Get ready because everything is about to change. There's a new way of living life and doing business that will blow your mind. This is a podcast all about the timing of life and the timing of success. It's what we call the Right on Time life. And you are listening to the Right on Time podcast with Amber McHugh. Hey. Hey. I am so excited to get started. I wanted to pop on here early to say hello. Welcome. I see people joining us in the chat. Laura from England, Tanya from Kentucky. So good to see you. Really excited to be here with everyone today when we are going to dive into the number one step to take to 3x your growth. We're gonna give it just two more minutes and then we're gonna dive in and get this party started as we are pre partying here. Yes, I would love to hear where you are from today, where you are sitting today and where you're coming at us from. I'm coming at us from Chicago and after many, many, many, many months of cold, cold, it is finally getting warm here. So it is gorgeous outside today. Yesterday was so, so it was a little dreary, but I did take a little bit of a walk, just get outside, get some fresh air and then walked outside this morning. I do not have the windows open now because I did not want to interrupt any of our setup. But as soon as our live workshop is over, I am opening up the windows and I'm going to enjoy that sunshine. Oh, my gosh. Welcome from Egypt, currently located in Thailand. I love it. Oh, boy, do I love our global community. Oh my goodness. It's getting late there. Wait, Thailand? Oh, it's very late there right now, isn't it? Aren't we about 12 hours apart? Warm, sunny Jamaica. Tanya. I love it. I'm so jealous. I saw you pop up in the group and I thought, oh, it's so cold here. I bet she more. Oh, my goodness. So happy to see everyone. We have an incredible week lined up for you. Before we dive in, I'll go through some of the logistics to make sure you do not miss a beat and we are going to get productive. We're going to get some plans in place, but we're also going to look at where we need to focus. So I'm excited. It's midnight here. Oh my gosh. You're so amazing. Glad you are with us even though it is so late. Incredible. I was up bright and early. I'm not gonna lie. I'm not gonna lie. I got a little nerv sighted, nervous and Excited combined for this workshop because we're trying something new through this tech setup that we have here. I'm looking at a few different things around me. Mostly I'm looking at you, but if you see my eyes shifting, I'm just checking in on something, taking to peek at those comments. And so that got me a little bit nerve sided. I had to stand. I'm standing instead of sitting as we go through our workshop today so I can keep the energy flowing in all the right ways and not sit there and be in the nervous energy. So you're going to get some extra momentum from me today. And it is officially go time. We are diving into the first workshop in our plan profit scale series. This first workshop is called the number one step to take to 3x your growth. You are absolutely in the right place. We're going to have an incredible week and as I mentioned in our warm up there, we're going to go through the logistics for the week so you know what to expect. We have five core workshops planned for you this week to guide you through thinking about your plans for profitability if you even want profitability right now and scale if you even want scale right now. And we're going to dive in and look at okay, what would these things mean for me personally in my business? What do I want this to look like and what's my next move? So you have crystal clarity walking out of this week on what your next moves are. Because so often just not knowing what which option we should pick from, all the choices we have can sometimes slow us down as we are moving forward and making progress in our business. And I want you to have full on momentum this week. So our schedule of events here you could see that our workshops are happening at 1:00pm U.S. eastern. We just stay in that U.S. eastern time zone. I'm currently sitting in Chicago in a different time zone. Soon to be moving to Africa. But wherever I go, wherever I travel to, wherever we're located, I I just anchor in that so we can do time zone conversions on the Google. Google is much better at it than I am. Although I got pretty close to Thailand. That felt good. Rehab. So then we today have got our first step to take to 3x or more your growth. And I'm going to talk to you about why you may want to do this, why you may not write different strategies for different businesses and the journey that my business went through to make these decisions and the number one step that you need to take and you can make a decision on this today. So I'M really excited about that. We have a workbook prepared for you that we're going to share closer to the end of the workshop. So for now make notes wherever and then we'll share that workbook to help you dial in and make those decisions closer to the end of this workshop. Then we're going to look at the no mess scale up plan. That's tomorrow again 1pm Eastern and then we've got a few more workshops planned through Friday. We with some bonus times in here so don't miss these bonus sessions. Tonight we've got a live Q and A or tomorrow morning Rehan, you'll be able to take a nap and then come back to us. Hope you'll be able to get on live, ask questions during these sessions or just type your questions into the chat and I can answer live verbally but this is going to be real time for you to get your specific questions answered. Then tomorrow we have a VIP workshop. It is not too late to upgrade. Upgrade to the VIP workshop. We are going to be doing a private, very intimate, small group workshop on your one page business plan. And if you want to hop in on that you can go to amber mchugh.com forward/pps VIP. Then we're gonna have some bonus announcements and things coming up for you as we go. But there are a few links here I wanted to call out. Amber mchugh.compps live. That's where you are now. If you are here live with us, welcome to so good to see you. Then all the replays, the notes etc. Etc. Etc. The link to the group will be over@amber McHugh.com forward/pps links. That VIP link is here if you want to join us. And then you're going to see when we share the workbook closer to the end of the session. Today we are playing to win this week, in fact we're planning to to win because that's what we're doing in our business. So we're going to be playing a little bit of plan profit scale bingo and you'll be entered to win the grand prize which is all of these things on the screen and maybe some other surprises we have for you. But this phone specifically is a strategy session with me. So we'll get to the winner of our bingo. We will get to do a strategy session with me plus get all of these things. But everyone who plays