Here are 10 facts you did not know about YouTube. YouTube was actually founded by 3 former PayPal employees. They decided to leave PayPal and start their own website. And when they sold YouTube, Shin got $310 million, Hurley got $330 million, and then Karim got $60 million. So it appears that he got gypped when his 2 friends got $300 million and he only got $60 million. And by the way, I don't know if I pronounced that right, but his name is spelled K-A-R-I-M, so I think that's Karim. Karam, I don't know, but he only got $60 million while the other two got $300 million when they sold YouTube. So he got gypped. YouTube is the second largest search engine, second only to Google, and to me that's not surprising because I hate Bing and Yahoo, but that's just me. In 2007, YouTube used more bandwidth than the entire internet did in 2000. YouTube by itself used more bandwidth than all of the internet in 2000. That's pretty cool. Someone was actually arrested for doing graffiti and posting it to YouTube. Now that's pretty funny to me how they made a legitimate arrest based off of a YouTube video. I know that's probably not that interesting or surprising to you, but I've never really thought about that, how YouTube could help, um, help, you know, stop crime, or you could get arrested for what you put on YouTube. I don't know, it's just kind of cool to think about. The first video to get a million views was actually a Nike ad by Cristiano Ronaldo. Antonio Moniz, hopefully I said that right. He uploaded a video, or not he, Nike uploaded a video called Golden Touch. It was an ad with him in it, and it was the first video to reach 1 million views on YouTube. Every second, 46,000 videos are being viewed on YouTube. So right now, 46,000 different videos are being watched. That is crazy. Over 4 billion hours of videos are watched each month. HD didn't come out on YouTube till 2009. And in the first days of YouTube, when they first created the site, they put a post on Craigslist offering $100 to girls that will— to attractive girls that will post 10 videos to YouTube. That's pretty funny. When they first made the site, they put an offer on Craigslist saying if you upload 10 videos to YouTube and you're an attractive girl, they will pay you $100. Which, I mean, that is a good way to drive traffic to your site, to be honest. And there you go. That is 10 facts you did not know about YouTube. Hopefully you enjoyed, and I'll probably do a part 2, or maybe even make this a series where I just do 10 facts like every other day or something like that. I enjoyed reading about it. I am actually really interested in statistics about YouTube. I don't know, that's just me. And all these things are pretty cool to me, so hopefully you enjoyed and let me know what you think.
