The funniest joke you'll ever tell to your employees is rolling out a process map that was created by executives. They will laugh and laugh and point and they'll say, this is a joke. Right? You guys are kidding. So my problem with a lot of the ways that those folks approach it is because their audience is executives. They're saying to the executives, you need to be the master of your domain and map these processes. And listen, there's a purpose for that. Process comes from only two forms. It comes from evolution, mutation, or it comes via intelligent design. If it is not intelligently designed, you have variation in your process that will likely kill you at about the five year mark. I mean, it's just the way that it works.