bingo, and I'll tell you how that goes in just a second, is going to be entered to win and then we're going to do a drawing and give away each one of these things. So there are two chances to win the strategy call, because one will be in the grand prize for the person who's getting all of this. And then there will be one single strategy session given away as well. Now, in case you've never played bingo before, because I want to make sure everybody knows how to win, we are planning to win. So at the end of this workshop, when we give you the workbook, the companion workbook that's going to go with all of our workshops this week, you are going to see a bingo card. And what's going to happen on the bingo card is when you finish any of these activities, you're just going to mark off that you completed it. So you're going to be able to fill many of these today, including workshop number one, because you are here live. So you're going to be able to check workshop number one complete. In fact, at the end of this day, you'll be able to complete a lot of items. And then once you complete all of the items, you're going to submit for bingo over@amber McHugh.com forward/pps bingo. Oh, I just crossed it out. I didn't mean to cross that out. I meant to highlight it for you, but it'll be linked up for you. So you can submit your bingo entry once you've completed the full card. And we'll find out who our grand prize winner is, who's getting everything as well as we're going to do those drawings for the other windows. Look. All right, we are back. So let's dive in to today's workshop. We're gonna dive into today's workshop. Are you ready? Are you ready? Light it up in the comments if you are ready. Because I want to bring that energy, I want to bring the excited momentum, positive energy, and leave that nervous and energy behind. So let's dive in. So it's been an interesting couple of years, right? There's been a lot going on. In fact, just over two years from today, I was unexpectedly flown back from Ethiopia and unexpectedly relocated from Ethiopia here to Chicago, where we've been for two years and two months. And here's what I know now. After 10 years of growing a business, after growing a business, and let me know if you can relate to any of this. Of growing a business through ups and downs, through surprises and more surprises, through family stuff and life stuff, building a business is absolutely possible for you. Once you make the decision that you want to do it and it's been hard those last couple of years. There is potentially in your space increased competition. Have you experienced increased competition in your space? More people are starting businesses, more people are leaving corporate through the great resignation and the big quit that you may have heard of and starting businesses and seeing a different way to do life. And if that is you, if you're seeing a different way to do life, you are not alone. You are not alone. There are more options to you in terms of how you can start your business than I have ever seen before. From all of the brick and mortar options to all of the online options. That started a new wave of opportunity in running our own businesses. 10, 15, 17, 20 years ago, kind of right in that 15 to 20 year range. And now strategies. Technology has advanced so much that it can get a little bit overwhelming to think about all the choices that we have. Am I right? Give me a shout out in the comments if you ever feel overwhelmed as you go to start a new project in your business, as you're ramping up your business, if you're scaling your business. And this leads us to this reality that change just keeps on coming. It keeps on coming and it keeps on coming, whether it's an external change in the global climate, right. If it's more local to our region, if it's within our family and there are changes in our family dynamics, maybe it's a change in a strategy you want to make in your business as a response to a shift in algorithms, right? There are so many different things that you have to keep up with. Oh my goodness. And what do we do? Where do we start? What path do we go down and how do we know what's going to get us that momentum and traction? We are digging into that this week because it is time for a new chapter. It's time for a fresh look at how we operate our businesses and especially how we operate our businesses when change keeps coming. Because here is the reality. As a business owner, change is always going to keep coming for you. You're going to see new opportunities as your business scales and grows. And as a business owner and leader, you are going to have to be equipped to adapt to those changes and make decisions around the changes that are right for your business and the changes that you want to not take advantage of. Right? As a therapist, Trudy shared, it's been a journey to keep up with all of the tech and platforms. It's always overwhelming. Absolute freaking. I can plan it for myself, but not. Or for everyone else, but not for me. Yeah, I am here to help you with that. I so get it. Let me know in the comments if you want a little bit or a lot of that scale and growth that people keep talking about. Right? If you're growing a business and you're in entrepreneurial communities growth scale, you're probably getting ads for it every day. Give me a shout out in the comments if you want to make good money, increase your cash flow and not feel like you're working all the time. Man. This was a transformation I had to consciously make because it was so easy to fall back into when I started my business. My workaholic ways that I picked up and put in practice in corporate, there's a different way. Give me a shout out. If you want to be known for something and you want to do all of this while experiencing the time and financial freedom you dreamt of when you started down this path. All of that. Absolutely. You're about to start that in your business. I love it. I love it. And maybe it's something else that you're going after and if it is something else, let us know in the chat because this is a live workshop that we're absolutely going to adapt to what is top of mind and present for you now. Exactly. That's why we do this. So whatever it is, let's get it. Let's get it and let's adapt it this week because this sounds dreamy but as my daughter Harper added to this slide when I created it, this is not a dream. This is not a dream. This is absolutely possible for you. But maybe you see what everyone else is doing and wonder why isn't that working for me? Why isn't it clicked yet? Why am I not able to scale up? I've been stuck wait for a little while I've been stuck deciding which path to go down next. We're going to get you some clarity. Not to mention chasing the latest marketing tactic is exhausting. What do I mean by that? The truth is I was a little bit nervous the first time I stated this declared it. But I'd been observing