Ankur Goyal founded Braintrust to solve a problem he hit at Impura and Figma: LLMs are powerful but unpredictable, making product development hard. Customer interviews with leaders at Notion, Zapier, Instacart, and Coda confirmed the pain was widespread. The eight-person San Francisco team now has multiple six-figure ARR customers and backing from Elad Gil and Greylock.

Hey everyone, um, so LLMs are incredibly powerful tools, but they're non-deterministic and hard to evaluate, which makes building gen AI products very, very difficult. I first encountered this problem back in 2017 when I started a company called Impura, and then again when I led the AI team at Figma after they acquired us. At both companies, I essentially built the same tooling to help us solve evals. Well, last summer I was talking to Ilad Gil, who pointed out, "You've built the same thing twice. Maybe other companies have this problem too." So we talked to AI leaders at companies like Notion, Zapier, Instacart, and Coda, and it turns out they did. And that's how Braintrust was born. Fast forward just a few months later, we've acquired some incredible customers, including the logos you see here, and multiple six figures of ARR. We're also very fortunate to work with some incredible investors, including Elad, Greylock, Basecase, and a number of leaders in the AI space. However, there's a lot of work to do, uh, which is why I'm here. We're currently an 8-person team working in person in San Francisco. We have one meeting per week, which is scheduled for 30 minutes, but it's never taken longer than 15. We are hiring, uh, across many roles, although especially in engineering, we're hiring product and systems engineers, and we're also hiring our first DevRel. If working with incredible technology companies on building incredible AI products is interesting to you, we'd love to chat. Thank you.
