how to label a lead

PDF · 24 Mar 2025

This short advisory (authored by Erica Pauly) explains recommended ways to label leads in a CRM. It gives a beginner rule-of-thumb (use the funnel that led to the meeting once a meeting is booked), an advanced option (track both original marketing source and appointment source and report on both), and a "Snappy/drip" rule (if a previously-entered non-client from a drip list books an appointment this year, tag them as a CURRENT YEAR (2025) lead). The note also announces a forthcoming AI product, "ASK EP," arriving April/May to provide access to best practices.

Questions this document answers

If the lead (previously in a drip or nurture list and not a client) books an appointment this year, mark them as a CURRENT YEAR (2025) lead.

Announced as coming in April/May (implied 2025).
