Blake Robert Templeton explains the difference between power and authority using a horse-and-reins analogy. Jesus grants believers authority over every power of the enemy, citing Luke 10:19. By exercising this authority, a believer can bind the enemy and render it powerless.
Chapters
Jesus gives authority over all power of the enemy. Luke 10:19. Jesus gives you authority over all power of the enemy. Let me tell you the difference between authority and power. Power is like, let's take a horse. Power is the, the horsepower, the, the veins popping out of the horse. Like when I'm standing next to a horse, man, he is powerful, way stronger than me. But authority, authority is something very special. I can take the reins of that horse and I can bind the reins inside the stall. I have authority over the horse. Now the horse is bound. Once the horse is bound, he can jump and he can scream and he can whine, but he can't do anything because he's now made powerless. When the enemy is made powerless because you bind the enemy with your authority, you become dangerous to darkness.
