The video is a testimonial-style brand story featuring two speakers: a client (Speaker A) and a recruiter/consultant from HRnetOne (Speaker B). It traces a long‑term professional relationship that began when the client first heard HRnetOne’s junior consultant Adrian speak at a university career talk. Over the years, HRnetOne helped the client make a risky move from a stable job to a startup, supported the client’s expansion into mainland China by building foundational HR teams, and later enabled rapid digital hiring during the COVID‑19 pandemic. Parallel to this, the story follows a candidate named Anna, whose career progressed from a hire to a hiring manager, then to a country leader and regional head, all with HRnetOne’s guidance. The narrative emphasizes themes of trust, proactive support, and HRnetOne’s role as a career advisor and strategic partner that “has my back” through various business cycles.
Chapters
I first met Adrian during my last year in college at a career talk held on campus. Adrian was a junior consultant then, I think. He came with his team leader. I don't quite remember the speech given at that career talk, but I did remember Adrian's professional attitude, and the name HRnetOne stuck with me.
I was a first-year consultant at HRnetOne and had been instructed to reach out to the students and address their concerns. Anna was one of the 50 or so people I spoke with that day.
In my first few years at work, the name HRnetOne came up from now and again, and quite a few of my seniors got themselves into really nice jobs through them. My time came when Adrian called me in 2004, almost 8 years to the day when we first met at the career talk. By this time, I had gotten married, had my first kid, and had just been promoted. But my company was a traditional player in a tired industry, and I felt like I was at a crossroad.
When I touched base with Anna in 2004, it was a startup internet company looking to build an HR team. We assessed Anna was the right fit as she was hungry, very tuned into the market, and had the personality to groom a young team. When we talked our client through the talent landscape, they knew they wanted her too.
Actually, it was a bit risky for me at that time with a young family, to leave a stable role and join a startup. Adrian's deep knowledge about the industry, the company, and the core team was what swung the deal. And I felt that he was looking out for me, and I genuinely felt that this could be a good move.
This was my relationship with Anna progressed to the next level. From then on, I witnessed every step of her growth journey. From a prospective candidate to a successful hire, then a hiring manager, and some years later as a country leader before taking on a regional head role.
Adrian always anticipates my needs, and most of the time he's even one step ahead of me. It was especially so in 2011 when I planned to expand my team to mainland China, and I didn't know about the talent landscape there so intimately yet. So I asked Adrian for help. And together with his colleagues in HRNetOne Beishan Branch, they literally put in place the cornerstones for our offices across China. The hypo team they constructed is still very much in place today, though the business size is hundreds of times over.
We helped Anna construct her team in China in the same year HRNetOne opened its 5th office in Greater China. It's a form of recognition for me to see Anna's progression in her career from leading a 4-person team to leading hundreds from covering a single territory to the multiple regions under her care today.
Then COVID-19 hit. This presented us with a perfect opportunity to greatly digitalize our business, and we needed a strong Chief Digital Officer to supercharge the change. Once again, it was HRNETONE to the rescue.
This was February 2020, and even though our offices were closed, everyone was working from home. We surfaced our first profiles within 24 hours. Anna worked strongly alongside with us, entering late into the night and on the weekends, and we delivered on Anna's plan before her competitors even knew what hit them.
It's always reassuring to have someone whom you trust at your side all through your work and life. As a professional headhunter, a career advisor, and an old friend, from having met Adrian and getting to know about HRNetOne during my university days to now establishing a strong relationship between our two organizations, I'm glad HRNetOne always has my back and is always willing to weather the storms with me every step of the way.
The biggest sense of fulfillment any consultant can experience happens when your candidate sees you as an old friend. They invite you to their weddings, their baby showers, the most important moments in their lives. It's gratifying to know that your work has impacted their families positively. They trust you as a friend and as advisor to their careers and businesses. This trust is invaluable, and I am grateful to be part of it all, to witness their growth every step of the way.
