What if I told you that one simple habit that you could do every single day would set you up for your best year ever? Well, guess what? It can. I've done it. And I started this daily habit in my very first year in roofing sales. And by doing this daily routine, which by the way, beforehand I thought was foo fooey and fluffy, it helped me not only hit my income goal, but smash it. Which is why the roof strategist, what I say here to help you smash your income goal. Because the idea isn't just to achieve it, it is to exceed it. And I did this on my very first year in roofing sales. There's 100,000, that is back in 2011, wanted to make 100,000 and I generated $140,000 of income. I blew it out of the water by 40%. I did it by following this daily habit. And from there it helped accelerate me up the ladder to chief operating officer of a company that operated in five states and six cities. To then growing into the roof strategist brand to doing everything you see here with boils down to the focus and the clarity that I've developed by doing this one daily habit. Now listen. Whoa, whoa, whoa. This video is not fluff. I'm going to be giving you tactical advice in a tactical strategy very simple, in just a few steps to start doing this to set you up for your best year ever. Now, there's three camps, people. Four, I guess we have brand new sales reps. This is you chasing the income goal. You're into roofing sales for a reason. I know it. It's to bring yourself to a better place financially. We got our season reps. Maybe that's you. What you're trying to do is double your income or get to that next six figure tier. 2, 3, 400,000 or you're trying to do it in a way where you can sell just as much but not work as many hours because it gets busy. Owners, managers, I'm putting you in the same camp. I know you're different. That's why I said three or four. You are looking to scale up your operations, create a more autonomous business, get a really efficient sales team that brings deals in. You're trying to do it by getting a little bit more hands off on the day to day, create really strong systems and processes. Whatever your best year ever means to you, it's only going to happen with a few simple components that I'll be laying the groundwork on here shortly. Now, before we get into this tactical strategy, we're Going to cover some basic groundwork to get on the same page and then we're going to end the meat and potatoes. You ready? Alright. Meat and potatoes sales business is an infinite game. We are always improving and leveling up. And I want you to think of it, if you're an NFL athlete, does that mean, oh, I reached the NFL. I don't need to practice. I'm a pro. No. But for some reason and I've fallen trapped to this too. You know, it's arrogance being in sales. I do well. I don't need to learn anymore. I'm going to learn in the field. It's all through experience. Well, no, that's like being an NFL athlete being like, well, I'll get my practice out on game day. Absolutely wrong. What happens is an NFL athlete practices more frequently harder and with a clear purpose and with coaches dedicated to their position on the field. And that's by the way, what we do inside the pitch Pro movement with a team of five mentors. Myself, Daeshaun Bryan, John Cenac, Matt Mulholland and Jim Allein. I'm not here to talk with you about that. If you're interested, there's a link in the description or you can text or call my team for some details. 303. 222, 71, 33. I want to lay this groundwork about this infinite game. There's infinite levels of ways to improve. Just like the NFL athlete that keeps training harder and harder. You win the NFL. Excuse me, the super bowl one year, it doesn't mean it's a guaranteed win the next, it means competition is going to get harder. So we need to continually level up. Now, how do we apply this to the one habit we do it like this. Before we do, I just want to say a quick welcome or welcome back. My name is Adam Bensman, the roof strategist, and I'm super excited to help you have your best year ever by sharing with you that one simple habit that I've been talking about. If you follow me on Instagram reevestrategist or on Facebook, Adam Bensven, my name you're gonna see me post stories with this journal. This journal is the Habit. And I'm gonna share with you some things in this journal and how this daily practice of journaling has changed my life. And before you're thinking, no, I'm not talking about writing down your love note to the cute girl you saw at the coffee shop. I am talking about using this as the single tool to accelerate yourself to your best year. Ever. By training and leveling up. There's something magical that happens when we take our thoughts and we distill them on paper. So, spoiler alert. What goes in here is the real magic. Your first step, go buy one of these. Jump on Amazon. I like these small ones. Why? I can carry them everywhere. If you ran into me at roofing process or roofcon this year or at any event, you've probably seen me pull this out. Take notes while we talk. Read to you some quotes of things that I read before, which, by the way, for fun, here's a few of the things I'll be sharing with you today. Because I practice what I preach. So your best year yet needs to be planned out. We're going to be talking about this right now. This new daily habit is going to start with a strong foundation of your goal. Every single personal development guru that ever lived had some saying. A goal without a plan is just a wish. You cannot hit a target you can't see. Zig ziglar for every one minute in planning, saves 10 minutes in execution. That was Brian