28 Sept 2019 · 6 min
A motivational talk about using community support and entrepreneurship to overcome fear and mental health struggles. The speaker urges listeners to seek help without shame and to support others who are struggling emotionally.
Many times we come across people apne ghar pe at work, in our social settings who come across as very normal, very happy, very established, very content human beings. But seldom do we sit down to actually hear their real stories. And once you start connecting with people on a deeper level, you sometimes come across people who are not really that happy. People are not really that established. They just. They're scared, they're fearful, they don't know how to face this world. Many a times they're everywhere. They're socializing, they're enterprising in their businesses, but they're longing to be heard. Because even in a crowded party, even in a big office setting, even in a large joint family, even with two friends, sometimes together, who see each other every day and spend a lot of time with each other, we don't realize that the other person is going through agony, he's going through pain, he's suffering. Some say they're in depression and nobody knows about it. They stay awake at night, they can't sleep, there is a restlessness. They don't know what to work towards. Yes, some of them work very hard because that's the only thing that gives them solace, because it's their time away from themselves. Looking in the mirror is not an option for them. It's scary because when I look in the mirror, and I don't mean literally look in the mirror, when I sit down with myself, when there are no thoughts, it's just me, I become uncomfortable, I feel like crying, I'm depressed, so I keep myself busy in something or the other. And then there are people like this all over the place, all over the world. Mental health has become, or maybe always was, one of the challenges that human beings needed to solve for themselves. Like everything else in life, people can come out and help you in any situation if you think you need to be healthier, have a better body, get in shape, you need a good trainer, you need a good coach, you need a good guide to help you. What about mental health? Why is it that we need to deal with it ourselves? Why can't we reach out to people and say, I don't feel so good, I think I'm depressed because, for the lack of a better word, that sort of helps you explain to the other person that I am going through thoughts which are, which are not uplifting. I don't have a direction in life. Can you help me? Can you point me in the right direction? Is the help I could get outside the family or inside? Like everything else in life, when the community comes Together. When people come together, when family comes together, when love comes from all angles together, and you can find freedom from this feeling of fear, you will find freedom from this shackled being that you feel you've become over time. Is it not all of our duty to look around to find people in your company, in your work setting, at your home? Could be a mother, father, sister, brother, somebody, your best friend and ask him how you're doing, look him in the eye, look him or her in the eye and wait for an answer. The best friends are those who listen more. Let's be best friends to more people every day. I think it's our duty to a spread happiness and positivity, which I think most of us do in many of our different ways. But understand that if you have been blessed with a phase in your life where you feeling confident, powerful, loved, respected, secured, a lot of people are not going through that emotion. And it is our duty to identify those people and pull them out and tell them, you know what? No fear. No fear. No fear. And that's one thing that I love about entrepreneurship. Because entrepreneurship is something that challenges you to get into the unknown. And a human mind is always scared of the unknown, fears the unknown. But when you get into that territory and you make it happen, it becomes okay. And then you explore another territory. You take more risks. More risk, more profit, right? You're in business, you're in entrepreneurship for that. You get into more risks and more risks and you unravel something inside of yourself. And one by one, these layers peel off and you realize you're becoming less and less fearful, more and more powerful. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for watching this video so far. Like I said, all of you who've been watching my videos for the past few years, every time that I get full of an emotion, I'm never frustrated or upset or sad. But when I get full of an emotion, I somehow feel that it's coming to me. And the reason that it's overwhelming, the reason that it's my cup is full, is that I need to spread it through this beautiful visual medium called video and this medium called social media. To all of you, I urge you to do two things after watching this video. A, be fearless. Be fearless to the fact that you can ask for help. Secondly, if you feel that you're in a phase where you are feeling secure and loved, actually ask people how they are feeling and wait for their response. Thank you very much for watching. I wish you no fear in life. Sa.
