You're probably using Reiki wrong. Most people who use Reiki channel it through their body as though they're channeling an entity or an external force. You're alive. You're living right now, so the life energy is already running through you. Why are you calling it into you like another external being? If you want to become a master at Reiki, you should do the Quantum Reiki method. Tune into every cell in a person's body, and then recognize that each cell has consciousness of its own. Then remind the cell that it's already connected to the Reiki energy and that it can heal itself. There's 3 billion cells that compose your heart. Imagine talking to all those 3 billion cells and getting them to recognize their own consciousness and that they can summon Reiki directly. The cells within the heart will heal the heart. And since your cells don't have ego, the ego of the practitioner doesn't get involved. Most Reiki practitioners can't separate their ego from the actual work, which then just limits their potential to heal you. I created Quantum Reiki, and I'm going to teach you how to really tap into power.
