Austin Martinson attended a Rotary meeting with senators about a project called Nana Baby, then went to a poetry slam that inspired him to write. He's been writing birthday poems for his mother for a decade but joked this would be his first poem.

What an evening! So went to a Rotary meeting and it was awesome. Got a hold of a couple senators, so I'm gonna contact some senators working with Nana Baby. Hopefully get a government push for their A funding B our event coming up. I don't know. We'll find out where that goes. Then went to a nice poetry slam, and I am now inspired. And I am about to sit down and write probably my first ever poem. That's a lie. When I was younger, my mother would require a poem for her birthday. That's all she ever wanted. And I have no idea how many I wrote. I'm sure she has them still. Probably 10 or so, 10 years. I probably wrote her a poem every year for her birthday. Some of them were lazier than others. You know, some of them had some good effort in them. But I think I know what I'm gonna write my poem. I, I kind of wrote it on my way home in my car ride.
