The "12-Pack" Method to Signing More Roofing Customers on Installation Day

Adam Bensman's 12-Pack method has roofers leave personalized letters and knock on doors of neighbors during active installations. Instead of the standard six-pack approach, this targets twice as many homes with handwritten-style letters that mention the ongoing work, early storm warnings, or apologize for noise, turning job sites into lead generation.

Hey, Adam here, the roof strategist. And today we're going to talk about how to drum up business while your roof is being installed, because there's no better time to leverage the very obvious installation. As you can see, that's happening over my shoulder of a roof getting installed because the noise is loud. People see people walking up on the roof. There's dumpsters or trailers, there's trucks around, and we want to make our company shine during this process. Now, most salesmen cringe. They're waiting for their crew to screw something up. They. But you can actually take control and start getting more sales. Now, the industry teaches the six pack, right? So you sign up this house, and then the neighbors on both sides, and then the three neighbors cross the street. No, no, no. I call it the 12 pack, and I use my 12 pack generator. And what my 12 pack generator is, is a letter that you use to enhance your door knocking. As you start to make contact with the neighbors that are within earshot, you'll notice. I said within earshot, not just across the street. We want to make sure everyone that can even hear those nail guns running can turn in to our customer. So here's some sample letters that I use. And again, people ask me, why do you use plain paper? Why don't you print them up and design them? Nice. The reason for that is because it feels personal. It's personal if I fill this out and I plug in my name and my title, my company name, my phone number, and I sign it, or if I staple a business card because it makes them feel like someone actually cares. I went there personally and left this. So here's how this works. I want to hang these letters depending on what stage of the storm working. In the beginning of the storm, not everyone has been through the process yet. Maybe they've filed a claim, maybe they haven't. So I'm going to hang this letter, and it says, your neighbor's roof was totaled from hail damage. Yours is likely damaged, too. And this is very relevant. And it offers our free inspection. Then the next one, your neighbors are getting a new roof and you could be too. And then again, it goes on about how the process works and how we can help. And it's all fill in the blank. And last, which is my favorite one is this one. I'm sorry about the noise. Call me personally if anything comes up. Talk about an attention grabber. If a homeowner hears that, they're going to say, wow, this company really cares about me. And they're going to ask themselves I saw four other neighbors roofs go up. Did anyone come by, a project manager or a sales rep and offer to help and alert me of the project? No. So this shows that you respect the neighborhood, that you're courteous of others. And if a homeowner is there, you knock on the door and you say, oh, I'm sorry, I didn't expect you to be home. I just wanted to hand you this and let you know that we, we were doing an installation on this home and if any debris comes in your yard or if there's any noise, we just want to make sure you're comfortable. So here's my card and you can call me personally. And then you turn to walk away and you say, oh, and by the way, have you had your roof looked at yet? How has the process gone for you? And it's an open ended question. They say, oh, you know what? And then boom, you're in dialogue and now you've got a lead. This one is my favorite letter to use because it enhances door knocking and you can leave it behind. And what happens if you leave it behind and you do this house and then you hang more letters again on the next house? You do. All of a sudden people have seen three or four of these and you will get leads out of them. So if you're interested in using these, these are all fill in the blank.