this for a while that most of what's taught online about how we need to build, grow, scale, run a profitable business isn't actually business. At best it is marketing advice. We are surrounded by by ways to get new clients new different marketing strategies, tactics do a challenge. Paid workshops are the latest things. Live launching is something new to try. Four part video series Host book calls, Invite people to book a call with you, send them direct to the sales. I could go on and on and on with different tactics and marketing strategies to that you could implement. And we are going to talk about sales and marketing this week. Absolutely. Because it is a part of how you're going to grow your business. But we want to design and tap into those marketing strategies and tactics in a strategic way. So we are not throwing spaghetti at the wall because we want to get traction. We want to make decisions from an elevated strategic place, not just because it's the latest tactic we saw come across our feet, not just because a mentor told us to. Right. You've got to tap in and know what is your goal, what is your vision, what are your strategies for growth. You have to have a view and a lens for your strategy for growing this business. And then we plug the marketing tactics in. Next to that, we marry these things up and make sure things are aligned. Because if we only focus on the marketing tactics, we are going to keep running in circles and we are going to be absolutely exhausted. Because if you want to build and grow a sustainable business with joy, without the hustle, the constant sense of urgency in your chest, then we have to learn how to run the business strategically in alignment with our specific goals. Right. Not what somebody else wants us to do. In fact, once I had a mentor say, go bigger, Go bigger. Set bigger goals for this quarter. Set bigger goals for this year. I'm like, that is not where I am in life right now. I don't want to go back. I've got a big vision. But right now, this is my goal and this is what is aligned for me. But I listened to that mentor who I love dearly and appreciate and respect and value. But I listened to that one quarter and I set goals that were out of alignment with where I was in life. And I did not hit my goals. It is the only time in all of my years of growing my business that I did not reach my goals. And I felt more pressure than I ever have before. And that's not what I want when I'm running my business. I'm guessing that's not what you want either, right? Chasing tactics are really hard. That stress, that pressure, that hustle is not necessary. 24 7. Sure, we're gonna go through some seasons where we're, like, cranking it out. In fact, we've been. Me and my team have been cranking it out the last week to prepare for this event. But that's a season. It is a small season. This cannot be your 24 7. I'm going to share tomorrow the story of two businesses. Which one grew faster the messy marketer, the business with a messy marketer, or the business with a modern CEO. We're going to be showing up and practicing our Modern CEO strategies this week because you might guess little. This story did not end so well. It's turning around, but maybe I should say it didn't start so well. It didn't start so well. But the truth is that we get to choose how we will operate. Do we want to operate like the old school business owner, constantly in your business responding to everything and everyone? Ping, ping, ping, ping, ping, ping. It's constant being an experimentation mode, doing what someone said because I don't have a plan. So I'm just going to do what they told me to, right? Having to be everything to everyone and be everywhere. Or maybe you've hired people but you've struggled to really get them going. On the modern CEO side is what we're going to step into little by little this week to elevate and move us from that place of overwhelm and hustle to a place of clarity and confidence with a business that runs smoothly with or without your team. You don't have to have a team to make this work for you. Doing business your way with a clear plan that is aligned to where you want to be going, having just the right support, not too much. I'm not going to tell you to go out and hire a million people. We want to right size your growth, we want to focus on your strengths. We want your culture to be aligned for your clients and for your team. You want to work with clients who adore you and you adore them back. And we're going to get decisive. So are you ready to step into your promotion as we move through this week with Modern CEO hats on? Because I'll tell you what happens to the messy marketer tomorrow. To be honest, I had to really untangle what society had taught me. When I stepped into running my business. I started to create another job for myself and I had some tough decisions to make. In fact, it was Lily here on this screen with us who said to me, mom, do you ever stop working? And sure, it was the side hustle. It was me growing my business from a side hustle at a full time job to becoming my full time hustle that got us extra Christmas presents, frankly. Got any other Christmas presents? Really? It was probably the whole budget. All of my revenue went towards that. It went on any extra vacations we were going on and went on, the joy and the activities. But man, none of that matters if we are not Present for the people and the things that are most important to us in life. So I decided, no, I don't want to create another job for myself. I want to create something different. I decided I want to grow this business different than the role I had in corporate. But what does that look like? How do we do that? Maybe you've heard people say, you know, to get to your. To get to seven figures, you got to think like a seven figure CEO. You got to think like a seven figure business owner. In fact, that's jumped up over the years. You may even see marketing. To get to eight figures, you got to think like an eight figure CEO. Whoa. But what is it? How do I need to show up? How do I need to shift how I operate in my business? Does that actually mean I can't think up what it means to be a seven figure CEO? I've never been there before. We're going to go through whatever level you want to be at, right? Whether it's, I'm just going for 5k months right now. I'm going for 10k months. I was there. I was so there. Maybe you're going for 100k months. We've got you. The truth is, running a business doesn't give you freedom, joy, or consistent income, but stepping into the modern CEO role does. And you define what that looks like. We're going to help you create a framework for that and a bit of a plan this week, but you really get to define it. And it's a personalized blueprint that you have to create if you really want to create something different and special and not look like a copycat on the market. Not that you are a copycat, but