This is a YouTube speaker reel excerpt of Bill Gallagher (uploaded by him). In this clip Gallagher is introduced by hosts who list his adventurous background (sailing, skiing, piloting, scuba, skydiving) and entrepreneurial achievements (work in 25 cities across 11 countries; has grown companies from startup to over $500 million). Gallagher states his life purpose as "making a difference," defines a coach as someone who makes you do what you don't want to do so you can become who you’ve always wanted to be, and argues that to scale a company leaders must address their personal "why"—their emotions, strengths, and weaknesses—because the leader’s inner state shapes company outcomes.

So I've had people tell me our strategy is totally dialed, and yet their growth is flat. Right. So it's time to change it up.
So next up, we have Bill Gallagher. He's a sailor, skier, bike athlete, pilot. He's a scuba diver. He's a skydiver. He's a serial entrepreneur. You.
Know, 25 cities in 11 countries.
Yeah.
Right. And you've grown companies from startup to over half a billion dollars.
Yeah. You amaze me. If not brighter. Without further ado, I present Bill Gallag.
The purpose of my life is making a difference.
Coach, I like to think, is somebody.
Who has you do what you don't want to do so that you can be who you've always wanted to be. And my first task as a coach with anyone is to figure out who they really always wanted to be. The thing that they don't often say out loud to people because they're uncomfortable. They're afraid it won't happen. They're afraid of what people will say. But that's the first thing that I think of. And the big idea here is that you deserve the company now, or you have the company you deserve right now. So if we want to scale up, we have to deal with you. Not just the whole team, not just the rock dog habits out of the team, but we have to deal with who you are that caused the mess we're looking for. Your why. And the why of your life is like the why of your business. It is a deep, emotionally eliciting answer to a question with a reason for something. We can work with what you're good at, your strengths, and then put that into practice and address the area that you're weak in. It's so fucking gratifying, right? There's 100 people who have a new job that they're proud of, a team that they love being a part of. That's.
