Blake Robert Templeton argues that spiritual warfare requires believers to reject a slave mentality and claim their identity as God's sons. He cites Romans 8:14 to say those led by the Spirit cannot serve two masters, and calls this shift from peasantry to purpose the "holy rebellion."

Now we take back what the enemy has stolen. The holy rebellion is about the locomotion on a choo-choo train. It's about literally the force of the heavenly unseen realm taking territory in the earthly realm in which the enemy had actually subdued. Now we take back what the enemy has stolen. It's why the Bible says in Romans 8:14, for those who are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Who are the sons of God? Those who are led by the Spirit of God. Who are led by the Spirit of God? Those are the sons of God. You can't be led by the Spirit of God and also be led by the slave lord's voice. So you've got to actually shift, and that's what the holy rebellion is. It's this locomotion of men moving in the same direction, severing the cord of the enemy's voice. No longer peasants, no longer slaves, but sons living for a purpose bigger than themselves.
