Simple Marketing Funnel That Makes $$$

Alex Cattoni breaks down the six-step funnel that generated millions for her business: traffic, landing page, lead magnet, welcome emails, sales emails, and offer. She shows how one customer, Alicia, took eight months and multiple touchpoints before buying a $3,000 program, proving that simple systems and consistent messaging beat complex automation.

For the first couple of years of my business, I used an incredibly simple marketing funnel and made millions of dollars. And then what did I do? I went and made it all fancy, only to go back to the super simple six step funnel that I used before with a few small tweaks to make it work even better. Today in this video, I'm going to share my entire six step funnel with you and the biggest thing that I've changed recently and you better believe I got receipts. So keep watching. Hey posse, what's up? It's Alex coming at you this week with a video to help you attract and convert more customers in your online business. Now, like I said before, I started my business with a stupid simple funnel and it worked great. Like great. Then a few years ago, I tried to get all fancy by creating more offers and doing intricate segmenting and creating more complex automations. And honestly, it turned out to just be a lot of work for not much reward. I mean, hey, you have heard me say it like a million times. Marketing is one giant experiment. But why does it gotta suck so bad when it doesn't work? So anyway, I decided to go back to my business and simplify literally everything, including my funnel. I took a good hard look at my metrics, adjusted my simple funnel and ever so slightly and eliminated all of that fancy funnel stuff that honestly was just creating more work for me and my team. And that leads me to the single biggest misconception in marketing today, that if you want to be profitable, you got to use all the bells and whistles and hacks and shortcuts and fancy tools that people are slinging all around the Internet. But honestly, that is not true. Of course having a funnel is important. You need to be able to guide new leads through the buying process after they find you. But more comple complex does not equal more money, okay? In fact, almost all of the time, the simpler the better. As they say, smart people take simple things and make them more complex, and the smartest people take complex things and make them more simple. And I was guilty of just being smart. My word for 2025 is simplicity. And there are so many areas of my business where I am majorly skilled scaling back on the complexity and reverting back to the basics that I know work. Because at the end of the day, it is your messaging and how you connect with your audience and customers that makes the biggest impact, not how fancy or complex your funnel is. So I'm going to show you exactly what I mean by that at the end of this video. And I Have screenshots that tell a very interesting story, so make sure you stick around. And before we dive in, be sure to subscribe below if you want to see more videos like this. And don't forget to hit that bell to be notified when my next video goes live. All right, now, step one of my simple marketing funnel is of course, traffic. The number one goal at the very top of every marketing funnel is of course, getting attention, AKA eyeballs on your stuff. We call this impressions or views in the marketing world. And then of course, we want to convert those eyeballs or views into clicks, and that is what we call traffic. And there are three different types of traffic. Number one, there is free traffic. So these are any landing page visits that you get from using free promotional channels like social media or blog content, for an example. Then you have borrow traffic. These are any landing page visits that you get from other people promoting you via collaborations, podcasts, or some other forms of marketing partnerships. And then of course, you have paid traffic. And these are any landing page visits that you get from paying for views on advertising platforms like Facebook or Instagram. And in this diagram, you can see that I'm referencing ads as the traffic source, which is. But you do not have to run paid ads in order to use or have a successful funnel. The reality is that that is not realistic for a lot of brands and businesses that are just starting out. Many do not have a budget to run paid ads right away. So if that's you, do not worry. This funnel can still work extremely well for you. In fact, for the first year in my business, I didn't spend a single red penny on paid ads because I had like zero marketing budget. I built my business 100% free via my social media Chann channels like YouTube and Instagram. any time it made sense I would just promote a free lead magnet and get people to join my email list. Which leads me to the second step of this super simple funnel. Your landing page. So once you've got traffic, you need to direct it somewhere. Your landing page is literally the page traffic lands on. That's it. And your goal here is simple. Convert those clicks into email subscribers, subscribers. No, you do not want to sell them anything yet. Right now you simply want to get them on your email list. That is so important. You're just getting them to take one more step with you and go a little bit deeper into your funnel so you can continue communicating with them and building a relationship with them and moving them through your funnel. Remember, it is rare for someone to buy from you if they just discovered who you are, like, incredibly rare. So instead of asking them to buy from you right away, you want to get them to make what's called a micro commitment. And the best way to do that that is to invite them to join your email list. But listen, we all know join my list isn't the most compelling invitation. No one really wants more emails. You want to offer them something valuable in exchange for that email address, which in this case is downloading my free email marketing Calendar. This has 279 ideas for emails you can send to your list. Now, this page does not have to be long and the copy can be simple. You just want to give them a few good reasons to sign up and why they should get this free, free thing. And by the way, I will put a link to that email marketing calendar in the description box below so you can grab your free copy after this video. And that brings me to the third step of this very simple funnel, your lead magnet. So your goal with your lead magnet is to give something away that is highly valuable. This is what people are signing up to receive. Now, again, in this example, the lead magnet, the thing people are going to this landing page for is a PDF guide. But lead magnets come in many shapes and sizes. There are so many different kinds. You could promote master classes, webinars, training videos, mini courses, templates, frameworks, checklists, cheat sheets, quizzes, discovery calls, critiques, audits, case studies, industry reports, free challenges, boot camps or workshops, a customized quote, exclusive discounts, and the list goes on and on. You just want to make sure this is something that will move them closer to their desired goal. It needs to solve a problem and offer next