Blake R. Templeton argues that Christ's crucifixion gave men authority, but many have surrendered it to the enemy and worldly systems. He cites Romans 12:2, urging believers to stop conforming to cultural patterns and let conviction come only from Christ.

What Christ did on the cross is overwhelming. He gave men authority. So then what's happened? Men haven't lost their authority. They outsourced it back to the enemy. They abdicated it. Opinions to the enemy. Culture has taken it. Comfort. Rationalization. When a man stops making decisions from conviction, someone fills that space, and it's normally the enemy's voice. The systems of this world are to bow to Christ. We are not to bow to the systems of this world. Romans 12:2 says, "Do not be conformed to the patterns of this world." So as a man, it's our time to now stand, align with Christ, and be convicted by Christ and Christ alone.
