Hey guys, it's Sarah with the Boutique hub and I'm back today to talk to you about something that happens an awful lot with small business owners. It's about burnout and how to avoid it. Guys, the number one reason I feel like independents, independent retailers, small business owners, entrepreneurs get burnt out is because we start focusing on too many things. Our focus to the main thing that we were excited about doing has shifted. We start spreading ourselves way too wide and way too thin. So I talked earlier in another session about taking on another store as a responsibility. And guys, I think growth is great. However, we have to set ourselves up time wise to be able to manage all of these things because the bigger we get, the bigger our problems. So if you find that your bucket is empty, right, and you're just not motivated, not wanting to get out of bed, not excited about your business any longer, do this exercise, go ahead and write down the things in your business that really excite you. And now the things that didn't make that list, make another list for those. Write a list for the things that don't excite you, the things that drag you down, the things that just drain your energy. Those are the things we want to hire out. Maybe those are the things that just aren't worth doing. If you're not passionate about it, your customers aren't passionate about it. If they're not passionate about it, they're certainly not paying you for it. So maybe this is just an unneeded expense, maybe it's an unneeded avenue of your energy being wasted. Guys, it's not rocket science. But the thing is we always want bigger, we want better. We feel like we need to do more as entrepreneurs. And that's not always the case. You can think of a lot of businesses that have hung their hat on one product and have made that one product amazing, built an empire on one product because their focus was narrowed. There's a really good book out. It's called the One Thing. And this is all about this idea of narrowing our focus, getting really deep, dived into our mission, what we're passionate about and doing really well at that. I think this goes for inventory as well as team and time, for financial management, everything. But guys, we can't spread ourselves too wide, too thin. It will create burnout. And the ultimate sufferer for that is our customers. Well, that's not true. The ultimate sufferer is you. You and your family. Because when your attitude changes and your energy level is depleted because that personally affects you and your relationships, absolutely everything you do so my challenge to you is go back to your why. Why did you get started in this to begin with? Take control of your choices, Learn to say no, no, I'm not ready to do that. I'm not ready yet. You'll grow when you're ready. Get your processes and your principles in place, those operational things in your business and then we can take on more projects so less is more. Clear your mind, get back to the basics, Dial in on what really makes you happy and what is your big why in your business and you will be much more successful for it. We can try to be so many things to too many people and we end up not serving anyone, especially ourselves. If you are dealing with that right now, you're not alone. However, today you can make a choice to change that and I hope you do. Get back to what you love and your customers will love you for it. Alright guys, it's Sarah with the Boutique Hub signing off.
