Sometimes the path between those two things requires him to strip off everything that isn't real. The version of you chasing approval has to go. The version negotiating with discipline has to go. The version wanting the crown without the cross has to go. Because what God is constructing inside you doesn't get built in the season of ease. It gets hammered. And heated and bent under pressure that would normally shatter a lesser man. The tension you're feeling right now isn't God turning away from you. This is his hand on you. Iron doesn't become a sword in a comfortable room, so it's not punishment. This is the forge. God is not punishing you. He's forging you.
