In this sermon, Blake Robert Templeton explains that Christ’s statement “You can do nothing apart from me” means that true identity, value, and sustainable fulfillment are found only in God. He argues that pursuing wealth or security without God hands a piece of one’s soul to the enemy, leading to spiritual loss, theft, and destruction. Even living in poverty without God can foster pride and a false sense of superiority. Templeton concludes that only through God can a person experience genuine blessings, emotional fulfillment, and lasting achievement both in this life and the life to come.

Chapters

When Christ said, "You can do nothing apart from me," he was speaking very clearly about having anything in this life and then still having your identity and value in him. See, you can make money outside of God. Oh, yeah, but then you're giving a piece of your soul to the enemy. You can build wealth and provision, and you can create security— so you think. But the enemy's then stealing, killing, and destroying the whole time. You can even be poor without God and then gain pride thinking like, man, I'm not like them. It doesn't matter where you are, who you are, what you think. Without God, there is no sustainable life. There's no emotional fulfillment. There's no actual achievement without pride. There's no delight without corruption. It is only God's way that you can have all the blessings in this life and still the blessings in the life to come.
