"Philosophy: Who Needs It" by Ayn Rand

Ayn Rand's recorded address to West Point cadets argues that every person lives by an implicit philosophy that answers three fundamental questions—Where am I? How do I know? What should I do?—and that philosophy (metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, politics, aesthetics) is the necessary, practical discipline to answer them. Rand criticizes Kantian/Hegelian and emotionalist trends for undermining reason, links those trends to cultural decay (drug abuse, collectivism, attacks on the military), defends American founding virtues and West Point's role, and urges cadets to study and adopt a conscious, rational philosophy (her own: Objectivism).
