My podcast guest gives some great examples of a “fixed mindset” compared to a “growth mindset.”

So first, let me give credit where credit is due. The mother of the growth mindset is Carol Dweck. She's a professor of psychology at Stanford. And she came up with this dichotomy that, you know, you can have two different kinds of mindsets. One is a growth mindset where you believe you can learn new skills and try new things and succeed. And I took up ice hockey at 44. I took up surfing at 60. The fixed mindset would say, you know, I cannot learn this. It's too hard. Or also, there's the fixed mindset where I am so good I cannot improve. Right. That's also a kind of fixed mindset. And I noticed after interviewing hundreds of people that remarkable people, people who have made a difference, they all have a growth mindset. You don't get to be remarkable if you don't have a growth mindset.
