A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of hanging out with Jay Abraham. He is a marketing genius, one of the pioneers of direct response marketing. He started selling via direct mail in, like, the 70s. He has sold hundreds of millions of dollars in products and services and has managed to stay timeless despite the marketing world changing time and time again. And he talked about this one concept that was. Was so powerful. He said, the secret to success in marketing is to be hopelessly curious and to look to other industries to see how they solve problems and then apply that to your problem. Because in my opinion, creativity, which, let's be honest, is marketing creativity, is finding new ways to solve problems. And this idea of hopeless curiosity is something that I think about a lot when I'm attending masterminds or going to events. It's this idea of lateral learning.
