François Braine-Bonnaire says France's tenant protections are so strict that landlords struggle financially. His real estate investor clients have abandoned the French market, selling properties and moving investments to the U.S., where regulations favor owners more.
And of course, in the meantime, of course, you will not have cash 18 months of rent and it's going to trash your place. So I mean, that's because there is so much system to protect the tenant so that it's totally against the landlord. So a lot of my clients, they burnt their wings doing real estate investment in France. Okay, well, I'm done. And they liquidate their real estate, sometimes with appreciation. And then, well, I'm going to go in a more friendly country for landlord, and that's called the US, even though of course the US from one state to another has very different regulation.
