In this informal YouTube discussion, the hosts react to Jimmy Kimmel’s recent criticism of the YouTube gaming community, where he questions why anyone would watch others play video games online. They examine Kimmel’s statements, the public backlash reflected in a video’s poor like‑to‑dislike ratio, and a controversial interview where Kimmel allegedly disrespected popular gamer Markiplier. The panel defends watching gaming content as a legitimate form of entertainment, likening it to dining out, and highlights how creators use charity streams, conventions, and fan outreach to add value beyond mere viewership. The conversation is peppered with comedic asides, repeated jokes, and a brief, absurd question about sexual relations with streamers, underscoring the light‑hearted, community‑centric tone of the video.
¡Buenos días, Alcoraza!
Jimmy Kimmel has really been bashing the YouTube gaming community recently, saying, "Why would you ever watch video games online?" He says it's a complete waste of time and he cannot fathom why people would waste their time watching other people play video games.
"We should all be very ashamed of ourselves for failing as parents channel." "Actually, it's called YouTube Gaming and I don't get that. To me, you know, watching another person play video games is like going to a restaurant and and having someone eat your food for you.
I can't tell if he's doing this as a publicity stunt or if he's actually being serious, but one of his videos actually has over 100,000 dislikes and only 8,000 likes. That's a ridiculous like-to-dislike ratio. But in recent news, he actually did an interview with Markiplier and this other chick, and in this interview, he actually said something that was very disrespectful to Markiplier, and I'll play that clip for you right now.
We're putting all of our quarters into the machine.
Yeah. That would be the most Reddit equivalent that I would make to it, like people watching your friends play games. And that's why when I do it, I do charity events, I try to outreach, I go to conventions to meet my fans all the time. That's what makes it really special.
And then you have sex with these people?
Absolutely not, sir. No, dearie, sir.
No, no.
Now if you want to watch the entire video, just search it up on YouTube. It's not that hard to find. But if you watch the entire meeting between these people, you can tell that Markiplier feels a little bit awkward. We all know that Markiplier is a really genuine and down-to-earth guy. He's, you know, he's generally nice. And he was trying to represent the gaming community really well. And you could just tell that Jimmy was trying to get under his skin, was trying to make him mad. But, you know, Markiplier just didn't want to get mad at him, 'cause like I said, he didn't want to reflect bad or negatively on the gaming community. But let's back this up. The main topic, the main reason this whole thing is going down is because Jimmy is saying that watching video games online is a waste of time. And if you want to know my opinion, yes, it is a waste of time. But so is watching TV, so is playing video games, so is all this stuff. All these electronics, it's all theoretically a waste of time. I mean, who says that? Watching football on TV is not a waste of time and then says that video games are a waste of time. I mean, technically Jimmy makes a living off of his show, which watching that is a waste of time. I mean, the guy's kind of a hypocrite in a way. It's called entertainment, okay? We don't care if it's a waste of time. We just want to sit down for an hour, 2 hours a day and just escape the real world. Just watch someone have fun and just have a good time. It's called entertainment, and that's what he's missing. We're just trying to have fun. It's what we're interested in. And usually what you're interested in is what you want to watch. He's like, why would you want to watch someone else play video games? Well, because this is what we're interested in and we want to watch that person have a good time. And we're, you know, in most cases it's because we love that YouTuber's personality and we just want to see how they'll react to stuff in the game. I mean, it's just entertainment. That's purely why we do it. Why do you watch horror films? Why do you watch anything on TV? Because of entertainment. And it entertains you because you're interested in it. And that's pretty much the video. Make sure you don't put your sodas in the freezer. Drink Powerade, not Gatorade, because I'm sponsored by Powerade. Don't wear a black shirt when it's super hot because apparently like black shirts will make you hotter. Put your yogurt in the refrigerator, not the freezer, along with the soda. Put that in the refrigerator, not the freezer. But I've already been over that. We like cold yogurt, not hot yogurt. And especially if you put bananas in the yogurt, that's pretty good. Make sure you plug in your PS4 controller into your PS4, not your Xbox One. Also drink a lot of water too. Water's pretty healthy for you. And wear a hat when you're staring at the house on Mars. Yeah, I think that's everything. See you guys later.
