Blake Robert Templeton teaches that spiritual victory comes from exercising divine authority, not fighting from fear. He says most men stay stuck because they try to add God's Word without first removing poisonous thoughts, creating double-mindedness. True authority requires cleansing the soul completely, then filling it with Scripture.
You have to fight from authority versus fight from the earth. It's hard to actually position yourself because the enemy doesn't want you to have any emotions that are against it. So think about like you would literally have to fight from authority versus fight from the earth. So you'd have to declare your authority over the enemy, rebuking the enemy. One, you gotta take control of the soul. Two, you have to cleanse the soul because the soul is full of the yucky stuff that doesn't want you to have control. But once we actually purge all those things out, now we can infiltrate the soul with all God's thoughts, his programs, his beliefs. I mean, it's literally night and day. But what most people try to do is they try to put God's thoughts and programs, i.e., from the Word, in while the poison's still there. And they're like, well, it's just not working very good. Well, clearly, because you're double-minded. You got to cut actual flesh, cutting ties and saying, I'm not of it anymore. I actually hate it. I despise it. I'm not a part of it. I will not be a part of it. And we do that with the hatred of evil.
