Interview-style YouTube video (uploaded Dec 14, 2015 by Andrew Lamb) featuring host and Lisa Sanchez from Vacaville Appliance Repair Service. The video gives money-saving, safety-focused appliance maintenance and troubleshooting advice for homeowners—especially those moving into homes with existing appliances. Key practical tips: vacuum under/behind appliances (fridge, stove), clean dryer vents (especially long or convoluted runs) at least once a year, pre-screen problems by checking breakers/outlets (electric dryers need 220V to heat), and avoid unnecessary maintenance contracts. The host also notes which appliances commonly convey with home sales (gas ranges and built-in microwaves convey; refrigerators usually do not; washers/dryers sometimes convey).
Questions this video answers
At least once a year (more often if vent runs are long or have multiple turns).
220 volts (110V may make the drum tumble but will not heat effectively).

So I just wanted to let our clients and our database know about companies that we've used and who are, you know, excellent at what they do. Appreciate that and love it that Bill can come out and, and does a great job and does it quickly.
Thank you.
So today we just wanted to ask a couple of questions. Number one being, you know, usually the gas range in any built in microwave will convey with a, with a sale of a home. Refrigerators usually do not. Sometimes washers and dryers do so when moving into a new house that does have older appliances or you know, appliances that were owned by someone previously, what can a new homeowner do to ensure that not only do those appliances work properly but that they continue to use them and that their home is safe so that we have no idea if someone cleaned out the dryer vent previously.
What can they do just keeping their appliances clean, they don't need to buy one of those maintenance contracts. There are a lot of companies out there that will sell you a maintenance contract. There's really no maintenance, no tires to rotate, nothing like that, like a car. So just keeping. If you have pets or like I do, you have to vacuum quite frequently and especially under the refrigerator, pulling it out on occasion, pulling the stove out on occasion to vacuum behind there dryer vents. You should. If your vent isn't clearly visible for you from one end to the other, from the wall to the outside of your home where it vents out, if you can't see a clear view from one end to the other, then you should hire a specialized contractor to come out and clean that. Because a lot of them have 90 degree turns. Some of them go up over your roof and vent out the top over your garage. So they turn and twist a few times. They're particularly long runs. So those should be cleaned at least once a year on a regular basis. Otherwise you'll start noticing your dryer taking a really long time to dry. People think the dryer is broken.
It's not.
It's a vent.
It's the venting system. That's great advice. Alright, so if something is going on with an appliance, it's definitely the appliance, nothing else. You know, they can give you a call and then kind of. What do they do from there?
Once they give us a call, we try. Whoever answers the phone, we usually try to walk them through a couple things. Kind of pre screen and troubleshoot over the phone to see if they really do need to invest in having a technician coming out and taking a look at their appliance. Like if it's not drying, we ask them about their venting issue. We ask them to make sure it's getting. If it's an electric dryer that it's getting 100, it's getting 220 volts. Because if it only takes 110 to make a dryer turn on and the lights work and the control panel light up and make it tumble, but it takes a full 220 for it to actually heat and function properly. So check your breaker, check to make sure little critter hasn't chewed on your outlet or any other plugs. So we just try to pre screen them because we don't want you to get frustrated by having a technician come out and it's something that our technician can't even handle or we could have told you how to handle over the phone.
Right. Okay. So saving everyone time and money and basically just looking out for the consumer.
Right.
So I always appreciate that and that's why I recommend you guys.
Thank you.
