Jimmy explains why he dropped the 6000 from MrBeast6000. The suffix had no real meaning, made the name harder to remember, and looked less professional. Searches for either version still find him, so the change was mostly about wanting a cleaner brand.

Boys, my channel name is no longer MrBeast6000. My new channel name is— "Hey Jimmy, what's your channel name?" "The name of my channel is MrBeast6000." Hey, what'd you say? You said it was MrBeast6000. What does the 6000 mean? Well, uh, well, um, it doesn't really mean anything. Just about any time someone asks for my channel name and I give it to them, they always go, what does the 6000 stand for? When I tell them it has no meaning behind it, they just look at me, they're just like, then why is it in your name? You know? And the thing is, if you search MrBeast or if you search MrBeast6000, 6,000, either way I still pop up, so it's not hurting the channel. So here are the reasons why I changed my name. The 6,000 really didn't mean anything. Having the 6,000 made it way harder to remember my channel's name. Let's be honest, having numbers in your YouTube name kind of makes you seem less professional. I know like Boogie2998 or whatever his name is, he's pretty famous and he has numbers, but for the most part, numbers make you look less professional. And the final and most important reason is honestly, I don't like the way MrBeast6000 sounds that much. I just don't like it. And you know, at the end of the day, it's my channel and I just don't like the way that sounds. I don't like the way it looks. I don't like just how I can tell people the name of the channel and then like an hour later they'll be like, what's the name of your channel? Because they'll always forget the numbers at the end. I just don't like having 6000 in my name. So I changed it to MrBeast. And for the longest time I didn't change it just because I just, you know, so many people know me as MrBeast6000 now. But I feel like going forward, this is the best move for my channel. Like, for real, I cannot tell you how many times I have told someone my channel name and like the next day or the next hour they came back to me and they're like, "Your channel name was what? It was MrBeast— what were the numbers?" They always ask me what the numbers are. Like, most of the time people remember MrBeast, but they never remember the numbers at the end. And so that's why I changed it. And you know, you guys pretty much get the point. Either way, I still pop up when you search MrBeast or MrBeast6000, so It's really not hurting my channel changing my name. It's just, you know, the people who are used to calling me MrBeast6000 are now just gonna have to get used to calling me MrBeast. And in a month, it's gonna be like this never happened.
