10 Easy Instagram Reels You Can Make in Minutes (That Actually Build Your Personal Brand)

In this tutorial, Alex Cattoni (Copy Posse) debunks the myth that Instagram reels require extensive planning, scripting, or performance. She presents a three‑step, no‑script workflow—capture a moment, add audio (voiceover or trending track), and overlay short text—to create authentic short‑form videos in under ten minutes. Alex shares practical production hacks such as building a B‑roll library in Dropbox, using voice memos for quick voiceovers, and leveraging trending audio for algorithmic boost. She then delivers ten concrete reel ideas (morning routine, order packing, work‑in‑progress, blank‑stare, phone scrolling, trending‑audio expression, screen‑recorded payment/testimonial, walking shot, notes‑app/Canva quote, GIF/meme remix) with examples of text overlays and usage tips. Throughout, she emphasizes relatability over perfection, encourages batch‑filming, and positions reels as a low‑effort way for small business owners, service providers, and introverts to build a personal brand and attract clients. The video concludes with calls to action: subscribe, tag @CopyPosse, and download a free Social Media Starter Pack (128 post ideas) to further simplify content creation, reinforcing the idea that a strong social media presence functions as a modern resume.

Every single like comment and subscriber tells YouTube to show this content to more people just like you, which really helps my channel grow. So of course I always appreciate your love and support. Now let's dive straight in. This week we are talking all about how to build your personal brand on social media using Instagram reels. Whether you are actively trying to grow an audience on Instagram or you just want to catch the eye of a few dream clients having an online presence presence is key and it really goes without saying that posting on social media is one of the best and fastest ways to build that online presence. Of course, that inevitably leads to the question, well Alex, what exactly do I post? And that is where most of us tend to get hung up. Now while I am super happy to report that static images and posts are starting to make a comeback on Instagram, which is really great news, short form video remains the number one content marketing format with most marketers saying it offers the highest ROI of any other social media format. So it goes without saying that if you want to grow your audience, attract more potential clients or customers to your business, and grow your online authority as quickly as possible, then yes, posting some form of short form video content is the way to go. Listen, I know, I know that is hard to hear if you're an introvert, but I'm not telling you to go master some cringe tik tok choreography. I was never about doing those dancing videos either. Instead, I tried some other types of reels. You know, the ones where you lip sync with trending audio. But if I'm being honest, I really didn't like doing those ones either because some of those audio tracks are really freaking hard and they Take time to learn and actually get right. It was just a whole thing. And I got over it really fast because like you, I have a million other things to do and it would take me like an hour to create one six second reel. So then I tried the Hermosi style talking head videos. You know, the ones with captions and popping noises and gifs. And honestly I grew tired of that even faster. Now I still do this kind of highly produced short form educational content from time to time, but I no longer try to bang out like 30 in a month. It was just way too exhausting. So instead I create way fewer of those types of videos, but I make them more interesting and, you know, visually appealing. Now if you like making dancing reels or lip syncing to trending audio, or producing 30 plus talking head style videos every single month, go you, you should definitely do that. But if that's not really in your time, budget or energy, I got you. My team and I came up with a bunch of super easy reels and short form videos that you can use starting today. And guess what we discovered when we started creating these types of videos. Creating short form video content is actually way, way easier than most of us have been making it. Because you do not need a script. You do not need to dance or point. You do not need to spend hours setting up your camera, getting the perfect angle, lighting, editing, post production, all of that kind of stuff. You don't even need to talk or show your face if you do not want to. In fact, some of our highest performing reels were created start to finish in under 10 minutes and had zero script or pre planning. And they connected with my aud way better than the ones that I spent hours and hours and hours planning. Go figure, right? All you gotta do is step number one, capture a moment. Seriously, any moment, pull out your phone and record something happening in your life. This is not a performance. This is just a snapshot of your life. It could be making your morning cup of coffee or working at your computer, or hey, riding in the car. I am such a passenger princess. I do a lot of content in the car. Or sitting at dinner and having your favorite drink. Do you remember the cranberry skateboarding guy? He was literally just driving to work one day when his truck broke down and he didn't want to just wait in his truck for someone to come grab him. So he got his skateboard and his cranberry juice and he started riding to work. He thought something like, oh, this is really funny. I'm just going to record A video of me skateboarding and drinking this ocean spray. So he posted it to TikTok and what happened? He turned into a viral sensation. Of course he wasn't trying to go viral, he was just sharing a super candid moment from his life. And truly that is really all you need to do. But honestly, even that I know can feel hard sometimes. Like documenting your life. Like, what the heck am I supposed to film a video of me doing? Well, I have 10 ideas for you at the end of this video, so keep watching. But I will share a hot tip that I literally live by and it helps me create tons of reels. Literally anytime I want to take a photo of something, whether I'm on vacation or out for dinner with my husband, or at the gym or at the farmer's market, instead of just snapping a photo, I take a few seconds of video. Then I add that to a massive folder in my Dropbox titled B Roll. And these random videos can be repurposed over and over and over again to create endless short form videos. Which is perfect because then if one day you really don't feel like filming a video, which hello is me a lot of the time, you can just quickly go through that B roll, pick one of those videos, and then you are ready for step number two, which is to add audio. So of course your reel needs to have an audio. And for this you really have just two simple options. You can either record a quick voiceover or add audio directly from Instagram. Now of course, adding a voiceover will take a little