Blake Robert Templeton explains why God feels distant: not because He withdrew, but because you've gradually compromised your priorities. Small choices and listening to the wrong voice create drift. James 4:8 promises that drawing near to God brings Him near to you.

You ever felt like God was distant? Like you can't feel him the same way you used to? Like something's off, but you can't explain it. Let me say it to you this way: God didn't move. He's the same yesterday and today. James 4:8 says, draw near to me and I'll draw near to you. So if there's distance, it didn't come from God removing himself from you. It came from small compromises, subtle drifts, tiny agreements that you told yourself didn't matter, but you started drawing away from him. And over time, you didn't even notice, but you stopped walking as close. Not because you stopped believing, but because you stopped prioritizing his presence and started prioritizing the enemy's voice. So don't ask, where did God go? Why is life so hard? Why ain't he talking to me? You should ask yourself, when did I start prioritizing other things above his voice?
