LIVE From Cheyenne Scouting a Small Hail Storm [Lunchtime LIVE]

A live YouTube field video by Adam Bensman (the “roof strategist”) documenting his on-site scouting of a small, directional hailstorm in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Adam walks through how he found damage (using hail maps, aerials, driving for signs like damaged RVs/campers), highlights one property on Pierce Street with visible siding and fascia damage, and demonstrates his SLAP canvassing formula (S: say hi/break the ice; L: let them know why you’re there; A: ask an open question; P: present to their answer). He gives practical operational tips: bring binoculars, document everything, set up a mobile office in the vehicle, favor quick inspections (ladder/photos) and use fresh-storm timing to open neighborhoods. He notes the reported hail size was about 1–1.25 inches, mentions an approximate storm date (around July 26, unclear), and emphasizes working small, directional fringe storms efficiently.

Hey, everybody, Adam here, the roof strategist. We are live from my van in Cheyenne at Rhymes. I didn't even plan on it. What's up, Nathan? And I'm out scouting a small hailstorm. I'll be talking all things scouting today. Please be flexible with me, guys and gals. Cell phone signals are only as strong as they are, so if I have trouble, I might get out of my van and start cruising around. But check this out. I'm going to be talking about how to find the right storm and a whole bunch of other goodies. But look at this. Boom. She smoked. So came around the neighborhood. I don't know if this will show up on YouTube, but the siding shows clean marks in the wood and all those windows are showing a whole bunch of damage on the screens. And then when you look way up, even the fascia board, which again, this is tough. On my cell phone through the truck, see if I can scooze in. Anyway, this thing smoked, torched, and the other picture showed up better on camera, but. And if you miss it, you're just joining in. I'll show that house again that I found. So listen, guys, when it comes to scouting a hailstorm, there's a little storm in Cheyenne, only one to one and a quarter inch reported, but I don't live too super far away. And I said, you know what? I'm going to check this out because I want to teach people how you can find and work a small little hail storm and be really, really profitable. So this entire time, I've seen two roofs that have been done. This storm happened two, I think two weeks ago. It was on July 26th. I don't know the date. Maybe not even two weeks ago. And those two roofs might have been retail jobs. And a lot of folks won't travel for these, in my opinion. The minute it hails, go check it out. I do my initial recon on checking out the hail map and then looking at aerial measurements of Google Maps. I want to see if it, you know, there's good homes in the area. And Cody, I am up in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Small little city, technically a town or technically a city, small little town. And driving through, you know, I saw nothing. I saw nothing. I saw some old damage, which I have some other videos I'm putting together, mini scouting series, so you'll see some of that. But then I just kept at it. I kept at it and then I found this little subdivision. And again, I'm just parked in front of this house. So for anyone that's just joining Pretty darn clear. And what you'll notice, you see the clean marks there. Now it's showing up on the siding. You can see all the clean marks from the hail just peppered this thing. And all the way up the gable ends. And again, no one is in here. And Cody. Yeah. So this is on. Shoot. What's the name of the street? I think it's Pierce. Pierce street in Cody, Wyoming. So race. But yeah, no one's here. So anyway, key takeaway is this. I brought my trusty binoculars, which I've been using. I have another video coming out on that. But you'll notice, like, this guy's behind me loading dumpsters. Must be moving. But anyway, when I see roof vents and such, I'm cruising through and I'm taking a look up at those. I want to find where that hail is. And what's really interesting is again, I saw nothing. And then I saw three things that caught my attention. I saw a camper, like an rv, aluminum one just destroyed. And I said, you know what? It's an old one. Those are common to get destroyed out here. Drive by, next one's destroyed. I found three of them. That's coming up in another video as well. Said, hail's here. And I thought, what an awesome way to use the slap formula, my canvassing formula, to go up to the door like this. So s say hi and break the ice. L let them know why you're there, why you're there. A ask an open ended question and p present to their answer. So what I would have done is drive through, see that house, and stop and say a, hey, my name's Adam. I couldn't help but notice your camper was just leaving Peggy's house just down the road on Pierce, helping her with her hail claim. And I just saw this. I couldn't help but wonder what might happen to your roof. And I wanted to ask you, how has the insurance process been for you or how has the process been with your roof? So you'll notice the S is say hi and break the ice. I mentioned their camper. L let them know why you're there and make it familiar. Said, I'm driving by, I saw the camper, I'm leaving a customer's house. And then a ask an opening question. I wanted to ask how the insurance process has been for you or how the roof process has been for you. And wait for their answer. And then if they say, oh, it's old, and say, great, I'm