Tracy. Everyone knows the same thing. If you want to get from here to the restaurant in the new city that you just flew to because you never been in New Orleans, are you just like, well, I want to go out to eat, so I'll just drive and pay attention? No, you plug the address into the GPS and you get there and it gives you turn by turn directions. You need to do this for yourself. So the first thing we're going to do is write down our goal and you're thinking to yourself, adam, don't be a dummy. I know I need a goal. Here's where it starts getting fun. I originally wrote a goal and I thought, I will achieve my goal. Remember, first year living sales, $100,000. Well, I'll tell you what, that goal wasn't strong enough for me because things got tough. Days got hard. I got my teeth kicked in, I got rejected. I felt depressed. I didn't want to go to work. There's days that I'd rather sleep in or go have drinks. $100,000 wasn't emotional at this point, by the way, for anyone that's tuned in late, welcome. I was earning $4. I was living off $4.20 a day in groceries. That was my grocery budget, okay? I was broke. I didn't go out to eat. That's not even enough room for a $5 footlong for me to chase. This hundred thousand dollar goal meant I could go out to eat. It meant that I could save enough money to put a deposit down or on my dream house, which by the way, my dream house was a home. My first home. Not the forever one. They never the forever one. And to pay off the debt that I had, that was my why. So I wrote down my goal and the reason for my goal. Now I will go so far as to argue that this right here, this why is more important than, than the goal itself. Because that is what will carry you through when things get hard. Why am I out here doing this? And if you ask yourself right now and I'll tell you a story. At roofing process conference I ran into a sales rep. He says, Adam, I want to make $400,000. Because I asked him what his goal was. I followed it up by asking him this. Yeah, why is that? And he looked at me like a deer in the headlights. What do you think is going to carry him through? What's $400,000 going to do for you that 350 won't or 200? There has to be a reason. So write down your goal. I want to earn X dollars so I can pay off my debt, buy a house, move my family, pay off my school debt, set up my kids college fund, donate to charity. Whatever the reason is, there needs to be a grounding force. Now we have our goal and our why. The why will carry you through. What we need to do is turn this goal into a plan. Alright? Now this is the number one mistake people make is they do not have to plan. Failing to plan is planning to fail. I wish I had a quote memory that I could tell you who said that. So if you know, drop a comment and let me know or I'll put it in the description. So failing to plan is planning to fail. We need to know. Alright, so I want to make that 100,000. And this is where most people fall short. Let me know if you've done this. You write down the 100,000 or the income goal. You write down an average sale. I'm going to use simple math because if you followed along, you know that I'm suck, I suck at math. So if I, if I get an average commission of a, I got to sell 100 roofs. Okay, just basic, basic math. Unfortunately, many people stop here and they say, Adam, I'm going to do this by working hard and putting in the time. Well guess what? How do I know that you're doing the right thing? If you told me you wanted a six pack but you went to the gym and did bicep curls and shoulder Presses all day. I'm not going to tell you you're lazy. I'm not going to tell you you're not working hard enough. But I'm going to question, why are you doing that? If you want a six pack, you need to be burning fat. You need to be doing ab work, not shoulders and arms. So what people fail to do is actually create the plan. This is the easy part, by the way. If you want my process, I'm going to guide you through it. But if you want my process, I kick things off in one of my programs called the complete sales strategy by doing this with you with a calculator, creating this plan, and I make it fun by putting this next to your stretch goal. Let's call this one 150. Okay. That's available inside the roofing sales success formula or as an add on to the battle pack. Both of those options will work for you. And if you have any questions, we have a new phone number I'd like to share with you. You can call or text 303-222-7133. That number I'll leave up on the screen here. So what we do is we break this. I need to sell 100 roofs. Well, Adam, the next question is, how do I do that? How many doors do I need to knock? How many sales appointments do I need to run? How many letters do I need to send, door hangers to leave, cold calls to make? What are the reasonable touch points? What should I be doing every day? And we're able then to break this down from a year to a month to a week, down to the day. A daily plan, which goes right here in this journal, which we're going to be talking about next. Now that we know what we need to do every day, we can then track. If we're on track for the day, we're on track for the week, we're on track for the month, we're on track for the year. We miss a day, we're off for the week, we got to pick that up. I don't want you to come. Oops. December 28th. I'm a little shy of my annual goal. Guess what? You got a few days to make it happen. It's not going to work. We need to stay on track. So step one, get a journal. Step two, write a goal and a why. Step three, break the goal into an actual plan. Year, month, week, day. Now we are turning our attention to the actual journaling