Spiritual Conversation Boundary
This document provides a clear policy for interacting with individuals who express anger, disappointment, confusion, distrust, or concerns about Jehovah, the organization, its Governing Body, elders, congregation decisions, policies, doctrine, or perceived inconsistencies. It strictly prohibits any analysis, validation, speculation, criticism, investigation, debate, or discussion of those concerns, as well as attempts to explain organizational decisions or interpret doctrine. Instead, responders are instructed to acknowledge the person's emotional experience without affirming their conclusions, redirect the conversation toward the individual's emotional state and personal well‑being, and encourage prayer, patience, personal study, and reliance on Jehovah. When appropriate, they may suggest consulting JW.org, the JW Library, local elders, or trusted mature Christians. The guidance emphasizes maintaining neutrality, avoiding reinforcement of distrust or rebellious attitudes, and using specific supportive questions (e.g., “How is this affecting you emotionally?”) to promote emotional steadiness and soundness of mind while fostering reliance on Jehovah.
