof strategist. And everything that I do here on my channel is designed to help you and your team smash your income goal and give every customer an amazing experience. And if you're new here, welcome. I'm so glad to have you here. It would mean the world to me if you hit that subscribe button and the bell because even that little tiny gesture, I haven't asked anything of my audience, by the way, and I hate asking for this stuff, but the reality is I got to play by the rules. And the rules here I. On YouTube, when folks are engaged, it helps us get in front of more people, which helps me be able to produce more content and help you make more money. So if you haven't done it yet, do me a favor. Hit that subscribe button and the bell right now. It'd mean the world to me. Thank you so much. Now, no more of that jazz. Let's rock and roll, shall we? I want to get back into this post. A new person in a Facebook group asking for advice. And I told you I'd share with you the two worst pieces of advice that I heard. And then I'm going to share with you what I believe to be the best way to pitch at the door first, let's jump in. I'm redacting names here because I'm not here to throw anyone under the bus. I'm not here to shame anybody that doesn't jive with me. I'm using this as a learning opportunity so I'm going to read first the first response. I never have a pre planned pitch. I just go with the flow. Kind of just go off the vibe the homeowner gives when they first answer the door. There's been a time or two where we talked and BS'd and I about left without even mentioning the roof. Is this good sales advice friend? Is it? If someone says I don't have a preplanned pitch, I go with the flow and I show up to small talk with people and I leave without even mentioning the roof. One, you're not even selling and two, you're wasting your time and their time. Alright? Plus there's a tremendous amount of times which you have had these experiences where the homeowner answers the door and like the other member of the channel, by the way, he says to me, Adam, I had a customer answer the door and said I'll give you 10 seconds go. By the way, if you want to learn how I pitch in those scenarios, watch that video, it's called the 10 Second Pitch. If you're not on YouTube, jump on YouTube and search 10 Second Pitch. The roof strategist, you're going to find it. Now those scenarios or the time you know where the homeowner answers the door and peers around it and they're like okay, cut to the chase. Your go with the flow vibe and shooting the breeze and trying to buddy up with them will go absolutely nowhere because the homeowner, just like you when they hear this sound and they're sitting in their house, it's 5:30 at night and they're not expecting when they're going to look around they're going to say honey. And they have two questions that come in their mind. They're the same two that you probably have. Question number one, who the heck is that? Huh? Honey, do you know who it is? No. Question number two, what the heck do they want? Which is why we need to in our pitch address those two questions that are going on in their mind subconsciously, instantly. Who are you? What do you want? And jump right to it. No need for building up all this small talk. All right, next worst piece of advice I heard is this one. The best pitch is not to use a pitch. Be genuine while helping them. Most will See right through the pitch bs. Okay, now there's a couple pieces of these poor pieces of advice that are actually good. Okay. And I just want to highlight and address those first before we continue. Now, advice number one, going with the flow and the vibe of the customer. Absolutely. Called mirroring. And it's powerful in sales. So if I had this level of energy that I do right now in this video, and I was dealing with a prospect who at their door, maybe he walked out on the porch, he's talking to me, he's doing that classic lean on the truck, but he's talking really slow with me, and he's just a really calm guy. Do you think that I should have that level of energy? I do. No, I need to mirror him and match his energy. So absolutely. Now, the next thing that I really liked that this other gentleman said is be genuine while helping them. Absolutely. And I also agree that people will often see through a pitch BS for sure. Because when you use a word for word pitch, you sound like a robot. And there are a variety of different scenarios that you will sell to. One of the greatest problems in roofing sales is that we show up offering free services. I'm here, free, free, free. And we bleh, bleh, bleh, we're vomiting solutions all over our customers. But the reality is, is if you're selling storm and retail, you need to know a total of 11 different scenarios to present to. 11. Yet for some reason, in roofing sales, one of the most widespread problems is people just say, this is the way to sell a roof. I taught you how. This is the way. There's one way you present and you sell. It's absolute garbage. And if you don't believe me, I'm going to ask you some questions. If you're selling storm, are you going to sell to someone the same way when they say, hey, my roof is fine. We've lived here for 20 years. We don't have any leaks. Are you going to sell to them the same exact way as if you show up at the door and they say, hey, you know what? We actually already called our insurance company and they said, we have no damage, we're good. And you're going to sell to them the exact same way as the homeowner that says, hey, you know what? My insurance company was already out. We're actually sitting on a check. We're just waiting to get estimates. Yeah, you're probably thinking, no, because if this person doesn't know they have damage, this person's insurance company said they have no damage and this person already has a check from the insurance. These are different scenarios, by the way. All in. There's seven total mindsets, four scenarios. If you want to learn more about this for both storm and retail, watch my video called the Pitching Matrix. We'll put a link up here and I want you, if you're