Re-Inspections on Storm Damaged Roof Claims? How to Get Homeowners on Your Side

Adam Bensman (the Roof Strategist) presents a YouTube tutorial showing roofing professionals how to get homeowners to request re-inspections after storm-damage claims are denied or underpaid. He offers a three-step script: (1) explain what a reinspection is and reassure it's free/no penalty, (2) explain why a second opinion matters and apply risk-reversal, and (3) explain why the contractor's expertise and value matter and position themselves as the contractor-of-choice; closes with urgency that this is the last shot before legal/appraisal routes. The video also promotes a "Giving November" charitable sale and further training resources.

It's a stab to the heart. It's a stab to your integrity. You know what I'm talking about. Sign of contingency, you meet with the adjuster, they get off the roof. And of course, they love to do this. They love to communicate to the homeowner. Right. With you standing behind them, that they didn't see any damage or they're only paying for a few small repairs. And basically, you don't know what you're looking for, what you're talking about. And now you have this wedge drawn between you and the homeowner and the insurance company and the homeowners doing the either like, my insurance company is evil, I'm so glad Adam's here, or they're saying, my insurance company I've been with for forever. I trust them, and Adam's a scumbag. And it's very, very difficult either way because now we're facing this uphill battle when we deal with these denials or partial payments. And our mission is to communicate clearly on how to get that reinspection filed. And that is what I'll be teaching you in today's video is three very simple explanations, three points to hit to get that homeowner back on your side. Whether they're distrusting or even if they are, like, you know, just upset about the situation, you still need to get that reinspection filed. And good news, this exact process is going to work for you for the time that you knock the door and the homeowner answers and says, you know, it's all right, we don't need you. Our insurance company was already out and said we had no damage, or our insurance company was already out and they're paying for a few small repairs. For those folks who already agree with their insurance company and think they don't have damage, this explanation is three simple steps is going to help you get that homeowner on your spot, on your side and get that reinspection called in. Before we get into it, I just want to say welcome or welcome back. My name is Adam Densman, the roof strategist, and everything I do here on the channel is designed to help you smash your income goals and give every customer an amazing experience. And sometimes that experience doesn't start off so amazing, and it's up to us to save it. So right before we get into today's video, where I teach you this three simple steps to get homeowners 900 and get that inspection called in, I just want to share one thing with you, and that is my giving November Sale. This is a charitable sale that you get 50 to $250 off and we donate 100 to 500 hungry people in your honor. It works for the battle pack, it works for the roofing sales success formula for both individual sales reps and entire teams. And I'd love your support in helping us feed 20,000 mouths this November. We're coming up on Thanksgiving. We can do it. We can get people the hot meals they deserve. And we're making these donations as we go. And we are very well past a third of the way there already. So if you're interested, there's a link in the video description and podcast description TheRuthStrategist.com November to get 50 to 250 off and we feed 100 to 500 hungry people in your honor and thank you all who have supported and jumped on board already. Alright, let's get into today's video. I told you I'll be teaching you three simple steps and be going through them in order. Listen, as always, I give you what I'll call the long wind version of these explanations. And the reason for that is some homeowners need you to go really deep. They need more hand holding and coddling. Yet other homeowners are like, cut to the chase. So as I give you these explanations, I want you to grab the bits and pieces that work for the scenarios you're in. Let's get started. Step number one is we want to explain what a re inspection is. And we want to do this in a way that's going to overcome the common questions and concerns of the homeowner. So, Mr. Homeowner, a reinspection is your right. Okay, you're right. And it's an opportunity to get another set of eyeballs on your claim. Listen, your home, in your home insurance is an expensive package, right? You're paying your premiums each and every month and it just allows you the right to have another set of eyes there. And Mr. Homeowner, just please know it doesn't ding you. Your policy has already been. Excuse me. Your claim has already been filed. There's no fees involved with this. It's not going to change your claims history. The claim's been opened. This is your right for another inspection. All right, this brings us to number two. We need to explain why they want to do this. And we do this very simply. Mr. Homeowner, if you were to receive news, let's say, from a doctor, and the doctor says you need major surgery, do you just say, all right, cool. When do I schedule no. What do you do? You seek a second opinion. In this second opinion is simply to validate or get another perspective on your current situation. One doctor says he needs surgery, the next one says, you know, physical therapy and this sort of treatment might help. Or let's try this first. And just like this subjective experience on health care is how insurance adjusters work. Because the criteria for hail damage or wind damage or hurricane damage changes year over year with the same insurance company. And it's up to the interpretation of the adjuster who's out there and tell your story, which I know you have, of the roof that you were on that got approved. And you're like, I don't even know why this got approved. There's no damage and the next roof you're on is totally smoked and the insurance company denies it and you are fighting tooth and nail for justice for that homeowner. So we need to explain that this subjective experience is why we take advantage of that second opinion. Now, besides the obvious of the why in the second opinion, we need to use a tool or a tactic called risk reversal. This is where we remove all