I don't want you to look like one. For me, that meant steady, consistent growth time until I realized we were ready for more. Because this lesson today is about 3xing. Not the steady girl, but we're going to start with the steady growth. Let me zoom in a little bit here. Okay, so we've got the first few years of growing my business. Oh, yes. Let me make those slides bigger. You got it. Thank you for that comment. I'm glad I saw that. There we go. All right. Peeking over at these slides now. In 2019, started my business and there was a whole lot of solo parenting in my life because my husband was gone a lot for weeks and months at a time for work trips. So I was doing a lot of solo parenting. That was me and Lilly hanging out a lot for a long time. I got chronic migraines. We grew you can't really. It's hard to see here. But yeah, there was growth here. There was a little bit of growth. But I was getting chronic migraines while growing my business. And it started when I was pregnant with Audrey. Right. Maybe you've got some variation of this going on, and this is going to pull right through to what we need to think about to scale and grow your business. Then Audrey was born. The migraines didn't go away. They kept coming. She was my catalyst to bring my migraines that started for me in third grade back full on. But notice the business was able to keep growing. Why? Because I learned my lesson with Lily and decided, okay, we got to do something different here. When Lily said, oh, mom, you're working all the time. Like, this is not going to work. Like, okay, I've got to prioritize. I've got to do something radically different or I am not going to be able to see the growth, work through my migraines, spend time with my kids. Right. Have more children, as was our goal and our dream for our family. But I made changes. So I saw that growth in 2012. Saw more growth. The growth continued because we prioritized and we looked at how are we going to do business different. 2013 continued to see the growth nice and steady, nice and steady, incremental, bringing in what I could handle. This is still quite significant growth. I had to scale down these slides because of the 3x that you're going to see coming in a minute here. Then Harper is born. We're still seeing growth. I once had a CEO. He was the CEO, I believe it was Netflix, one of the early Internet online. And he said, when I had children, I became a better CEO because I had to prioritize. I couldn't just stay at work all the time anymore. Now, fortunately, Lily taught me that early. And I heard it from him, like, I totally get it. Harper was born in 2014. We continued to see this incremental growth even when I went back to solo parenting, moved to California for a little while, my husband was again gone. And I decided, hey, I've got little kids. We don't have to stay here. Lily went to college. Oh, we can go to California while you're gone. So this is the first time that we started to see that glimpse of freedom. For me, that means location and time freedom. That's what I was going after. Location and time freedom. And the freedom you're going after may look different. Let us know what your goal is in the comments so we can Continue to sync this up and personalize this week for you. So then, 2017, we're seeing a little bit of growth still. This was the year we were supposed to move. See, actually, we were supposed to move to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. But it all changed, and we. We ended up moving in the US 15 times. Airbnb hopping again and again and again. That's a long story. But notice we continued to see growth even with all of these big things happening. We moved 15 times in 2018 before we landed in Ethiopia in October. And then in 2019, I was running business from Ethiopia again. That location independence was very much becoming a reality. And then, you know what happened in 2020, right? We're seeing steady, incremental growth. You're like Amber. So we're talking about how to fix our growth. We are. I got you. It's coming. But I want to paint this stage because this steady, consistent growth right here, we're not doing too bad. We're right on the cusp. We're just below. Just below that mark right there. Steady, consistent, incremental. Stay in the course. Stepping further and further into that modern CEO role. And then what happens in March 2020? We have to return. Chicago mentioned because of who knows what's going to happen? Borders are shutting down. No idea. Our family was told to come back. And so in March of 2020, our photography business. I run two businesses. Photography and the consulting business. And the photos, the boudoir photography business. If you do not know my photography business, not suitable for work or kids, if you are in any of those environments, maybe depends on your environments, but I like to give that warning. And we realized, oh, my goodness, things are shutting down and they're shutting down fast. Our photography business that works in person could be impacted. Now, the pivots we made, yes, we pivoted. I'm sure there was a lot of pivoting for all of us in the last couple of years. We also pivoted in our consulting business, but that was easier because we were already online. So what did we do? We identified. Okay, what do we need now to support our clients in the space? Increased support. We increased our number of calls. We shifted to what the problems were in the market. Now, if you see a shift or a pivot that you need to make right, you don't have to overhaul everything in the business. So oftentimes we hit a stage in our business, we're like, let's burn it down. No, don't burn it down. Don't burn it down. There's a strong foundation. What we did is we pivoted how we showed up for our clients and we said it was temporary. Right. We increased the number of calls we had each week as it gets nice out, as people are getting back to normal. Right. Somewhat of a new normal way of living. Now we notice people don't need as many calls. We don't need that kind of support. So we've shifted again. But we didn't change our offer. We did not change our offer. We shifted our marketing and we shifted how we showed up for our clients. So you're noticing, yes, pivots are happening, but in the photography business, there was no pivot to be done. We were completely shut down for four months. And despite being completely shut down for four months, we grew. What did we do? We decided that we had a decision to make all of these years. The steady growth. We were taking, taking steps, making action right in action. But there's this analogy I think of when we're growing a business. Yes, there are going to be times when we plan, when we come together and learn, when we're making decisions. We're in that season of, okay, slow and steady growth. But then there comes a time when you gotta get on up out of that rocking chair because the rocking chair is in action, but it's not moving. It's not getting to where we want you to be going. So you have to make a decision. At some point, I'm going to get up on out of that rocking chair and we're going to take some massive action. We're going to make some moves that we have been planning on for a long time. But we stayed slow and steady because slow and steady can absolutely win the race. I mentioned that in 2019 we were almost at a million. 