Now, whether you're a brand new salesperson or seasoned pro, listen up because in this video, I'm going to be teaching you three ways to upgrade yourself so you can sell even more. And in this video, you're going to know exactly what you need to do in order to upgrade yourself to sell even more. You're going to have three specific things to follow so you can do it. And you're going to feel incredibly confident pinpointing exactly what you need to do that's going to make the biggest difference in your life and in your sales life. And then confident actually doing it by knowing exactly what needs to happen. Are you ready? Hey, before we jump in, if you're new here, my name is Adam Bensman, the roof strategist. And I help salespeople and teams just like you develop personal sales strategies to smash your income goals. So click that subscribe button and click the bell so you don't miss any of my upcoming videos. Now, before we jump into all the nitty gritty, I want you to remember two things, okay? Two very important points before we get into the three things. Three ways to upgrade yourself. Now, point number one is this. As we develop personally in roofing sales, and you've heard me say this before, the byproduct is we earn more. So when we develop or upgrade our skills personally, professionally, our communication, our ability to close, all these things, when we improve ourselves, the byproduct is earning more. That's one of the most beautiful parts of roofing sales. This ain't no desk job where you just get paid a flat salary. No matter how much you work, no matter how hard you work or many how hours you work in this field, you get paid more by being a better version of yourself. And this video is going to help you do that. Now, the second point is this. I want you to think of this story for a minute. Let's think of an NFL linebacker in peak performance, best condition of his entire life and he's out there playing. He gets a tackle from the side and boom, his knee goes, knee is blown out. That's his bottleneck. He's on the sidelines now, even though the rest of his body is in absolute tip top shape, peak performance, elite level athlete. The one little thing, the injury on his knee, even if it's small, is going to keep him either from getting on the field to begin with or playing at peak performance. And we all have this what we call bottleneck. And by the Way I got that word from Brian Tracy, other people call it the weakest link. So what is it that is holding us back? The bottleneck. And that's going to bring us to the first question that we're going to ask ourselves is what is your bottleneck? Alright, what is it? What's that? Just like the NFL player has the bum knee, what's the weak link for you? And here's a few examples to channel your thoughts. Okay, number one, is it confidence? Is it technical knowledge? Is it overcoming fear or rejection? Or does it have to do with sales skills? Like, hey, I want to improve my pitch at the door so I can start more dialogues. Okay, by maybe using the slap canvassing formula, for example, or is it getting inspections after you've had the dialogue? Or is it getting from the roof invited into the house? Is it how to sell using the contingency agreement? Is it closing deals or asking for referrals? Any one of these can be your bottleneck. And for me, it was confidence. That was my first big obstacle. It was confidence. So now that we know what's your obstacle, I want you to write it down. Write it down right now. Hit pause. Whether you're watching or listening to the podcast, pause and write down what your bottleneck is. What's the one thing holding you back from reaching peak performance? Just like the NFL athlete's knee. Alright, write it down. Now, after you've written it down, I want you to ask yourself, by fixing that bottleneck, what will it help? The NFL athlete says, okay, I need surgery on my knee. I'm going to do some rehab. And by going through this, I'm going to get back on the field and peak performance really quickly. So for you, if it's confidence, what will this help you do better? Well, if I'm more confident that way, the next time I show up at the door, I'm going to know exactly what to say. I'm not going to let some rejection knock me on my heels. I'm not going to get glum and walk to the next job, next home being like, oh, that guy was so mean to me and it really ruined my day. Oh, hey, my name's Adam. You know you're just going to say, who? Shake that off. Pop over. Alright, next one. Shake it off. We're good to go. Right? So by knowing what you can do better, you're now going to visualize who you will now become. Alright, now we become who we think about most of the time and that's the way you think of yourself. So if you think of yourself as some not confident, scared little person like I did, you'll become now. And it's okay if you're that now. But remember, what are you going to do better? You're going to be confident. You're going to show up with a strong, confident posture. You're going to show up with an assertive voice. You're not going to let anything rattle you. So that's understanding what you're going to do better. Alright, we're framing it. What's your bottleneck? And then by fixing it, what's it going to help you do better? Now let's jump into the three ways to upgrade. You ready? So now that you have it identified, first thing is carving out the time. I'll give you an example. For me, the time that I dedicate to upgrading myself is my mornings. I have a diligent morning routine. I wake up, I do a meditation and visualization and breathing exercise. Then on this exact tablet, I, I do all my journaling. I journal every day, even if I have nothing to say. I write things down, it sparks ideas, it helps me process things, it helps me become a better version of me so I can be a better version for you. And one of the, by the way, one of the ways that I've upgraded myself is with the far snapshot, fast action result snapshot. And I thought to myself, what's my bottleneck? Okay, how can I do better? By doing better, I'm going to help more people watch my free videos, actually put them to use and see results in their own lives whether they become a customer or not. That's what led to the far snapshot. Going through this exercise, doing it in the boom, it came and there it is. So by the way, if you're not getting the far snapshot, they only go to your inbox. So go to the roofstrategist.com there's a link in