of the homeowners fear and concerns about calling in that reinspection, essentially reminding them that they have everything to gain and nothing to lose. And here's how we do it. Mr. Homeowner, I just want to remind you that this reinspection is entirely free. Okay, then I want to tell you what's the worst case scenario? The worst case scenario is they come back out and we're in the same position. And remember, the claim has been filed, it doesn't cost you anything, and it's not even going to take any of your time because I'm going to handle it. So worst case, we're in this situation that we're in, it literally can't get any worse. Best case scenario, on the other hand, is that we get your roof entirely approved. And what that means for you is likely you have a brand new roof, brand new products with a manufacturer's warranty and our labor warranty, and a roof that will serve you for decades to come. So you essentially have everything to gain and nothing to lose. See how we took away their concerns, reminded them it was free, showed them that worst case scenario, they're in the same spot. Best case scenario, they get in your roof. Now is the important part. This is how we explain why they need you. And when I say this, I want you to think about what happens if you don't do this, if you don't explain why they need you. What are they going to do? They're going to do the classic, well, you know what, thanks for explaining this to me. I'm going to call in for that reinspection, see what they say and then I'll be in touch. Maybe you can give me an estimate. Right. And all of a sudden the power of that contingency agreement goes away. We did all this work and we know that there's a much lower likelihood of them going to bat on their own and getting the favorable outcome without us. So we lose the deal. So it's critically important on step number three to communicate why they need you. And we do that with three little bullet points that I want to share with you. Bullet point number one is to showcase your expertise. This is where we want to position ourselves differently than just a roofer, that we are in fact an insurance claims expert, a storm damage expert, and use the language that's suitable for you in the state that you work in. Alright, Number two, actually let me backstep on the expertise. Do communicate the fact that your company has access to the same software in process that the insurance company uses. So should you find any additional damage, you can document it and submit it to the insurance company on their behalf. And you know how it works. And you're going to pair your roofing industry expertise with your expertise of navigating these claims which you've gone through hundreds if not thousands of times as a company. Now the next point is to showcase the value you bring. You know one of my favorite quotes a gentleman named, was it Russell Brunson from Click Funnels, said when people pay, they pay attention. And when homeowners don't see the value in our representation, they don't appreciate it. Even though they're not paying. They need to know that there are costs involved. So the way we do this is say, hey, Mr. Homeowner, I just want you to know that the value we provide to you, whether it's our time, meeting with you now, meeting with the insurance company, our software that the insurance company uses, our back end office support, and communicating with the insurance company regarding the detail of repairs and why and how stuff needs to get handled, obviously is expensive, but we do not bill for it and that expense will never land on you. All right, now they're going to see that value then. Mr. Homeowner, I just want you to know that although there are expenses involved, the only way we get paid is by becoming the contractor of choice or the roofer of choice to do the work to replace your roof. This Is powerful language, contractor of choice, meaning they have the choice. But of course they're going to be choosing you, especially if you're working under a contingency agreement. So by hitting these bullet points of your expertise, the value you bring, and that you become the contractor of choice. Now they see the value. They know they need you there. And we can remind them, Mr. Homeowner, just as a reminder, you literally have everything to gain and nothing to lose. So if we don't get this approved, you won't be stuck with any bills using this agreement. It's dust in the wind. Alright? I wouldn't be here today if I didn't believe there was a fair shot that at getting your roof approved. All right, now, you ready for the nail in the coffin? This is the nail in the coffin. Look at my artwork. This is the nail. It's like a dagger for a vampire. So the nail in the coffin is to really let them know that they need you there. And here's what we do, Mr. Homeowner, last thing I want to share with you. Remember how I said you get that free second opinion? Well, that second opinion right here, this is even your last opinion before we have to, or you would have to pursue legal action and or appraisal, both of which can be very time consuming, expensive. So with this being the second and also your last shot, it's in your best interest to have an insurance restoration expert or storm damage expert like myself present to help you get the best possible outcome. So what do you say, Mr. Homeowner? You ready to get this called in, since you've got everything to gain and nothing to lose? And there you go. Now you have the homeowner on your side and you have these three simple talking points to explain what a reinspection is, why the homeowner should take advantage of it, remove any of the risk or concern they have, and then clearly explain why they need you there for it. And it'll work for those times where you had a claim get denied or partially paid for and those customers you meet for the very first time at the door whose insurance company was already out. And I know what you're thinking. What if you see this a lot? What if you're working in a fringe area and you have ethical concerns over selling damage that's minor or nominal. Would you call it in if it was your house? These are questions I've gotten and I did a video on it, which you can click right here to watch. And if you haven't done it already, I'd love to get you inside here to get you a free copy of my pitch like a pro roofing sales training video library so you can binge on videos organized by category and is a fantastic training tool and you can get yours here and I will see you on the next video.