2019, we were almost at that million dollar mark. In 2020, we hit the million dollar mark. Even though we were shut down for four months, we hit it. We exceeded our goal. We exceeded our prior year revenue by just a little bit, but we exceeded it. We continued to grow despite being shut down for four months. And so we had less time to work. We still performed better. So you're seeing, oh, less time to work. Less time to work. Less time to work. Less time to work. Less time to work. Oh, but you're still growing. How is this possible? This is possible because of the way that you are changing how you show up in your business and how you operate and make decisions in your business. And that is what this week is about. So we set ourselves up this year. We're like, you know what? We've been waiting for a while to do some big things in our business. We have four months. What are we going to do in these four months? Are we going to tinker? Are we going to tweak? Are we going to stay the course? Are we going to find out how we just get. How we get, how we get a loan? We did take out an Eidl loan, but it did. We didn't use that just to cover us. And we used it to cover a lot of things because we had team, right? But we also took that time, mental capacity. We had capacity of things to do because we were not shooting. We were not taking care of clients who were shooting because we couldn't have clients at the time. So we took that time and we shifted it to growth and we made the decision to accept and the business, even though we were shut down and that took a decision to, all right, we're going to do this. I think I measured these, right? This should be a 3X. I got, I had it in a chart and like, all right, I didn't put this one in the chart. So I multiplied this by 3.3x our growth in this year because of the decision that we made in the middle of a global shutdown to expand and you get to make the same decision. You may say, oh, I don't want a 3x just like Mentor before, because it wasn't aligned for me at the. It wasn't aligned for me here and here and here. Steady growth was what I needed. If you want to see massive growth and get massive traction, we have to show up different and we've got to make the decision that we're going to do it. And then everything we implement, all strategies, all tactics are going to align with where we want to be going. I will have clients say to me, all right, I'm not worried about scale right now. What I'm worried about right now is I want to put some cash in the bank because there are differences in how we do this. There were times in growing our business that we wanted profit. All of this time, profitable, profitable, profitable, profitable, right? This year, not as profitable, right? We were growing. We had a four month shutdown. We decided to invest in different ways so it wasn't as profitable and this year was profitable, but it was less profitable. So we hit that growth and we turn back to say, all right, we're going to grow still. Right? We're growing, but because we're investing in our business, we've maintained profit here, but now we want to make some big investments in growth. So we're willing to have less of a profit. We are willing to have less of a profit. And these are decisions that I want you to have all of the tools in your toolbox so you can design your strategy and make the decisions for your business. Now, at this point in 2022, right. We are on track with our 2020 and we're on track to maintain that 3x. We have decided to not 4x just yet or to not 3.5x. We might, we might 3.5x because we've got a strong foundation in place. But this is our year of resetting systems and preparing for our next level of growth. So this is why I say you may not want to re x right now, you may want 2.3x, right? But whatever it is, I saw spinning over there, so I wanted to make sure I was still here. Whatever it is, let's make sure it's aligned for your business. And this is where I want to introduce you to the number one step that you need to make to 3x or more your growth. And this is decide if it's what you want to do or not. If this is your time right and side to make the bet. What are you willing to bet on to get this growth in your business? What strategy? What tactic? Who are you willing to bet to start to change how you're going to show up? Are you betting on a. An offer that you have notice? I said a offer one. I should have said an offer. Are you betting on an offer one? Because I don't bet on all of them. That's like betting on nothing. You have to decide to make the bet and stay the course. You know, everyone surprised when we tell them we 3x our growth in the middle of this pandemic season. And what was critical when many businesses like we were were shut down was the decision we made to stay the course and the belief that we had in ourselves that we could do this. It's going to be a hard few months. It's going to be hard, it's going to be scary, it's going to be confusing. Just like the entirety of running a business was. It was just magnified in this moment because we literally could not see our clients. And for photo shoots, you need to be able to see your clients. And we decided to stay the course. We did briefly introduce virtual photo shoots, namely to generate some revenue for our teams. Pour that money right back into our teams. That money just went straight to them. But we knew when we could See that this was temporary. It was temporary to give people something to do in that space between while we made the bet on ourselves and stayed the course. So this is the beginning of where I want you to open up your workbook, and the team will share this with you in the comments below. And I want you to decide to make the bet and stay the course. And we're going to walk through what this may mean for you and what this may look like for you, because growing a business is not a race to the finish line. You get to decide what level of growth you want right now. You get to decide how you choose to show up. Maybe this is your busy season, where I've got one month and I'm going to work, and this is my plan. This is what I'm going to execute on. But I want to have a goal at the end of that. Every week in the modern CEO, we have one week that's called our week of productivity. And a client just shared that during her implementation time, her productivity time that she had scheduled for the month, she had a goal to launch one course. But what did she do instead? She launched two