the video description. If you're on mobile, it's a little black triangle and you can get on that list there to start receiving them. So for you, when are you going to carve out the time? Is it in your mornings? Are you going to dedicate the time as you commute between jobs? You spend a lot of windshield time in this business. Or is it evenings after maybe you put the kids to sleep or you've got some quiet time, you need to dedicate the time or without time, there's no change. You cannot invest in anything without time. All right, now then, the next thing is doing the activities. I always joke When I say activities is doing the doing. You're not going to rehab a knee as an NFL player without doing the therapy, without doing the exercise, without doing the surgery, and then doing the little bands and then doing the strength training, right? So you have to do the activities. So what do those activities mean for you? If it's confidence, you're going to go do some role play for yourself with a mirror. No one's holding you back. You've got a mirror at home. Go talk to yourself. Talk to yourself in the truck. Rehearse the slap canvassing formula. Rehearse how you go through the contingency. Invite your office and other salespeople to do role play with you. By the way, it's the strongest way to improve your skills. I'll be doing a video on that more. Again, excuse me, more details on that in the future. So what activities do you need to do? Alright, identify the activities, pair them with the right time. Which leads us to point number three, which is getting access to the resources. What does this mean? Resources is big old umbrella. Right now, it could be this, the resource, for example, with the knee injury, could be exercise bands. Knowing the exact exercises to do could be that simple. Right after the surgery is done, what's my rehab like? How much should I rest, how much should I exercise? And do I have the equipment to do the exercises to regain strength? So for you, if it's confidence, what do you need to feel more confident? It could be outside the industry. It could be a book on public speaking. By the way, one book I recommend to a lot of people is a book by Oren Klef called Pitch Anything. It's fantastic. It talks about how to communicate so people hear what you're saying and react emotionally and decide to do business with you. It's a fantastic read. It could be listening to other podcasts. It could be listening to motivational and personal development leaders like Tony Robbins or Brian Tracy or Zig Ziglar. Could be any of these. Or Stephen Covey. Right? So get access to those resources and if you go a step further, they could be paid resources. Resources that you invest in things like my programs, your complete sales strategy, the battle pack, or the new sales team plan that I recently rolled out. But listen, if it's not my stuff, that's okay, because here's the truth. The right program for you is the right one that you resonate with, that feels comfortable for you to follow. There's a lot of really great programs out there, and here's the catch. And people ask Me a lot. How does this compare to that? I don't know. What I do know is this. If you are following a program, whether again, it's a paid program in the roofing industry, whether it's someone teaching you how to be confident, whether it's someone teaching you how to overcome fear or how to master your morning, whatever it is, if it feels right by you, you will confidently show up and follow the system. You'll follow the process, you'll do the doing, you'll see the results. But if you're sheepish about it, if you're like, ah, it just doesn't feel like me, I couldn't say that to someone. I don't think like that. You know what? That really doesn't align with beliefs, then that's the indicator for you to say, I shouldn't go down that road. I should go this way. So again, get access to the resources you need. Let's start free. Click the link in the description. Download a free copy of my pitch like a pro roofing sales training video library. It's all the videos I've ever done. We update it weekly and all the videos are organized by category to make it super simple for you to say, oh, I want help on objections, canvassing, confidence, body language, sales, psychology, supplementing, whatever it is. They're all categorized right there for you to just navigate. Okay, that's a great free place. The videos here on this channel, podcasts, other podcasts, other books outside the industry, personal development worlds. But again, find out what you need and get access to those resources. So here I'm going to sum this up right now for you. What you need to do to upgrade yourself to sell even more. Set the world on fire with your sales is identifying what is my bottleneck. Just like the bum knee from the NFL athlete. By fixing it, what am I going to do? Better get really clear on who you will become. Number one of the three ways to upgrade is to set aside the time you have to dedicate and commit to the time. 20 minutes goes a long way. Hell, even if you only got five, take the five minutes. Because five minutes times five times five days a week is a lot more than zero, right? Even though it's 25 minutes, it's 25 minutes. Hyper focused and dedicated in that development. Number two, do the doing, do the activities, rehearse, role play. Don't just learn. When I read books, I have entire sections in here on the books that I read. You can see I have these folders here and inside I have an entire one on the books I read, I take active notes right in here so I can do the activities, say this is what I learned. Here's how I'm going to use it, right? So do the activities and then three, get access to the resources at whatever level is comfortable for you. Now, the one little guiding compass, whether it's free or paid, is does it resonate with you? Does it match your values and beliefs? And can you confidently replicate what you learn? Can you stand in front of someone or even better yet, the mirror and go through that process that matches your style of what makes you uniquely you? Alright, so those resources are available to you. Take advantage of every free thing that's out there. Take advantage of anything that you've invested in, both time or financial, and put it to work. And by doing this, you will be well on your way to not only hitting those income goals of yours, but smashing them. And to do that, you need to upgrade yourself.