bit more time, but it is really quick and it is not something you need to script or make fancy. I simply record in my voice memo app in my phone. Seriously, that's it. Now we also really love to use trending audio. It's a great way to get that algorithm push to get your content out to more people so you know that an audio is trending when just like a little arrow at the bottom, just like this example. So if you ever stumble across an audio you love while you're scrolling, just quickly save it and then you can easily find it and use it in one of your own reels when you're ready. And now the last thing you need to do is step number three, add text. So last but not least, you need to add your text to the reel and we like to keep it short and sweet, so really easy for the scrollers to stop and read. And that's it. All that's left to do is write a caption and then post that bad boy upload it without overthinking. Because perfection does not connect. Being relatable does. This is about connecting, not performing. Now, if you're still thinking, okay, Alex, but you've been doing this for, like, ever. It's easy for you. What am I supposed to post? Well, you better believe I got some ideas for you. Here are 10 no script real ideas that are so easy, you can literally create them. So starting today, number one, I'm calling it morning routine Vibes. So record yourself pouring coffee, maybe lighting a candle, maybe doing a few seconds of yoga, or just sitting on your couch by the fire. Depending on the goal of your reel, you could add quick text that says something like, this is your sign to romanticize your workday. Or maybe use it as an opportunity to educate your audience on something related to your offer. Overlay a trending audio and boom, you got a reel. Number two, packing an order or client deliverable. So if you have a business where you fulfill orders, this is an easy and practical reel to make that will give your viewers a little behind the scenes action. So film yourself wrapping up a product or unboxing a product or a whole bunch of products and then you can speed it up. In this case, I filmed an unboxing video for my once a year live marketing event and I just showed them everything that I was unboxing leading up to my event. If you have an online business, you can film yourself working on the computer or clicking send on a project you've been working on, or even writing in a notebook. Your text overlay might say something like proof you can get paid to do what you love. Or this gets me so fired up. Or maybe I still can't believe this is my job. You can also add a voiceover of you giving a quick rundown of everything you're doing behind the scenes and boom, you're done. Number three, working. Take a quick video of you working away on your laptop. Maybe you're at your desk, maybe you're in a coffee shop, maybe you're sitting on an airplane. That is my personal favorite. And add audio. And there you go. Number four, blank stare or thinking pose. This is a classic and it's honestly so, so versatile. It might feel a little awkward at first, but just take a video of you, you know, looking around or zoning out or staring off into the distance. Add text overlay with a point of view or a PSA statement related to your niche or business. Add some audio and you' to go number five, scrolling your phone. I mean, this is literally something that all of us do a lot. So it is a very versatile video that you can film once and then reuse a ton of times. It could be just you sitting on the couch or in the back of an Uber, just scrolling on your phone. Or if you're feeling kind of funny, here's another idea. Number six, using a trending audio and expression. So this is when you piggyback off of a funny trending audio, something like this, Don't be ridiculous. And then add text overlay that aligns with your business or offer maybe a little listicle or something. Now, admittedly, this one is a little bit more performative than others, and that still probably took me longer than I wanted, but it is still really clean and really simple and really impactful. So I wanted to make sure to include it. Now, that particular reel I created years ago, but honestly, it's performed so well for us. We have posted it and posted it again and again, and we've even used it for ads. All right, next up, number seven, a screen recording of a payment or any sort of testimonial. So you don't even need to be in this one. You could just screen record maybe a stripe notification coming in or a testimonial or an invoice that's been paid. Making sure, of course, to blur out any sensitive information like client names, addresses, you know, account numbers, etc. And here you can just add text overlay that might say something like, building a business I'm proud of. Or because getting paid for your passion is the goal or point of view you monetized your weird skill. Anything like that. All right, number eight, a walking shot. Again, super versatile. You can use this over and over and over again. Just film yourself walking on the street, in your home, in the forest, on a hike, next to the beach, whatever, right? And then add some audio and text overlay that makes sense with your offer. Niche or business. Or maybe something a little bit more inspirational like A quote number 9 notes app or canva Quote. So you can actually create a reel from a static image as well. You can just screenshot a note that you've typed up on your phone, or if you want to make it look fancy, you could of course use Canva. Then just upload that image instead of a video and make sure to set it for like, you know, 10 to 15 seconds, add audio and boom, you're done. And lastly, number 10, use trending GIFs or memes. I am saving the best one for last. This is my absolute favorite type of reel to create because I don't have to be in it at all, nor does my voice. It is just so simple and so relatable. All you do is find a trending gif or meme and then remix it using your own relevant hook or angle. You can add some trending audio and boom, you're done. It feels funny, it feels relevant, it feels timely. They are so shareable and everyone loves a good gif. Remember, your goal with creating content isn't always to educate. Sometimes it really is just to, you know, make people feel something. Whether that's inspiration or that moment of relatability, or even just a good chuckle. These reels work because they are real. They are felt. They're not performative. You are filming real life moments that your audience gets to see themselves in, so they kind of feel a little behind the scenes as well. No fancy transitions, no pressure to talk to the camera, just moments layered with emotion and meaning. And you can even batch film all of these in one sitting. If you're feeling a little motivated one day, then it'll be even easier for you to create reels every single day when you don't feel like being active on your phone or filming little B roll clips. Now if this helped create your first reel today. And then make sure to tag me at Copy Posse on Instagram when you post it so that I can see it.
