3 Book Marketing Tips to Use While Writing Your Non-Fiction Book

Julie Broad (Book Launchers) gives three concise marketing actions authors can do while writing a nonfiction book to improve launch success: (1) note companies or influencers you praise so you can pursue partnerships, endorsements, bulk sales or speaking opportunities; (2) extract and save powerful standalone quotes during drafting/editing for social media and promotional assets; (3) start and grow an email newsletter early and reuse book content to build an audience and solicit feedback. While you're writing your book, there are a few really high value things that you can be doing to set your book up for marketing success when it launches. If you're working on a nonfiction book right now and wondering if there are things you should be doing to make marketing easier, this video is for you. Hey there, I'm Julie the book broad from Book Launchers. We're your professional self publishing team helping you write, publish and promote a nonfiction book that will help you have a huge impact on your readers and done right will also help you grow your brand, build your business, and make you money. The best part? You keep all rights and royalties. Always be thinking book marketing. The world needs what you have to offer and your book is a great introductory tool, but it only works if you're thinking marketing right from from the start. Today I want to share three marketing specific ideas that you can be working on while you write. And don't worry, they're not going to take a lot of time and effort. They're things to kind of make note of while you're writing. Number one, when you're writing your book, make a note of companies or influencers you write about favorably in this book. This list will be very useful, especially if you work with a company like Book Launchers that pitches corporate partnerships and live appearances on your behalf. The fact that you're raving about an approach, a product product or a service of a person or a business sets your book up for a better chance of getting noticed by that person or that company. And everyone loves third party endorsements, so that person or company might be very willing to promote your book or maybe even buy copies of your book for their clients or team. And in some cases you may be able to leverage that into speaking engagements or workshops. Our client Ryan Berman, author of Return on Courage, did an Author Spotlight video talking a bit about this approach, so you might want to write his name down and look for that video after. Number two when you're going through the writing or editing process and others highlight quotes they like or you just have a sentence that you want bolded because you know it's impactful, make a list of those separate from your book. Powerful quotes from your book make for great social media material. This can be much harder to do when the book is done and you're trying to do it after everything is done for the marketing. So doing it while you're writing and editing makes it so much easier when you're marketing. Number three, up your email newsletter as early as possible in the process. If you don't already have one. And then as you're writing your book, you can use that content for email newsletters. This will also give you the opportunity to get some feedback on that material. You can also pitch sections to places like Medium or other online media and include a call to action at the bottom of that article to get more subscribers to your newsletter list. So you'll be building that relationship, building anticipation for your book, and then also potentially using that content to further your email newsletter list so you have more people ready to buy your book when you launch. Ultimately, even if you're not using your book material to grow your email newsletter list, this is the most powerful thing you can be doing at all times during your author journey. Build your audience. These are the people who will support your book, buy your book service and help you get reviews and sales when your book launches. Which is all really fuel for the fire for getting your book to have momentum and ultimately succeed. Do you like these simple but impactful tips? Please smash that thumbs up button. Go ahead, try it.
