Adam Hayley walks through a three-message Instagram DM sequence for fitness coaches to convert new followers into booked sales calls. The strategy involves quick outreach to recent followers, with the goal of doubling your call bookings.
According to the research, Instagram is the number one platform for making money online. But most fitness coaches lose out on sales because they try to play it cool and not look too desperate to their followers. And by the way, I was guilty of this too. But when I finally got my head around it and implemented our Speed to Lead system that I run through, we literally doubled the amount of sales calls that we got booked from Instagram every single week. I'm Adam Haley and I have helped over 1,000 personal trainers leave the gym floor, move fully online, and hit consistent 5k months. So. So here's what typically happens is you get a notification saying, Sarah Smith started following you two minutes ago. You're about to tap onto her profile and send her a message, but then that inner voice kicks in. I'll just wait a bit. It'd be creepy if I go and message straight away. Maybe I'll message her later so that I don't seem desperate. Newsflash, we are not dating. We don't need to treat him mean, keep him keen. In fact, the opposite is true. When somebody decides to hit that blue follow button, they are opting in to be part of your world. They could easily choose to just scroll and have a look from 30,000 foot without ever following you. Instead, they have chosen to follow you. And that is a big sign of intent. The light bulb moment for me was when I realized that their intent is at its highest. As soon as they've hit that follow button every minute and every hour that goes by after that, their intent is slowly dropping. And I first realized this with my paid ads. We would have somebody opt in and give us their details in order to get access to a free training that we'd put out. I would then have one of my team give them a quick call and just reach out and say, hey, hey, have you managed to access the training? Okay, what are your goals? Is there any way that we can support you? And what I realized was that when we managed to call people within 10 minutes of them opting in, the response rate to them answering the call and them being engaged in the conversation was infinitely higher. And what I realized was that our best prospects were the ones that got dialed and called within 10 minutes of them opting in. These were the people that were twice as likely to answer the phone and actually engage in conversation. The prospects that we would call one to two hours after opting in, opting in, the response rate from them literally halved. And if we try calling them the next day, forget. So with this in mind, I Thought I would run a bit of an experiment on Instagram. I thought, well, if it's working over here with the dials and the paid ads, let's try it organically on Instagram. Let's try and welcome every new follower within the first 10 minutes of them hitting the follow button. And the outcome was this one change doubled our average sales calls. So each week we were typically booking around seven to eight sales calls exclusively from Instagram. Within about two to three weeks of testing this, we had doubled that to around 50, 15 calls per week as an average. Can you imagine where your coaching business would be if you managed to double the amount of sales calls on your calendar through one small mindset shift and simple tweak? As simple as just messaging people a little bit faster. So the question that you now probably have is what do I say to these new followers? How do I welcome them? You're going to use a really simple three message sequence. Message one is their name, for example Sarah. Message two is your name. Appreciate the follow. So for example, for me it might be Sarah. That's message one. Message two would be Adam here. Appreciate the follow. And the third message is us basically giving them two options to reply to. I call this a spear message, short, personal, expecting a response. So the one that I like to use is here for the content or and then you would insert like the outcome or the goal that you know they likely want to achieve. So for me this might be here for the content or wanting to land clients and grow your coaching business. So just to recap on that, how the messages would look in my case might be Tom, Adam here. Appreciate the follow here for the content or wanting to land clients and grow your coaching business. And once they reply, you are into the conversation with them. This is something that you can and should try today. And go and notice how your replies and the conversations that you get into literally doubles over the next 24 to 48 hours.