courses. Why? Because she set the intention. She blocked out the time for it, and she made it happen. She showed up in that way. And you get to set your goals and your milestones for success. Right? Maybe for you, like we said, it's not 3xing. Maybe we just want a 2x. Maybe we're just going to bump it up a little. Maybe you want to test out a new strategy, even though it makes you a little bit nervous and you're not quite sure about it. And this is the next question I want to ask you. That Workbook is going to be loaded up for you right in the chat. Malia is grabbing that for you right now. What is fear? I'm gonna actually take a peek. I'm gonna pause, take a peek at the chat real quick and make sure Workbook, baby, Workbook is coming on up. I should have. I know there's a little delay here, too, so I know Malia's grabbing that for you, and I want to make sure there's nothing else Shaken location, freedom. Melissa made it. Yes. Oh, the UK Central Arkansas. So great to see everyone. All right, I'm just going to. Perfect. I want to ask you what fear is keeping you from doing right now? What is fear keeping you from doing right now? And I've got a confession. I've got to confess, it's pretty darn scary going through that season of being shut down Right. Can it work? Maybe for you. You pivoted from offline to online. Maybe you are just at the early stages of your business. You've got fear coming up around, starting the business and taking the first step. My fear today was about doing this workshop. Right. It's something new. We haven't operated the workshop exactly this way before. We've got new ideas and concepts and strategies that we are sharing because we've learned a few more things in the last couple of years, and we've seen shifts and what's happening for people. What is fear holding you back from doing right now? And if I let fear hold me back today, I would have stayed in bed. I woke up like, I didn't agree to do this. Any number of tech things could come up. You may have noticed a couple of tech things have come up. Right. Oh, my gosh. But I can't let that stop me. I love connecting with you. I love being here in this space with you. And more than that, I believe in what you are doing. And I've seen modern CEOs, I've seen entrepreneurs make shifts to show up differently in their business. And I've seen how it has implemented, yes, the growth in their business. But more than that, I've seen how it has impacted their life. I've seen how it's impacted their life. So fear would have kept me in bed. Fear would have never let me run my first Plan A thon. If you're familiar with the Plan A thon. Oh, my gosh. Ah, I'm sweating just thinking of the first time. Right. Fear right now, in this moment is also holding me back from making big changes in business. Going through this exercise with you and going through this reflection. I'm unlocking some things. I'm unlocking some things and some future plans. I will reveal what those are as we move through the course of this year, because now is the time to say, all right, fear is holding me back from bringing in a partner or taking a loan. Oh, I've got something to share on that. Fear is preventing me from making big leaps. Absolutely. A work in progress. Fear of failure. Yeah, yeah, I got. I know. I know that feeling. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. What if this tech goes down? Okay, it didn't fully go down. It just bleeped out for a second. Right. Bringing in a partner to finish, you need capital. I hate to give up control of ownership. I'm not sure you. Oh, thank you. Thank you. Fear of my husband joining my business. It's scary to be the only breadwinner. It's scary to be the only breadwinner. It's so interesting. I was meeting with a colleague of mine, his name's Louis Schiff. He wrote the book Business Brilliant. I recommend this book frequently. And I was sitting down talking to him and he actually asked permission. He's very kind and thoughtful about that. He said, can I share something about how women run businesses? I'm only going to share it if you want me to because I get that the last person you probably want to hear these things from is a white male. But I've observed a difference between the way women show up and the way men show up. And his book Business Brilliant is about how self made millionaires and self made billionaires show up different than those who are in the middle class. So he's done a lot of research on different audiences and how we show up differently, our mindsets. It's a fun read. It's a good book. Business Brilliant by Lewis Shipp. But specifically three weeks ago, related to how we many women on this call right now, how we as women show up versus how our gentlemen show up is that women are less likely to risk, take risk, make the bet. We have more money in the bank account and we're just keeping it in the bank account instead of investing it. And we are less likely, Katrina, to take on investments, we're less likely to take on debt, to take on those investments, to take on partners and JV, etc. And so that really hit home for me because I do want to see that. I just like my money to sit there so I know I have it. But when we make investments, and this is when we talk about profitability and whether or not you want to have profit or not, we'll look at that. I think that's on Wednesday, where we're going to dive more into profitability and things you may want to be doing specifically different because you may not have a season of profitability in your business. It may be an investment season. And of course, when you look at taking on partners, when you look at taking on any kind of debt or loan, et cetera, we want to be strategic about it. So we want to build a plan for this, we want to have a plan for it. We want to be strategic. So I'm not saying go do that because I don't know your specific situation right now, but I wanted to share some of these insights in case any of this is relevant for you. M Shared we're just like dragons, protecting our valuable gold. It took a Lot of work to get it, and it's hard to let go. And this is a shift I want us to make. I want bringing in that money to be more systematized for you. I want it to feel more seamless. You know, for years, actually was probably right. Oh, I'm not going to scroll all the way back. I was going to point to the year. It was probably until 2020, up until 2020, I thought, is this the year it all ends? Is this the year our big event, the plan a thon isn't profitable? Is this the year? And it was in 2020, I got newfound confidence that, oh, we know what we're doing. And I actually just created a real slash TikTok, a real that says once you have these skills of how to run a business, not just do the marketing, but you are creating a business that you have to know all of the levers. You don't have to do all of the things, but you have to have awareness of this. Because once you know how