Bob Fraser walks through forming an LLC in three basic steps. Start with a single-member LLC to skip a separate tax return, then add a spouse or transfer to a trust later if you need to. Stop overthinking it and just start.
It's not that difficult to create an LLC. It's like I said, 3 steps and go to the bank. And if you don't want to file a tax return for it, well, just do a single-member LLC. And if you don't have an estate plan in place, that's all right. Change the members down the road. Once you create your estate plan and your trust, then amend your operating agreement and transfer your ownership from your personally to your trust. And if you ready to file a tax return, then put your wife in there. If you have a spouse, just start with an LLC. Nothing else, right? Just start with an LLC.
