A YouTube monologue (uploaded by Asif Osman, dated Sept 21, 2022) challenging common Western/white depictions of Jesus and describing a scholarly/anthropological effort (~15 years prior) to reconstruct a more historically plausible appearance. The speaker contrasts the stereotyped white Jesus with the reconstructed image and comments on Americans' likely reactions to that appearance.
I think most Christians in America today, when they think about Jesus, they think about someone that looked like that. But this guy never existed. This guy is a hoax. This is fake news. I think this teacher shirt says it best. Jesus was not white. Jesus wasn't white. Now about 15 years ago, some of the greatest Jesus scholars in all the world and some of the world's smartest anthropologists got to envision what Jesus really looked like. And those great minds came up with this. This is what Jesus looked like. When you close your eyes to pray to Jesus, is this what you see? I think most Christians in America today, they don't see that if they saw someone like this, this is the guy that they don't want to sit next to on an airplane. This is the guy most Christians in America don't want moving into their neighborhood. And this is the guy that many of them want to ban from entering our country.
If these are God's chosen people then God chose them to test the rest of us.