to run a business, including doing the marketing, to do the sales generation and revenue generation, you have skills that can never be taken away. And you can do this on repeat. It might not always look how we want it to look, right. But you've got this if you start to forge that different path and show up strategically. So now I want to ask, what are you feeling that nudge to do? I talk about this as the right on time moment. That voice, that calling, that instinct, that feeling that maybe I should do something different. If there's something that comes up over and over and over again and you keep putting it aside, I want to invite you to consider that as we move through this week, as we move through this week, think about. All right, I'm getting that nudge. I'm getting that calling. How does this fit into the plan that we are going to build this week? How does this fit? Do I need to trade something out? Does this layer in to what I'm doing? Because, listen, I am not in the driver's seat. You are in the driver's seat. As we move through this week, any coach, any mentor program you work through, you are in the driver's seat. I just want to call shotgun on this ride with you and guide you through that. But we want to plan. And when you get that nudge, that calling, that voice, it's right on time. You being here right now at this point in this workshop, right on time, especially if something came into your head, they're like, oh, the thing I fear, oh, this is the thing I've been getting that nudge, that calling to do. And if you are feeling like, oh, oh, I'm being called out right now, you're actually being called into your next move, and it might not tomorrow. This is the other thing that comes up for us as business owners, is that there is so much we could be doing. Right. You don't have to do it all immediately. When we work together throughout this week and beyond, we're looking over the sustainable growth in your business. Yes. There might be some times where we need a fast cash infusion. Yes. There may be times when you're like, oh, I'm going to do this marketing promo because it is right on time like it is. It's. It's Mother's Day and I have something for mothers. Okay, all right. If your business is for mothers, if you're a coach to moms, if you're a coach to mompreneurs, and Mother's Day has arrived. Okay, that is your time. Right. So those things are going to come up. But long term, the big vision that we have, we're going to keep working towards that and we're going to set goals and milestones along the way that are going to get us there. Right. So what are you feeling? That nudge and that calling to do, I'm going to make that bigger for you. And we want to start stepping into this. And when you wonder, ah, that makes me fearful. I don't know if I should be doing that. I don't know how to do it. You don't have to have the answers. You don't have to have the answers. But what I want you to do is with your whole being, I want you to shift. Oh, you can't see my arms crossed here. I'll stand up on my tippy toes. I want you to shift. It's not the right mind. It's not going to work. Shift from the fear, the guardedness that we have. And I want you to physically, you can actually do this right now. You can lift your hands up off the keyboard or off your pen and paper if you're writing. And you can stretch your arms open wide and watch your energy around everything we are building, everything you are creating, that energy will start to shift. And whenever I am in this position, sometimes I'm just on a walk and I get a thought and I start to feel closed off about that thought mentally. And I will stand and walk down the street, or I'll stand here at my office and I will open my arms wide and remove Remind myself that I am open to the possibility that something is brewing here. I don't have to have all the answers. I don't have to know everything. But it's going to come. I'm in the right place and I'm right on time. It's coming right on time. This calling is right on time. In fact, I have been working on some concepts and ideas, and, like, they're not. The puzzle is not fitting together yet. I'm not quitting. It's coming. It's coming right on time. And I want to invite you to step into that as well. So the next question is, you know, we talked about this idea of, hey, you've got a bet. Decide to make a bet and stay the course. So my question for you now, before we step into the the strategic planning and the framework and the plans that we're going to put together this week, what are you betting on? What is top of mind for you? What is top of mind is, oh, I cannot talk and write at the same time. There we go. There we go. I'm totally into hearing this. I got very burned by an ex, and I see the end state vision. You can get there faster. Okay. You've got some clarity. I love it. I am so glad that was helpful and right on time. And now the question for all of us is, where are we placing our bets? Where are we placing our bets? What do you believe in? What does the market need? What is that nudge or that calling inviting you to step into? And we're going to pull this through throughout the entire week. Today is setting the foundation, and we're going to get much more practical. Today is a hard day for me as we get grounded in where we're placing our bets, and we get grounded in where we want to be going and what is right on time for us. Because I am so the person who wants to skip to the implementation. I want to skip to the execution. I want to skip from, okay, I got the vision. Let's go. Let's go. But I have learned when we pause to reflect, when we pause to ask ourselves these questions, when we pause to build the plan like you are doing in these workshops this week, it accelerates our growth and our implementation. We will get more done in less time. We will get more done in less time, and we're going to get where we want to be going faster. So this is time well spent. In fact, time reflecting, like you are doing right now and asking, okay, where am I going to place my bet? What is tripping me up right now. Where am I going? What am I working? What am I committed to? When you take time to reflect, people who take time to reflect are happier. And people within companies who take time to reflect, those companies perform better. So while it is hard for me to do, I know that it gets us better results. I know that we're going to get closer to where we want to be faster. So we do it. We do it. Even though it's not always the sexy stuff, it's not always the stuff that like we're there, we're not there yet. We are at the beginning. But man, you're going to get there faster because you are investing the time right now. So if you're wondering, Amber, when will you get to the million dollar secret? Is anyone asking themselves that right now? Like, will you just give it to me? Just give me it. Tell me exactly what I need to do to get to a million