not on YouTube, jump on YouTube and search pitching Matrix, the roof strategist. You'll find that video. I break all this down in more detail that I can get into today. Alright, now next thing, if you're selling retail, are you going to sell the same to someone that has an active leak as you are to someone that says, hey, you know what, thanks for coming out. We just needed to get an estimate so we can start planning ahead financially for when we need to replace our roof in five to seven years? No, you're not. There are different scenarios than people are in. Our mission at the door is not to have a word for word script, but it is to have a process. Because when you try to wing it, like many new salespeople do, when you walk up, this approach right here, as you walk up to the door builds tremendous anxiety because you don't know what to say. The homeowner answers the door, you freeze like a deer in the headlights. Cat got your tongue? You don't know what to say. You fumble your way through it and you probably vomit out some solution like, hi, I'm in the neighborhood offering a free inspection. I love your cat, by the way. Your cat, adorable. Hey. So this free inspection will take me like 10 minutes and then you go into this little thing. What we need to do is follow the slap formula. And if you're unfamiliar with the slap formula, then I want you to jump in my free training center right now. There's a link in the description and I have two playlists that you're going to watch. One is called canvassing and the other one is called pitching. And when you're in there, you're going to find the pitch like a pro video training library. That's where those playlists are. Get in. Right now there's a link in the description. Okay. Or text VRE F R E E to 03:03-22-27133 will get you all the details you need on understanding this framework and formula without using word for word. And what it allows you to do is like throwing a dart in the fastest way possible. When the homeowner answers, we're going to address those two concerns. Who the heck is it? And what do they want. And then we're going to ask an open ended question. By the way, that's the s say hi, you can break the ice if it makes sense or skip it if it doesn't. L is you're going to let them know why you're there. You're, you're going to make it relevant and purposeful to them in their neighborhood and then you're going to a ask an open ended question. Why? Because there's two types of people in a conversation. Person number one is the one asking the question and person number two is the one answering the question. Who's in control? You guessed it, the person asking the question is the one in control, yet the person who feels like they are in control is the one answering. So my mission at the door is to ask an open ended question so that the homeowner and I are in a conversation and I'm making them comfortable because they feel like they're in control. When I ask an open ended question such as hey, where are you at in the process? And they respond like what process are you talking about? Now instantly I know that they think the roof is fine or if I say where are you at in the process? And they say hey, you know, we're actually in the middle of collecting estimates for our roof. Now I know that if it's retail where they're at and if it's storm that their insurance company already paid for the roof and they're sitting on a check and they want estimates which instantly I can throw that dart and within seconds I know the fastest way to present to them on what I call the pitching matrix. And if you haven't watched that, get on YouTube now or click this link and watch my video pitching matrix, the roof Strategist. Again, it's a really powerful video that will help you really quickly dial in. Okay, well I have all these ways I can help a homeowner, but all that's relevant is there right here. So skip all this stuff. I'm just going to talk about to what they need so that way you're not vomiting solutions all over your prospects like free inspection. Because someone that doesn't even know they have damage does not want to say yes to a free inspection because they don't think they have a problem that your solution solves. So we need to identify the problem and then present to it. Now. Just yesterday I got an email from someone and it's right here. By the way, I'm going to share this with you. I got this email and it's A gentleman who started knocking doors, didn't use to knock doors, started knocking doors using my system and the SLAP formula that I teach. And he says, awesome. Just some feedback. Just before we started door knocking, we were selling 150,000amonth. Okay, that's company wide. And now we're selling 700 to 900,000 per month. Appreciate the good content more than you know. This gentleman is using my sales system. He's actually emailed me because he's about to go with his team to an Owens Corning event coming up in Q1 that I'll be speaking at. He said, should my team be going to this? I said absolutely. And he gave me this feedback. Now he went from 150,000amonth to almost a million a month using these systems in door to door sales because his team knows how to pinpoint the problem and sell to the solution. So if you or your team or your future hires need a platform that you can plug anybody in the new people especially to learn how to quickly start the conversation at the door, identify the problem and present to it confidently and start getting numbers like that, then click the link in the description to get a demo or text. Demo to 303-222-7133 and let's set up for your best year yet. Hey, thanks for joining me in today's video. Just because our time here is about to wrap does not mean you're in. My time has to. If you haven't watched the videos I've mentioned for the first one that you should start with at the end of this, click into there and if you haven't done it, I got a freebie for you and that's my free training center where I have the entire playlist on canvassing and pitching that I promised before. Click that, get in there, there's no catch and I will see you on the next one.
