Just how powerful is 'Submit to Index' in Google Search Console?

Barry Adams demonstrates Google Search Console's Submit to Index feature on a new blog post. The URL appears in search results in less than ten seconds after submission, but Google limits daily use and warns against overuse.

Hello everyone. I wanted to record a quick video to show you exactly how fast Google's fetch and render and submit to index in Google Search Console actually works. So today I published a new blog post, which is one of my series of interviews with Northern Ireland digital experts. This one with my good friend Derek Johnson, which you can see here. I've uploaded and published already like more than an hour, hour and a half ago. At this very moment, if you do a Google search for the exact URL, it cannot be found. The URL has obviously not yet been indexed, despite the fact that I've published it on Google+, Facebook, Twitter, and a few other sites. So let's just do a fetch and render in Google Search Console and submit to index and see how quickly exactly this URL will be indexed. So I've already done the fetch and render here. In Search Console. Now all I need to do is click Submit to Index, and then we'll see exactly how fast Google will react to this. Let's go ahead and do that. Now it's been submitted. We go back to the tab, do another search here. Let's do a hard search. And boom, there it is. So in less than 10 seconds, From the moment that we submit it to index, Google will start showing it in Google search results. It's incredibly powerful, but that's of course also why Google is putting so many restrictions on it and why it doesn't allow you to do more than a handful any given day. That's all. I just wanted to share that with you and show it in action to see how it works. Good luck and don't abuse this power too much.
