Blake R. Templeton argues that God's peace isn't lost during stress, it's abandoned. Isaiah 26:3 says God keeps in perfect peace those whose minds stay fixed on Christ. When you let circumstances control your thoughts, you leave peace behind, not the other way around.

So when I was building my business in the very beginning, I felt like chaos and stress was coming into me. And the crazy thing is, peace doesn't leave you. You abandon it. If you begin to take upon that stress and that chaos, you abandon God's peace and we take upon— like, that's a choice— by letting every situation dictate our internal state. So then our mood runs our house. So we start taking the enemy's frustration in bitterness or turmoil or failure, and we start bringing that into our house. Like, as a man, this is what we have to do. Isaiah 26:3 says, Jesus, you keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you. We have to keep our mind stayed on Christ. And when we do, where focus goes, our emotions will always flow.
