In this instructional video, Akeel Jabbar – Investment Director at Horizon Capital – explains why SaaS founders should look beyond direct sales and instead grow their businesses through strategic partnerships. He outlines three high‑impact partnership channels: (1) White‑label programs, where a partner sells the founder’s product under its own brand in exchange for licensing fees or per‑seat revenue; (2) Integration partnerships, which involve connecting the SaaS product to large platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce, or Shopify via APIs, unlocking co‑marketing, audience expansion, and enhanced product value; and (3) Affiliate marketing, a low‑friction model using tools like Ambassador or TapAffiliate to reward external promoters with recurring commissions. For each channel, Jabbar describes the mechanics, key benefits, and practical considerations (product fit, team capacity, investment). He emphasizes that partnerships can dramatically lower customer acquisition cost, accelerate scaling, and provide a cost‑effective marketing engine. The video concludes with a call to action for founders to implement at least one partnership model, invites viewers to share their own experiences, and encourages engagement through likes, comments, and subscriptions.

There's so many ways to think about growing your SaaS company, right? You're just thinking, okay, I'm selling, I'm generating leads, I'm building my pipeline, I'm talking to so many people, but only a few of them are converting. There is a better way of how you can tackle this, and that is through building partnerships. Okay? And that's exactly what I want to talk about today because I remember when I was the CEO of $99 Social, which is a social media platform company, and we would get, you know, hundreds of new clients signing up every single month. But you know, every time we bring on one new person, one new client, one new person, it was a lot of work and a lot of energy. And you know, if we look from a cost per acquisition perspective, it was expensive, right? What worked a lot better for us was actually when we had partnership with other agencies or resellers, and one agency would bring in 50 clients, right? So now when we're working with the one person, they're opening up their whole network to us and they're bringing on all 50 clients. In one shot is a lot more effective and a lot more powerful for you as a SaaS founder to be able to scale and grow your business. Hey guys, welcome back to another video here at the SaaS District YouTube channel. So my name is Akeel Jabbar. I'm the investment director at Horizon Capital where we work with SaaS companies. That's all we do. We help them take their business to the next level. And one way we do that is through partnerships, right? That's a huge channel that a lot of people overlook. They think they need to sell directly, right? Who is your end client? Who's your ICP? Who is the person you want to sell to? Let's sell to them. The way that I love and that I want to talk about on this video is working through partnerships. And there's different ways you can do that. There's so many different channels that you can use. I want to talk about 3 of them that I love. Now keep in mind, these are all going to depend on your product, your size, the team availability you have, you know, your investment capacity, and obviously the type of platform you're offering. But the one partnership channel that I absolutely love is called the white label program. And the way white label partnerships work is let's say you built this product, right? You've had this software, it's built under your brand. Your name, and you're selling directly to consumers. Now what happens is there's a lot of companies who would actually love to sell your product, and— but they want to use their own brand. So what you can do is, look, they'll focus on the sales, they'll focus on the marketing, they'll sell it under their own brand. Maybe they already have a big brand, but they don't want to go out and build this whole solution and the software and the development and the technology, all that behind it. So they're going to pay you a licensing fee or a monthly subscription or whatever it is and they're going to be able to sell your product on their behalf of you as their client, right? So you don't, you don't, you don't talk directly with the clients. You're talking directly with the white label partner. You're selling them a license to your product and they're going to go out and sell it under their own brand and on their own name to their own clients every single day. And you can also charge for every single seat, every single new signup. There's so many ways you can do that. You can check out my video that I talk about pricing models and you can do that and help them leverage, but they're going to, you're going to leverage them. They already have a sales team, marketing team. Traffic, leads, clients, all of the above, and they're going to be able to sell it in no time. All right. So that's one way, which is called white label solution. The second partnership program that I really love is integrations, and especially in B2B SaaS, right? There's so many businesses out there. There's so many platforms out there that have integration platforms, right? There's HubSpot, there's Salesforce, there's Shopify. There's all these tools where you can plug into their network, right? These guys are literally, are worth billions of dollars, right? They have millions of traffic and users and clients already paying to use their platform. And what you're going to do is you're going to plug in your platform into them. You're going to integrate with your API into their platform and you're going to start offering your solution to them. So you're going to become a channel partner, integration partner. You're going to get a lot of traffic and visibility from their clients to be able to use your product. And that way it's going to get you more leads, more sales, and grow through that way. So the 3 main things you're going to get is you're going to enhance the service value. You know, your value is going to go up now that you're associated with HubSpot or Salesforce. Number 2, you're going to get a fresh new audience that you can now tap into. And number 3 is you have opportunities for co-marketing efforts. Really good integration partners have a marketing program where they're going to actually help promote you. They're going to build a package, they're going to build a— they're going to work with you. They have dedicated partnership managers and they want you to succeed. Right there. Their, their goal is for you to focus on your product and they're going to try to get it out there to the customers as much as possible. So look for those integration partners who have those dedicated managers who are going to help you succeed and actually do co-marketing activities together. So that's number 2. Number 3, my favorite, the simplest affiliate marketing, right? This is super simple. A lot of SaaS companies overlook this. They don't have an affiliate program. Super simple to set up. You can use a tool like Ambassador or Or there's a bunch of other affiliate tools like TapAffiliate as well, where you set up an affiliate program and you offer a percentage of every sale through their audience. So a simple way, right, you just— they get a simple link, they can add it on their website, on their resources page, they can send an email blast to their list, to their audience, and every user who signs up and clicks the link and signs up, they get a commission, right? That can be The best way you can do it is give recurring. People love building recurring incomes, right? That passive recurring income. And all they have to do is, you know, generate a link, set up an account, and start promoting you. Maybe they already have a blog, or maybe they already have a website that's getting thousands, if not millions of views. And by just inserting your link, promoting you, they can easily, you know, generate a 6-figure income. And you guys get, you know, most of the profits and get more— you get to leverage their audience as well. So the point of all this, all these partnerships, What you're doing here is leveraging, and that's the most powerful resource and channel you can do, and probably the cheapest when it comes to marketing. So if you guys aren't already doing one of these 3, I highly recommend you start implementing this today. Like if you don't have an affiliate program, set that up and you'll see how much value that brings to your business because people are happy to promote you and get a commission for that. So there you have it guys. Those are, you know, 3 different ways you can, you can build partnerships for your SaaS. You can scale a lot quicker, and I hope you guys start doing that to help you guys. Let me know if you like this video. Make sure to smash the bell button, like, comment below. Tell me a story about what partnerships have worked well for you.