glad I'm here. If they say, hey, this Is super fresh. Oh, have you had it looked at yet? I've got my ladder. If you have any objection if I have to find your roof for complimentary inspection, I'll take some photos and videos, let you know what I find. So by the way, I got another email right before this saying that no objection thing is killing it. So anyway, a couple of other key factors is those campers, all three of them were only hit on one side. Not finding any damage on any homes. And then seeing this, like, the thing is just smoked. But again, this is a very, very. What I'm seeing so far, a very directional storm. So meanwhile, this house on the other side is, you know, I don't see anything. I don't see anything on, like the foliage on the ground. Like, this thing was small. It seemed like there was pockets. But if I was within an hour or two of a drive and I had nothing going on, I. I have an incredible opportunity to work this thing. The other thing that I want to bring up is on these fringe storms, I passed a few homes with aluminum siding, Few homes with older three tab roofs. These are great, great homes to use that fresh storm date to open up. So a lot of people. And I got another email today from a guy in Florida. Hey, I've been working the storm, or excuse me, working in Florida, but the last storm was three years ago. What can we do? And it doesn't take much. All you need is that little. That little gold mine to open up a new neighborhood and a new opportunity. And don't be afraid. Like, take your time scouting this guy that's loading up this dumpster over my shoulder. I don't know if you can see it. He's got a for sale sign there. That would also be a great person I'm sitting here to talk with. Roll down my window, get out and use that pitch that I. By the way, videos come in this Sunday on maximizing your time driving to ask him, hey, listen, I saw the dumpster. I see your for sale sign. Did you see what happened to your neighbor's house? Have you had your roof looked at? I'd hate to see something come up, you know, in the home inspection process and hold up the sale. So that's. That's that. Let's see what Cody says. Have a good day, man. Nice seeing you there. Our guys are kind of on the other side of town. They signed right in the neighborhood of 20 in the first couple days. That's awesome, Cody. That's way, way awesome. And yeah, I didn't. I saw Light stuff on the other side of town and this, this northwest side of town has it. And again, I'm not out scouting for anyone. Just sharing, sharing the good news as I see it come in. So glad to see that it's working for folks. So again, to make the most your time in those scouting efforts, don't be afraid to talk to people. This guy, you'll probably see him over my shoulder, literally going in and out of the house, throwing stuff away. What a casual time to catch somebody. So shorter video today. Glad, hopefully so far, knock on wood. The 4G signal work for the scouting in the field. And the only thing I want to leave you with on this just before we wrap it up is take a look because I'm putting together a little mini series on scouting. So I documented some of the things I found in some of this process to give you some tips and strategies for this. The other thing I really want to recommend is just making the most of your time and documenting the snot out of everything. Where you've been, what neighbors you've been in. In a new area, you can get turned around super, super quick and make sure you have a mobile office set up. So I've got in my passenger seat my notepad, I've got my binoculars. It's hard to see in the back of the van. I have a cooler there and then behind it is a little bench and little toilet for when things get. But I drag it and I just set my laptop up and I can work. And again, I'll have a better setup. This van's new. My old F150. I folded the seats back up and I could work out of it, but by maximizing the time, whether you're waiting for an adjuster, whether you're waiting for a homeowner to call in a claim, whether when you can be efficient in the field, it's a huge, huge, huge advantage to help you win more business. So I know YouTube's got just a slight delay and what I'm gonna do is wrap this one up. I'm gonna take a quick peek, see if there's any questions that come in. In the meanwhile, click thumbs up. Like, if you guys, if you like these videos in the field, I wanna do more of them. If you prefer my whiteboard and kind of the visual piece of taking notes, let me know. I really want to keep everything on this channel focused on what's most helpful for you. Subscribe if you haven't already, so you don't miss any of these videos and any of these lives. You'll get notified of when those happen. And if you haven't done so, grab a free copy of the pitch Like a pro roofing sales training video library. There's a link in the description. I get questions all the time. Have you done a video on this? Have you done a video on this? And the answer is if I haven't, I'll add it to the queue. But chances are there's a video that will help you right now in there and it's organized by category. So take a peek and as always, you can check out the marketing battle pack back by my money back guarantee. But in the meanwhile, let's look at this goodness. That's all. All right, guys, thanks for joining in live. I didn't see any other things fly in the chat, so we're going to wrap this one up and call it a day. I will see you on the next one. Keep an eye out Sunday for a video on maximizing your time in the truck making sales. That's all. See you guys soon.