in my business. Fill in the blank on the revenue number. Right? Listen, tomorrow I'm going to give you a roadmap for your growth plan. It could take you up to a million, it could take you beyond a million. But because it's a framework that's going to meet you where you are and grow with you over time and it's dialed in for entrepreneurs and online businesses. But there is not a million dollar secret. If this is the question that you are asking yourself, you definitely want to stick around this week. And this is exactly the kind of thinking that we online in the marketing and that our brain us into. We've test tested. Right. Different messaging and our brains tap into that metric. Right. Hitting a revenue goal. But there are a series of steps that we could take to grow our business to whatever level we want, whether it's a million or not. Right? Whatever it is for you, we're going to give you a framework for in your goals. But I want us to stop to a million. We're going to build a model for how you are going to reach your goal. Rana, you are all good. You are right on time. Organizing Moms has a question and I am going to pause to answer that question before we share next steps. So can you give some examples of things people place their bets on? Absolutely. Organizing Moms. I'm so glad for this question. Some things that people may place their bets on are a marketing strategy. Maybe you do have a marketing event that you are planning to run and you're going to place a bet that this is what your audience needs to hear right now. That this is the thing you should Focus your attention on maybe you're gonna place a bet to bring an investor in, Right? And this is what's going to focus and get your attention. Right now we in our photography business, we're talking about placing a bet on hosting an online conference in the fall. We may still do that, but we also identified, you know, there's a smaller bet we can make first to test our idea. And we can host a workshop, right? So we can streamline it and simplify a little bit. Just one workshop to start, not five like we have this week. But we're going to place our bet on one workshop, not five. So essentially, placing your bet is making the decision to stay the course on something. This is what I'm gonna do. This is what I'm gonna focus on right now. There was one point, I was in Ethiopia, actually wrote the book. I made a bet to finish the full first draft of my book. Of a book, not my only book, but of a book that I've written. I did not yet make a bet bet to publish it. These are more examples. Right? I did not yet make a bet to share it with anyone. I just made the bet to finish the full first draft. So these are definitely some examples of what your bets could look like. Absolutely. And you know, notice I'm saying one bet, make one decision, make one bet. Because how many things can we focus on at once? We try. We try to do all the things, but in reality, we can drive one car at a time. Our brains do so much better when we bring the focus for a period of time. And of course there are strategies. So, okay, I'm going to focus on this project today. I'm going to focus on that project tomorrow. I spent two weeks focusing on this project and yeah, we got it done right. So you might tie some timelines to it, but you're going to place the bet to focus on something because it is a value to your clients, to you, to your business, to your family, to the people you love, to the people you care about, to the. The plans that you have in place into the vision that you hold. So we're syncing those things up now. I know that there was a little bit of an issue you with us popping the workbook link into the chat. Laura, thank you so much for sharing that. If you just hop on over to Amber mchugh.com forward/pps links, the agenda will be the workbook will be loaded up there for you. So you can grab that over@amber McHugh.com forward/pps link links. Thank you, Malia. Thank you, Laura. I adore you. Oh, we got some going for consistency. Oh, I missed that. So good. So next up, we've got a couple of things shaking. Oh, you hear birds? I don't hear birds, Malia. Maybe they're your birds. I would go for some birds right now. No, no birds. I like it. I'm opening those windows as soon as we're done. The one step to take to 3x or more, your growth, you gotta decide to place the bet and stay the course. You might make a bet that, hey, the market is telling me to do this shut down, but I don't believe it, so I'm not gonna do that. You might do something different to the market because you are creating something unique. But once you make that decision, you absolutely have to stay at it. We're flipping and flopping and changing strategies too much. We'll get into that more tomorrow and I'll share how that's hurting your business. Then tonight we're going to be back. We're going back for anyone who's awake or tomorrow morning if you are on the other side of the globe. And we're going to do Q and a. Q and A. Up to 7, beyond up to 100k, whatever your goal is, we're going to create the roadmap for what you specifically need to be doing. And then we're going to have Q and A tomorrow and we're going to look at some other things later this week as we build our sustainable, joyful way that is aligned with our goals. We're going to look at the mistakes we see people making over and over. And this is rooted in data. So I'm excited to share this with you. Then on Thursday, we're going to look at the three parts needed for consistent cash flow. This is really about taking your roadmap that we're going to look at on Tuesday and building it out with more detail. So we're going to go into deeper, a deeper dive here. This is about your role as modern CEO. Again, if anyone has ever said to you, like, oh, think like, think like a seven figure entrepreneur. Think like an entrepreneur who's already hit the goals that you want to reach. Okay. We're going to talk about what exactly that means and how you may want to be showing up to make that next level step. And then on Friday, we have a catch up session. Catch up session. But also how to detach from the outcome and enjoy this journey a little bit. You know, as entrepreneurs, many of us are goal oriented. We have goals in mind and I want to make sure that we have space to enjoy the journey along the way because that is going to make it even better. Even better and better. You are going to see the results just snowball as we detach and we step further into what you are creating and let the joy flow. So with that, the name of the Facebook link to join Amber McHugh. If anybody knows that song that is going to be in my head for the next hour. I adore you. I love you. I'm so grateful for what you are creating in this world. And we will be back tomorrow to get more tactical, to get more practical. Give yourself a massive pat on the back for pausing to reflect today. Chef Nadia, you are so welcome.