steps that invite them to go, yes, even further, further into your funnel. And by the way, I have an entire video breaking down my lead magnet formula and I will link to that below. Now, in order to access your lead magnet, they need to put in, of course, their email address right there on the landing page, which will then deliver the lead magnet to their inbox. And voila, you now have a new subscriber on your email list. And that brings us to the next part of your funnel, your welcome emails. So once you've got the lead on your email list, you can begin the process of actually nurturing them through a series of emails, often referred to as a nurturing campaign or a welcome sequence. And the purpose of these emails are to build trust by providing valuable and relevant content. So instead of selling right away, your primary goal with these is simply to educate your prospects on how you can actually help them either solve the problem they are looking to solve or achieve the benefit they are looking to achieve. This is a great time to share who you are, what you stand for and most importantly that you understand them and their unique, unique challenges or obstacles. You want to let them know they are in the right place. And you better believe I have a full video dedicated to breaking down my three step welcome sequence and you can find a link to that below. All right, so after you welcome your new leads, you can then move them into the next part of your sales funnel which is your sales emails. So up until now you haven't directly made them an offer, but you've been seeding the sale in your welcome emails by offering them a ton of free value, education and tips to help them solve their biggest problem or challenge. Now, now it is time to let them know that you have something to offer them that will make solving their problem easier, faster or better than if they were to do it all on their own. Now I recommend sending a minimum of 5 sales emails. I call this my 5 day pop up promotion and I teach this campaign framework along with two others inside my 365 day inbox income mini course. And all of these emails will have a call to action or a link that of course would bring your leads back to the final part of your sales funnel which is step step number six, the offer. So this is where you actually make an offer for your product or service, probably on a sales page. Now over my decade of experience in marketing I have found that this 10 step formula is a winner time and time again. My hot offer checklist includes 10 conversion triggers that I always look for when reviewing copy to build trust, boost authority and ignite sales. And yes, you can grab a free copy of that below as well. So this is what the funnel looks like. You've got traffic to a landing page, to the lead magnet, welcome emails, sales emails and finally the offer. But you guys, a funnel is rarely ever as simple as a person seeing a Facebook ad signing up and then buying immediately. In fact that probably almost never happens. It does happen sometimes, but it is like really really rare. Especially today. Mistrust in advertising is at an all time high and it can take up to 50 touch before a cold lead converts into a customer 50. So this makes sense when you really think about the state of the Internet today. It's not really surprising. I mean honestly think about it. We need so much more than just a great offer and some, you know, great well written copy in order to buy. If we have no idea who the person is or what the company is behind the product. Customers today really take their time getting to know a brand. So who are you really? Why are you doing what you do? What are you selling? Why do you want to help me? And how? Why should I trust or believe a single word you say? I mean, these are all questions running through our heads all the time. The default mode of buyers today is total skepticism. Most people do not buy from you the first time they meet you, or the second, or the fifth, like, or even the 13th. Which is exactly why your funnel is extremely important. But what's even more important is what you're doing outside of your funnel to support that sales conversation. And let me show you exactly what I mean. So this is a real journey of one of our customers from her first visit to her first purchase. Let's call her Alicia. That is not her real name, but Alicia officially entered the Posse verse and joined our email list after watching a YouTube video just like this back in April of last year. Then she engaged with dozens of our content pieces and visited multiple landing pages over the next few weeks and months. Now, there would be gaps where she didn't interact with any of our content for weeks, but then she would return, click around, explore, and then leave again. And then eventually, she made a very important decision. Earlier this year, in January, Alicia made her very first purchase. She joined the Copy Posse Launchpad, which, by the way, is a $3,000 product. It took eight whole months before we made things official. And during that time, she was in and out of the multiple of my funnels. But here is the most important thing to remember. Even when she wasn't in a funnel, she was getting a lot of value out of her experience with my brand through ads, social media, and my email list. And because our messaging stayed consistent, recognizable, and aligned across every single one of these touch points, she didn't just stick around, but she eventually became one of my best customers and a Copy Posse Launchpad student. This is why your branding and your messaging and how you connect with your audience between that first touch point and that first sale matters so much. It is what you do outside of the funnel that is so, so important. And this is the lesson that so many business owners have to learn the hard way, unfortunately. So ask yourself, how are you nurturing and connecting with your new leads? How are you building a sense of trust and rapport with them? How are you showing them that they can trust you, that you're reliable? I personally send out three content emails every single week and These emails do not sell or promote anything. The purpose is simply to show up consistently in their inbox, provide value and build trust. So please keep that in mind as you are mapping out your funnel. It works, but it doesn't work in isolation. Do not underestimate the power of showing up consistently for your audience and adding value so that when they are ready to buy, they know how to find you. Now I know it's easier said than done consistently constantly showing up in the inbox and I created 365 day inbox income to help you with that exact problem. I help you map out an entire year of emails, both content emails and promotional emails so you can be really intentional about everything you're doing both inside and outside of this funnel. And I'm telling you, out of all the changes I have made in my business and marketing over the past couple of years, showing up consistently with content and value has made made the biggest impact. And if you're interested in learning more about that mini course, you can grab it at the link below. It's only 27 and I will see you next week with a brand new video. Until then, I'm Alex.
