Alex Cattoni left her Creative Director role at Mindvalley to freelance as a copywriter, then built Copy Posse into a multiple seven-figure business. She learned that you don't need to know your business model upfront; taking action and staying flexible lets it evolve into what it actually needs to be.
When you left mindvalley and started your own thing is what you started. Does it look very similar to what you're doing now?
So when I left mindvalley, I was never a traditional copywriter. At Mindvalley I was the creative director. So I was more sort of high level in the marketing when I left, exactly as you're saying, I started working with clients and then the number one thing that people kept asking for was, you know, a copywriter. And then I just started doing it and it worked out. And then I had an 8 year career freelance copywriting and then started the copy posse. Now I'm coming back full circle and teaching more marketing.
Love your story and here's why. And I want people to really hear this. Where you started morphed into something different. If you didn't start with what you started with, you would have never known that. People are like, hey, do you know a copywriter? Can you help me with that? You have to get into action. Action creates clarity. So don't think that whatever you're going to start with your business is the end all be all written in stone. You can never change it. It will morph if you pay attention.
