D2D Pitch For New Neighborhoods // Roofing Sales

Adam Bensman (the Roof Strategist) gives a short tutorial on how to open conversations when doing door-to-door roofing sales in a neighborhood for the first time. He emphasizes creating familiarity and intention by naming the street, giving a truthful reason for visiting, and using open-ended questions (e.g., "When was the last time you had your roof inspected?") with separate scripted variants for retail (age of roofs) and storm-damage situations. The video includes calls-to-action directing viewers to a free training center (link) and text-based CTAs.

What do you say at the door when you're showing up in a neighborhood for the very first time and you can't use the reason that makes it easy, like, hey, we're doing Peggy's house today. We're doing Peggy's house next week. Hey, we just finished roofing Peggy's house. When you don't have that to say, what do you do? Because the last thing you want to do is sound like that robot that was dropped off in a panelist van, some canvassing team, like, where am I? And then you show up at the door and you're like, hey, we're in the neighborhood today talking to your neighborhood PA and we're here offering free inspections. And then you sound like, what neighborhood are you in? Do you even know where you are offering free inspections? No, no, no, no. We're going to put an end to that. And in this video, I'm going to teach you a foolproof and super simple way to start your conversation at the door, to be really natural and really familiar. So you, my friend, show up on purpose and with confidence and you can get on even more roofs before we get to it. Welcome or welcome back. My name is Adam Bensman, the roof strategist. And everything that I do here is designed and your team smash your income goal and give every customer an amazing experience. And in this video, I'm going to be diving in to some fundamentals of pitching at the door when it comes to door to door sales in roofing sales. And I can only cover so much here in this video. Alright, so how do we have a familiar approach at the door now when we are showing up unsolicited, that's direct sales or door to door sales. We need to create this level of familiarity. Like we're not just showing up for the very first time and hoping a customer says yes to our offer. The other thing we want to do is give the impression that we are there on purpose intentionally, not just like walking around the clipboard like, all right, this Address next. Hi, we're in your neighborhood today and the homeowner is like, your neighborhood, do you even know where you are, dude? And then they're going to offer the same generic pitch. So we don't want to do any of that. We want familiarity and intention and it is this simple. So when you are knocking doors in the neighborhood for the very first time, once you knock on that door and you step back, you can say, hey, my name's Adam and the reason I'm stopping by today is I'm talking to some of the folks here on Lexington Lane and I'm going to name their street. It doesn't matter if I've gotten on their roof yet or not, because it is truthful. You are there talking to neighbors on that street and that brings in the intention. It shows that you know where you are. Then we're going to explain why we are stopping by. For example, on the retail front, the reason I'm stopping by today, Mr. Homeowner, most of the homes that were built here in Lexington Lane were built in the 1990s, which are making these roofs quite old right at that point where they begin to have problems and need replacing. And before the homeowners are developing leaks or problems, we're in the neighborhood today to help. So before we go any further, when was the last time you had your roof inspected and routine maintenance conducted? And then bingo, the open ended question has been fired. And now that homeowner can respond with what are you talking about? Or man, we do have a leak, we've been needing an estimate, our roof is old and that is the easiest way to start the conversation. Now when it comes to the storm damage side of things, we can explain, hey, my name is Adam and the reason I'm stopping by, I'm talking to some of the folks here on Lexington Lane about that storm that came through in May. Many of the homeowners in the neighborhood are going through that process of getting damage identified, maybe even handled through the insurance. And while I was in the neighborhood, I just wanted to ask, where are you guys at in the process? And right there, that open ended question, where are you at in the process? The homeowner is going to spill the beans whether they have damage, whether they don't have damage, whether they've had the insurance company out with a partial payment denied, they're sitting on a check and you, my friend, are going to be able to confidently present to their answer. And that is how we make it really familiar, very intentional and very easy. For the first time that you're in a brand new neighborhood. Whether you're a seasoned, excuse me, a seasoned veteran getting in a new neighborhood or you're just learning to knock doors, I really hope this video helps. Now if you're someone that wants to take your door knocking skills to to the next level, you want to learn how to approach the door for every single true to life scenario. All 7. In a storm environment 4. In a retail environment, you want to learn how to present confidently. Once you get up on that roof inside the house, you can close deals. Well, I would love to guide you through that process, whether it's you or your team.