process inside the journal. I'm going to share with you how I do this okay, so this is my day today. Let me make sure everything on here I can share. Yeah, I can do that. Today's 1228. There's my execution list right on here. My goal. I wrote down. I wrote down the reason for it. Okay. I wrote down not just the goal. I'm going to repeat the reason, my why. This is the fuel that keeps me going. And then I track everything that I needed to be doing for the day, for the Pitch Pro Movement, for the content, which includes filming this year video, all the sales calls I needed to make the follow ups. Okay. And then some random things for me to keep track of in my personal life. This I wrote this morning. I usually do it the night before, but I was home with the flu or something yesterday. I didn't feel so good, so I had to do it this morning. So I do my execution list now. Here's where things get fun. I did this in a different order today, but I write down that daily plan. I write down my daily goal and my why. Then I write down my plan for the day. I've done other videos, by the way. We'll put a link to it. I did a video on planning your day and my process for that, it has evolved and I continually experiment. But the video I put up is the best one for you to watch. Daily goal, my why, and my plan next. What I do is in. This right here is probably the most important takeaway for you to lead with. Daeshaun Bryant shares this with me. Daeshaun Bryant is a fellow mentor inside the Pitch Pro Movement. He ran his first training Inside the Movement this week and we share some similar philosophy. And Daeshaun, shout out to you, my friend. He used the same word. The word is this. I'm going to leave you lingering on this word. This right here is the most powerful word that will change your life. The word is the word how. So what I do in my journal every single day, and this is how you will set yourself up for your best year ever. By becoming a new version of yourself. By continually leveling up, is learning to think and act like a pro. So I take this word, how, and I put it right in front of my daily goal. And I say, how can I? And then I repeat my daily goal. How can I, for example, sell three roofs today so I can pay off my debt, save enough money for a deposit for my first home, finally go out to dinner without having to think about the bill? How can I do that? I write all of it out, by the way, I'M going to read you this. This was this morning. How can I live the most fulfilling and meaningful life was one of the journal exercises. Here's another one. This is a new journal. I go through one of these about every every 30 days. Alright, here's another one. How can I affect most effectively train Alia, who's our new member of the team, so she can create amazing experiences for our customers. Boom. What happens when I write this goal down? The how? I swear you tap into a supreme intelligence. You end up answering. And this is the next exercise. You answer in a way by giving yourself advice, by tapping into this new mind you didn't even know you have. So let's go back to the example I just shared about you. How can I sell three deals today so I can pay off my debt, right? The big reason? Save enough money for the down payment, go out to dinner without thinking about the bill. Then I start writing it down. The answer is how well I want to think smart. Oh, I can ask for referrals from every customer. I can call every single open lead. I can show up to all my installs and canvas the neighborhood. I can tap into all the open leads in my company's CRM. I start getting creative while I'm sitting on my build. I'm going to follow up on all the supplements that I've sent in waiting for, you know, approvals from the insurance company. All of a sudden we start to think smarter. We start to think in ways that we didn't before because play with me for a minute. Play along, not play with me. That was weird. Play along with me. That makes more sense. By the way, I love when people write me an email like, dude, you had me laughing out loud when I was in public. So anyway, play along with me here. If I didn't write this how piece, if this didn't exist and I just chased that daily goal, do you think I would have enough clarity to hit it? Or do you think that I would have more clarity if I spelled out how was the best practice to do it? This right here, the how so to set up your best year yet. It is up to you to play the infinite game, to continually level up for you to become a new version of you and for you to be smarter in how you work. And the best practice that helped me do that in my journey from nearly day one, it was my first few weeks of roofing sales was learning to pick this up and I'm going to do a recap so you see it. We're going to get a journal. You're going to get write down your goal and then you're going to write down the reason that that goal is important to you. Without this reason, without this why. It'll sizzle out. Then what we're going to do is create the plan. Every day, we are going to plan daily in our journal what we need to do. Ideally the night before. I did a video on that before. And then we're going to rewrite goal with the word how, how can I? And then we're going to answer that question. I promise you, if you start every single day of your life like this, it will be the best year of your life ever. That's all I have for you. I want to wish you an early Happy New Year. Adopt this practice. And I promise you it's a bold word and I just said it. I promise you, if you follow this practice, you will have your best year ever. And I cannot wait to hear about it. We'll see you soon.
