Book Marketing 365 Days Post Book Launch

A Julie Broad YouTube video advising authors what to do in the 365 days after a book launch. She outlines six ongoing marketing actions—seek press tied to awareness months, run giveaways/contests, use ads and promotions (including Amazon ads and targeted newsletter/association placements), keep your website updated, support and cross-promote with other authors, and pursue speaking/podcast/blog placement—and emphasizes writing another book and (most importantly) building an email newsletter list to sustain sales and platform growth. The video ends with calls-to-action (like/comment/subscribe) and links to further resources.

So much book marketing attention is paid to launching your book the first day and even the first week when your book is finally available for sale. But what happens after launch week is over? In today's video, I'm going to share a few key things you should be doing in the 365 days post launch of your book. Hey, I'm Julie the Book broad with book launchers.com, your professional self publishing team helping you write, publish and sell nonfiction books that grow your business and make you money. And the most important part, you keep all the rights and royalties to your book. We just make the whole process easier and way possibly more successful. So much emphasis is placed on making your book a bestseller and launching big. And launching big is a great thing. It builds momentum. And we're called book launchers so we do like a strong launch. But there is so much more to book marketing than that first week. So today I'm going to give you quite a few things to focus on in the year after your launch so that you get a lot of momentum, make money and grow your business. Business Number one Continue to look for press opportunities. One way to do this is figure out an awareness month that ties to your book. For example, if you've written a book on cybersecurity, October is Cybersecurity Month. That's a great time to pitch yourself and your book for press. Media responds to relevant things going on and needs content to connect to. Awareness months for real estate. Tagging into the latest housing reports from the economic research firms is a great way to get media attention. Mental Health Awareness Month Movember Love Awareness Month. I just made that one up, but that would be February, wouldn't it? Stay on top of trending topics in your industry so you know exactly what angle to pinch the media. Number two Giveaways and contests to your readers. You can create contests or giveaways throughout the year to connect to special events like holidays or awareness months or other things going on in your business. It's a great way to revitalize interest in your book and drive audiences to buy, you can give away your books and maybe even pay. Pair it with some other well known authors or books that your readers will love. Number three Ads and Promos in addition to Amazon ads, which I highly recommend at this stage post launch, I'd look at promoting your book in relevant newsletters, associations, webinars or other places where your ideal reader is the audience. Just know that one ad is rarely effective. Folks need to see you a few times so you can try advertising on Facebook or Instagram. Me personally, I haven't found it that effective. I just feel like I'm donating to the big blue banner. But I do know some authors have found success with that. Bottom line, at this point, post 90 days and in that first year after launch, you might want to spend some money on promoting your book to keep the momentum going. Number four Your website. Continue to update your website with new and relevant information so your readers don't lose track of you and your expertise. At the very least, get a plugin that shows your latest tweets or other social media posts and keeps your website fresh that there's always something new and relevant on your website when someone visits. 5. Support other authors Other authors are a great resource for cross promotion. Consider pairing up with authors when their book comes out to not only offer social media support, but participate in author newsletter swaps, book bundles or giveaways. It'll again get new eyes on your content and give you a bump. Boom. 6. Keep looking for speaking podcasts, blogger reviews, and other relevant platforms that can put you in front of their audience. Just because the buzz of launch week is gone doesn' mean there aren't going to be a lot of folks still looking for content. And remember, you can offer up sections of your book to be published in magazines, newspapers, blogs and other places in exchange for a little blurb about your book. Finally, start writing your next book. The best way to sell a book is to write another one. Okay, that's not the best way, but really, when you publish a new book, your old book will see a lift in sales. So once you've had a little time to recover, start on the next one like this content. Hit that like button and make sure you've said hello in the comments and subscribe to the channel. If you subscribe and comment on a video the day it's released, you'll be entered to win some cool book launcher swag and we'll probably become YouTube besties. I have with April Braswell, Veronica Pryor Fasian, Bonnie Bullock, Vision for Growth, and Fi O'. Shea. We're all YouTube besties now, right guys? Oh, you're still here. I love it. So when you stay until the end, I saved the most important tip for you. What you need to be doing Post Launch the single most important thing is building your newsletter list while doing all of the above that we've already talked about. You want to do that to sell books, but you also want to be building your platform. Your platform is going to sell your next book and grow your business. If you aren't sure what to do to build your email newsletter list, check out this playlist of videos to help you do that. See, it pays to stay until the end, doesn't it?
